Robotic vs Laparoscopic D3-D4 Lymphadenectomy for Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal Cancer

Approximately one third of patients with colorectal cancer are diagnosed as locally advanced stage with metastasis to N3 - N4 lymph nodes requiring a D3 - D4 lymphadenectomy. Our previous study has indicated that, by laparoscopic approach, the extended abdomino-iliac lymphadenectomy, the so-called D3-D4 lymph node dissection, could be performed with quick convalescence and similar oncologic efficacy for the treatment of advanced recto-sigmoid cancer with metastatic lesions over N3-N4 lymph nodes, as compared with traditional open surgery. In the present study, the investigators will further compare the oncologic and functional outcomes of robotic versus laparoscopic approach in performing such challenging surgical procedures for patients with advanced colorectal cancer requiring a D3-D4 lymphadenectomy through a randomized prospective clinical trial.

Autologous Natural Killer Cell Therapy for Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Hepatocellular Carcinoma

This study represents a phase I clinical trial that utilizes natural killer (NK) cell therapy for patients diagnosed with liver cancer, specifically those classified as Child-Pugh A and falling within the Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) stages B or C. The expected results include determining the suitable treatment dosage, identifying any resulting side effects, and calculating the average duration of progression-free survival. The target group for the study consists of all individuals diagnosed with liver cancer. At the same time, the practical sample consists of those who received medical care for liver cancer at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) between May and December 2022. The chosen research sample comprises liver cancer patients who fulfill the predetermined participation criteria. The necessary sample size for discerning appropriate treatment dosages and the occurrence rate of potential side effects shall consist of 2-3 liver cancer patients who are administered autologous NK cells. The process for isolating these NK cells adheres to the guidelines established by Miltenyi Biotec.

Combination Therapy in Patients With Localized Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma

Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma

The purpose of this study is to combine standard radiation therapy with drugs that encourages the body's immune system against cancer cells and simultaneously adding drugs which also target the pathway that the tumor uses to evade the immune system (CD73 and A2a/b). The study hopes that these drugs will work in concert with radiation therapy to kill cancer cells. The specific goal of this study is to ensure that treatment with zimberelimab and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) alone or in combination with quemliclustat (a drug which blocks CD73), with or without etrumadenant (a drug which blocks the A2a/b) given before surgery is safe and if it can further increase the immune response against the tumor.
