EUS Guided Neurolysis Celiac Block w/wo Bupivacaine in Patient Being Treated Palliatively for Pancreatic...

Pancreatic Cancer

The goal of this project is to determine if EUS-CPN without Bupivacaine (versus EUS-CPN with Bupivacaine) can reduce pain scores and improve quality of life in patients with inoperable pancreatic cancer by reducing the morbidity due to narcotic side effects (e.g. nausea, excessive sedation, constipation).

Gemcitabine Pharmacokinetics After Preoperative Chemoradiation Therapy

Pancreatic Cancer

The goal of this clinical research study is to learn if gemcitabine given during surgery can enter pancreas cancer cells in patients who have already received chemotherapy and radiation. Gemcitabine is a drug used to treat pancreatic cancer. However, it has not previously been studied if gemcitabine can enter pancreatic cancer cells. Gemcitabine is designed to block the growth of cancer cells, which may cause cancer cells to die.

Palonosetron Hydrochloride in Preventing Nausea and Vomiting Caused by Radiation Therapy in Patients...

Anal CancerCarcinoma of the Appendix10 more

RATIONALE: Palonosetron hydrochloride may prevent nausea and vomiting caused by radiation therapy. It is not yet known whether palonosetron hydrochloride is more effective than a placebo in preventing nausea and vomiting. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying the side effects of palonosetron hydrochloride and to see how well it works in preventing nausea and vomiting caused by radiation therapy in patients with primary abdominal cancer.

Chemotherapy With or Without Dalteparin in Treating Patients With Metastatic Pancreatic Cancer

Chemotherapeutic Agent ToxicityPancreatic Cancer1 more

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as gemcitabine and capecitabine, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Anticoagulants, such as dalteparin, may help prevent blood clots from forming in patients being treated with chemotherapy. It is not yet known whether gemcitabine is more effective when given alone or together with dalteparin and/or capecitabine in treating patients with pancreatic cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying whether dalteparin prevents blood clots in patients with pancreatic cancer receiving treatment with different combinations of gemcitabine and capecitabine.

SEMS Placement Before Surgery in Unblocking Bile Duct in Patients With Periampullary Pancreatic...

Pancreatic Cancer

This trial studies the side effects of self expanding metal stent (SEMS) placement before surgery in unblocking the bile duct in patients with periampullary pancreatic cancer with severe obstructive jaundice. SEMS placement unblocks the bile duct and may help in improving bile drainage prior to surgery in patients with periampullary pancreatic cancer with severe obstructive jaundice.

ARQ-761 Treatment With Gemcitabine/Nab-Paclitaxel Chemotherapy In Pancreatic Cancer

Pancreatic Cancer

This is a study of ARQ-761 (beta-lapachone) with gemcitabine/nab-paclitaxel chemotherapy in subjects with advanced (metastatic, unresectable, or recurrent) pancreatic cancer that has not been treated with gemcitabine.

Study of Pancreatic Enzyme Replacement on Completion of Adjuvant Chemotherapy for Resected Pancreatic...

Pancreatic Cancer

This research study is evaluating a study drug to treat pancreatic exocrine insufficiency (PEI) during the first year after the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer while the participant is recovering from surgery and receiving adjuvant treatment. The study drug involved in this study is: -Zenpep

Standard Pain Control or Intrathecal Therapy in Controlling Pain in Patients With Locally Advanced,...

PainPancreatic Cancer

RATIONALE: Giving medications in different ways may change their effectiveness in controlling pain. It is not yet known whether intrathecal therapy is more effective than standard therapy in controlling pain in patients with pancreatic cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized clinical trial is studying standard pain control to see how well it works compared with intrathecal therapy in controlling pain in patients with locally advanced, unresectable, or metastatic pancreatic cancer.

Escitalopram in Treating Depression in Patients With Advanced Lung or Gastrointestinal Cancer

Colorectal CancerDepression8 more

RATIONALE: Escitalopram may help improve depression and quality of life in patients with advanced lung or gastrointestinal cancer. It is not yet known whether escitalopram is more effective than a placebo in treating depression in patients with advanced lung or gastrointestinal cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized clinical trial is studying the side effects of escitalopram and to see how well it works compared to a placebo in treating depression in patients with advanced lung or gastrointestinal cancer.

Quality of Life After Biliodigestive Anastomosis (BDA) or Stents to Treat Biliary Obstruction in...

Local Tumor SpreadAdvanced Cancer3 more

To compare the quality of life (QoL) in patients receiving a bilioenteric anastomosis vs. endoscopical stenting for palliation of biliary obstruction due to locally unresectable or metastatic pancreatic cancer. In the past, endoscopy seems to have been favoured based on older studies, but with new chemotherapeutic regimens available, the likelihood to experience stent complications has increased. Therefore, the issue as to which palliation should be favoured has to be reconsidered.
