Clinical Characteristics, Outcomes and Risk Factors for Mortality in Pregnant/Puerperal Women With...

We performed a national, multicenter, retrospective, cohort study. The study was announced on the Turkish Society of Intensive Care Medicine website, which included the study protocol, and the directors of ICUs caring for COVID-19 patients were invited. The study population comprised all SARS-CoV-2-infected pregnant or puerperal women (up to 6 weeks after birth) who were admitted to participating ICUs between 1 March 2020 and 1 January 2022. The exclusion criteria were patients aged <18 years old, patients with negative COVID-19 PCR test results, patients with active malignant disease, and organ transplant recipients.The following data were collected: patient demographics, gestational age or postpartum day on admission, date of ICU admission, comorbidities, vaccination status, Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II (APACHE-2) and Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) scores on admission, the worst SOFA score during the ICU stay, the ratio of lung infiltrates if diagnostic imaging was performed, the time interval from the start of symptoms to ICU admission, the duration of ICU stay, laboratory values on admission and the worst laboratory values during the ICU stay, the development of extrapulmonary organ injury,the presence of non-COVID-19 infections, The worst PaO2/FiO2 ratio during the ICU stay, the most invasive respiratory support method applied, and therapies were also recorded. Immunomodulatory therapies such as corticosteroids, IL inhibitors, intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) and cytokine hemadsorption, were also recorded. Fetal and neonatal complications were collected. LASSO regression and multiple logistic regression analyses were used to identify risk factors for maternal ICU mortality.

The COVID-19 pandemic is a challenge for the French healthcare system, particularly among the elderly due to their particular vulnerability to the serious consequences of the disease, with an estimated mortality rate of around 30-35% among the frail elderly. The management of the health crisis could take a new turn in 2021 with the arrival in France of vaccines against the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The objectives of this vaccination campaign are to reduce the morbi-mortality attributable to COVID-19 on the one hand, and to maintain essential activities related to the functioning of the country on the other hand and in particular the health system. However, the distrust of vaccination, traditionally strong in France, could have a negative impact on this strategy. While the President of the Republic announced on November 24, 2020 that vaccination against SARS-CoV-2 would not be made compulsory, almost one French person in two declared in several surveys that they did not want to be vaccinated; the main criterion for acceptance of vaccination being advanced age (the older they are, the more French people declare accepting to be vaccinated). In view of the gradual vaccine supply schedule for the year 2021, the French National Authority for Health established at the end of 2020 a prioritization by vaccine availability phases. The critical initial supply phase,which is currently taking place, is the one during which residents of retirement home and long-term care units are prioritized because of their particular vulnerability (age and co-morbidities) and their increased exposure to SARS-CoV-2. For these reasons, and in order to carry out the current vaccination campaign in the most optimal way possible, this national survey is launching to evaluate the acceptance rate of the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine among people living in retirement homes and long-term care units, to understand the mechanisms of acceptance or rejection, and to draw up an initial large-scale inventory of the symptoms observed following vaccination.

2019 NSECE COVID-19 Follow-up

The objective of the National Survey of Early Care and Education (NSECE) is to document the nation's current supply of early care and education (ECE) services. Because the COVID-19 pandemic is likely to have had an impact on the ECE supply, and because the availability of ECE services is critical to restoring the U.S. economy, updated data on the ECE supply will be crucial for policy-making and research. The purpose of the NSECE COVID-19 Follow-up Study is to describe the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the pre-pandemic ECE supply and the ECE workforce, including changes in supply or departures from and re-entries to the workforce. Data from the study can be used to estimate the impact of the pandemic on ECE supply and the financial health of ECE providers, as well as providers' experiences during and after the pandemic emergency. Through a two-wave design, the NSECE COVID-19 Follow-up Study data will trace providers' and workforce members' experiences from 2019, through the initial months of the pandemic (to be reported in the Wave 1 interview), and then to the one-year point since the onset of the pandemic (to be reported in the Wave 2 interview). This design is intended to capture the trajectories of providers and workforce members, for example through recovery back to full or modified participation in ECE supply, or long-term exits from ECE supply. Prospectively collecting these data allows inference about the types of providers and workforce members most likely to have exited or survived in ECE, as well as the programmatic supports received by those who remain in ECE at the time of the second interview.

This online-based, observational retrospective registry aims to (i) study the rate of cardiovascular events, encompassing venous thromboembolic and arterial events, in consecutive hospitalized patients with coronavirus (Covid19), (ii) investigate the prevalent use of thromboprophylaxis, (iii) describe the use of imaging tests for the detection of cardiovascular events in patients with Covid19. This will also facilitate and constitute the basis for the conduction of interventional thromboprophylaxis studies in patients with Covid19.
