Paclitaxel and Bryostatin 1 in Treating Patients With Advanced Pancreatic Cancer

Acinar Cell Adenocarcinoma of the PancreasDuct Cell Adenocarcinoma of the Pancreas3 more

Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combining paclitaxel and bryostatin-1 in treating patients who have locally advanced unresectable or metastatic pancreatic cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Bryostatin-1 may help paclitaxel kill more cancer cells by making tumor cells more sensitive to the drug.

Gemcitabine With or Without Capecitabine in Treating Patients With Locally Advanced or Metastatic...

Pancreatic Cancer

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. It is not yet known if gemcitabine is more effective with or without capecitabine in treating pancreatic cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of gemcitabine with or without capecitabine in treating patients who have locally advanced or metastatic pancreatic cancer.

Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Bile Duct, Gallbladder, or Pancreatic Cancer

Extrahepatic Bile Duct CancerGallbladder Cancer1 more

RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Motexafin gadolinium may increase the effectiveness of radiation therapy by making tumor cells more sensitive to treatment. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of radiation therapy plus motexafin gadolinium in treating patients with bile duct, gallbladder, or pancreatic cancer that cannot be removed surgically.

Radiation Therapy Plus Paclitaxel in Treating Patients With Nonmetastatic, Unresectable Pancreatic...

Pancreatic Cancer

RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining radiation therapy with chemotherapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of radiation therapy plus paclitaxel in treating patients who have nonmetastatic, unresectable pancreatic cancer.

Laparoscopic Ultrasound in Diagnosing Patients With Pancreatic Cancer

Pancreatic Cancer

RATIONALE: New diagnostic procedures, such as laparoscopic ultrasound, may improve the ability to detect pancreatic cancer and determine the extent of disease. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of laparoscopic ultrasound in diagnosing patients with stage I or stage II pancreatic cancer.

Terminated3 enrollment criteria

Vaccine Therapy in Treating Patients With Resected or Locally Advanced Unresectable Pancreatic Cancer...

Pancreatic Cancer

RATIONALE: Vaccines may help the body build an effective immune response to kill tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of vaccine therapy in treating patients with resected or locally advanced unresectable pancreatic cancer.

Gemcitabine Plus Oxaliplatin in Treating Patients With Refractory Locally Advanced or Metastatic...

Pancreatic Cancer

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combining gemcitabine and oxaliplatin in treating patients who have refractory locally advanced or metastatic pancreatic cancer.

Completed3 enrollment criteria

DX-8951f in Treating Patients With Metastatic Cancer of the Pancreas

Pancreatic Cancer

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of DX-8951f in treating patients who have metastatic cancer of the pancreas that has not been previously treated or that has not responded to previous chemotherapy.
