Evaluation Of Pleural Effusion At Assiut University Hospital

Pleural Effusion

Pleural effusion is an accumulation of fluid between the tissue layers that line the lungs and chest cavity. It has an estimated prevalence of 320 per 100,000 people in industrialized countries. The cause of the pleural effusion remains unclear in a substantial percentage of patients with persistently exudative effusions.

Respiratory Care in Intensive Care Unit for Neuromuscular Patients

Respiratory Failure

Retrospective multicentric observational study exploring the population of adult neuromuscular patients presenting a respiratory distress requiring their admission in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for ventilatory support. Research of markers associated with long term mortality and ventilatory status.

Nonspecific Low Back Pain in Association With Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Low Back PainChronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Introduction. Nonspecific low back pain (NSLBP) is a very prevalent medical condition, especially in subjects with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The diaphragm is a respiratory muscle, but it takes part in trunk stabilization on lumbar spine. NSLBP is related to lack of spinal control. The COPD symptoms include lack of efficiency in diaphragm, which could be connected to NSLBP. Hypothesis and objectives. COPD can contribute to NSLBP. It is associated with diaphragm weakness, severity of respiratory function, lower level of physical activity and quality of life in COPD. Methods. A descriptive observational cross-sectional study was conducted with two groups: the first one with subjects with COPD and the second one with subjects without it. Data were collected on: pulmonary function; respiratory muscles strength; trunk postural control; quality of life with COPD; physical activity level; lumbar pain presence, intensity and disability. Data were collected in a single session.

Prognostic Value of PD-L1 in NSCLC

CarcinomaNon-Small-Cell Lung

This is an observational retrospective study. The primary objective is to investigate the expression and potential prognostic role of Programmed Death Ligand 1 (PD-L1) in tumor samples from 350 patients with early stage treatment-naive non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Tissue samples were embedded in a tissue microarray. PD-L1 will be studied by immunohistochemistry using the SP263 antibody. Stained samples will be evaluated independently by two operators. A tumor will be defined as positive when = or >50% of tumor cells express the ligand. The investigators will investigate the relationship between PD-L1 protein expression and overall survival and other clinical characteristics with appropriate statistical methods.

Clinical Characteristics and Microbiology of Community-Acquired Pneumonia

Community-acquired Pneumonia

Community-Acquired Pneumonia has become common. Additionally, the mortality is high. But the epidemiology of pathogen is various in different areas, which is crucial for the key treatment. In addition, the risk factors of patients who died in 3 or 7 days in china is not clear, comparing with patients who died in 14 or 28 days or who survived.

Registry for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease With Anxiety and Depression in China

COPDAnxiety1 more

Anxiety and depression are common comorbidities of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). However, the exact prevalence is not known in China. COPD patients with anxiety and depression tend to have more severe symptoms and worse prognosis, but the related evidences are not strong enough. The study aim to investigate the prevalence and long-term outcome of anxiety and depression in COPD.
