Therapeutic Response of Cannabidiol in Rheumatoid Arthritis

This phase II trial studies how well acalabrutinib and venetoclax with or without early obinutuzumab work for the treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia or small lymphocytic lymphoma that is high risk, has come back (recurrent), or does not respond to treatment (refractory). Acalabrutinib may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Venetoclax may stop the growth cancer cells by blocking BCL-2 protein needed for cell growth. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as obinutuzumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Giving acalabrutinib and venetoclax together with early obinutuzumab may improve clinical outcomes and control the disease.

This phase II Pediatric MATCH trial studies how well ivosidenib works in treating patients with solid tumors that have spread to other places in the body (advanced), lymphoma, or histiocytic disorders that have IDH1 genetic alterations (mutations). Ivosidenib may block the growth of cancer cells that have specific genetic changes in an important signaling pathway called the IDH pathway.

This phase II trial studies how well a donor stem cell transplant, treosulfan, fludarabine, and total-body irradiation work in treating patients with blood cancers (hematological malignancies). Giving chemotherapy and total-body irradiation before a donor stem cell transplant helps stop the growth of cells in the bone marrow, including normal blood-forming cells (stem cells) and cancer cells. It may also stop the patient's immune system from rejecting the donor's stem cells. When the healthy stem cells from a donor are infused into the patient, they may help the patient's bone marrow make stem cells, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. The donated stem cells may also replace the patient's immune cells and help destroy any remaining cancer cells.

The Artificial Pancreas lab at McGill University has developed an optimization algorithm for adults with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) on Multiple Daily Injection (MDI) therapy with the adjunctive use of glucose sensor technology, collectively known as sensor-augmented MDI therapy. The algorithm is designed to estimate optimal basal-bolus parameters based on the patient's glucose, insulin and meal data over several days. The investigators hope that this algorithm will be better able to improve long-term glycemic targets by reducing HbA1c levels compared to sensor-augmented MDI therapy alone.

Eosinophilic Esophagitis

This study will enroll participants who have been diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE). Upon study enrollment, the participant will begin a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), Omeprazole 20mg twice daily. After taking Omeprazole for four weeks, the participant will have a Transnasal Endoscopy, and biopsies will be taken to determine the histological change. If the biopsies are abnormal, the participant continues Omeprazole and will undergo another endoscopy at eight weeks. The study aims to determine the percentage of children with Eosinophilic Esophagitis who improve with PPI use and to determine the length of time and effectiveness of PPI therapy in the management of EoE. The investigators hypothesize that following the initiation of PPI for treatment of Eosinophilic Esophagitis, biopsies obtained will show decreasing eosinophil counts at four weeks, which is sooner than the previously reported eight week period.
