Retrospective Analysis of Lymphomas and Cancers Synchronous Occurrence in Picardy From 2007 to 2012...

LymphomaCancer

Cancer is the leading cause of death in man and the second leading cause in women with 85,000 and 63,000 deaths, respectively, in 2012. A working group led by Holly L. Howe, PhD, in 2002 defined primary neoplasia Such as the occurrence and diagnosis of two or more independent neoplasms of different histology in the same patient. The occurrence of a new cancer has become more frequent in recent years: the prevalence of multiple primary neoplasia (NPM) is estimated between 0.73% and 11.7%. According to the French data, the risk of second cancer in people who have already had a first cancer is increased by 36% compared to the general population. Several studies have reported an increase in the risk of cancer after treatment of lymphoma but there are currently no studies on the occurrence of lymphoma and cancer of synchronous occurrence. In our department, 19 patients presented cancer and lymphoma synchronously, that is to say 6 months between 2007 and 2012. The main objective is to show that there is an increase in the incidence of cancers in patients diagnosed for lymphoma synchronously. Secondary objectives are to describe the clinical and biological characteristics of the patients concerned and to formulate hypotheses on the physiopathological mechanisms involved: peri-tumoral B-cell lymphoproliferation, alteration of the immune system or rearrangement of the BCR. In a second step, the investigator could propose a multicenter epidemiological study using data from the different Cancer Registries. If results are confirmed in a larger cohort, recommendations could be made.

Regulatory BCells in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Systemic lupus erythematosus , the archetypal multisystem autoimmune disease, presents many diagnostic and management challenges. One such challenge is the excess cardiovascular disease observed in patients with Systemic lupus erythematosus . Coronary heart disease and other manifestations of atherosclerosis continue to be a major cause of death in patients with Systemic lupus erythematosus.Regulatory B-cells have been identified as a negative regulator of the immune system that inhibit pathological immune response by suppressing both uncontrolled protective immune response and damaging autoimmune responses

T-cell Brazil: Prospective Collection of Data in T-cell Lymphomas Patients

T-cell LymphomaNK-Cell Lymphoma1 more

The designed study follows up on the previous one by the international T-cell project (Bellei et al,, 2012) and its purpose is to verify whether a prospective collection of data would permit access to more accurate information permitting a better definition of prognosis and investigation of more adequate treatment strategies for these neoplasms. The analysis of patients distributed in all five macro regions of the country and a comparison among them will provide a real picture of the disease in Brazil, limiting the bias probably found in the previous projects.

Nutritional Status in Children With ALL in Guatemala

Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

This study proposes to investigate the association of nutritional status of a children assessed by body mass index (BMI), triceps skinfold thickness (TSFT), and mid upper arm circumference (MUAC), with body composition, measured by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA), in 60 children undergoing treatment of ALL at Unidad Nacional de Oncologia Pediatrica (UNOP), in Guatemala City, Guatemala. The study also aims to establish normative values of body composition in children residing in an LMIC by examining 160 healthy siblings of children under treatment, and to measure habitual physical activity in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) at diagnosis and during therapy.

Characterization of White Blood Cells Sub-populations From Multiple Sclerosis Patients.

Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic progressive neurological autoimmune disease, that gradually affects patient's quality of life. There are about 2.5 millions patients world wide, with an increasing cost Burdon. Up to date, it remains unclear who are the exact cells to initiate the disease. During the disease, the repertoire of cells expands and undergoes changes. The purpose of this study is to characterize those changes.

Whole Body PET-MRI in Paediatric and Adolescent Lymphoma

Lymphoma

Children and adolescents with Hodgkin lymphoma currently undergo multiple investigations including a separate PET and MRI scans during their treatment. Investigators want to investigate if a combined PET-MRI scan could give the same information. Children who join our study will have an extra scan twice during their treatment

Determinants of Health Status and Quality of Life in Patients With Primary Immunodeficiencies Inhereted...

Primary Immune Deficiency

Background: Most children with primary immune deficiency (PID) now reach adulthood. However, few studies have evaluated their health status and health related quality of life (HRQoL). Objective: To investigate long-term morbidity, the French Reference Center for PIDs initiated a prospective multicenter cohort: the F-CILC (French Childhood Immune deficiency Long-term Cohort). The data collected will be used to assess the physical health condition of patients who reached adulthood and the impact on their quality of life. Methods: Patients are asked to complete health status questionnaires. A severity score (grade1 ["mild"] to grade 4 ["life-threatening"]) is assigned to each health condition. The HRQoL of patients is compared to age- and sex-matched French normal values using the SF36 HRQoL questionnaire. Capsule summary. This will be the first study of adult survivors of childhood PID describing how the burden of health conditions affect their quality of life.
