QoL of Colorectal Cancer Patients and Spouses
Quality of LifeStoma Ileostomy3 moreThe aim of the present prospective, comparative study was to compare the quality of life (QoL) of patients after colorectal surgery to the QoL of their spouses. The study included patients who underwent curative surgery for colorectal carcinoma (n = 100; abdominoperineal excision [n = 33], low anterior resection [n = 33], left hemicolectomy [n = 34]) and their spouses (n = 100). The patients and spouses completed the Medical Outcome Study 36-item Short Form Survey (SF-36) and the World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule II (WHODAS-II) preoperatively and at postoperative months 15 to 18. The QoL of patients and that of their spouses changed following surgery for colorectal cancer. These changes were more significant among male patients' spouses.

Exercise Capacity, Pulmonary Function and Physical Activity Level in Patients Lung Cancer Undergoing...
Pneumonectomy; StatusPneumonectomy is a high-risk surgical procedure, causing impaired respiratory functions and exercise intolerance. It is associated with decreased physical activity, quality of life and increased fatigue. The primary aim of the study is to compare the exercise capacity and respiratory functions of lung cancer patients undergoing pneumonectomy and healthy individuals. The secondary aim of the study is to compare peripheral and respiratory muscle strength, respiratory muscle endurance, physical activity level, shortness of breath, fatigue and quality of life of lung cancer patients undergoing pneumonectomy and healthy individuals.

The Diagnostic Value of Staging Laparoscopy and Computed Tomography Response Assessment in Patients...
Gastric CancerSUMMARY Rationale: Diagnostic laparoscopy (DL) and response assessment after neoadjuvant chemotherapy with computed tomography (CT) are two diagnostic modalities used to assess metastatic spread in gastric cancer patients. It is still unclear in what proportion of patients clinically relevant metastases or other significant findings (e.g. contra-indications of surgery) are detected that impact on the treatment. Objective: To determine the clinical value of diagnostic laparoscopy and computed tomography response assessment after neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with gastric and esophagogastric junction adenocarcinoma. Study design: Multicentre retrospective cohort study. Study population: All Patients with gastric and gastro-oesophageal adenocarcinoma who underwent clinical staging and were discussed at multidisciplinary team meetings (MDT) between January 2016 and December 2018. Intervention (if applicable): Not applicable. Main study parameters/endpoints: The main study parameter is the proportion (%) of patients who do not proceed with treatment as planned after a DL and CT response assessment (i.e. the proportion of patients in which metastasized disease or other contra-indications for surgery is found). Nature and extent of the burden and risks associated with participation, benefit and group relatedness: Since this is an observational study, no burden or risks are associated with participation.

Surgery Plus Intraoperative Radiotherapy as Treatment for Squamous Cell Carcinoma Over Pilonidal...
Squamous Cell CarcinomaPilonidal; Cyst2 moreBackground: Pilonidal sinus is a very common disease. Malignant transformation occurs in 0,1% of patients. The investigators present a case of squamous cell carcinoma arised from recurrent pilonidal disease, managed by multimodal treatment. Case presentation: The investigators present a 70-year-old man with chronic pilonidal sinus. Inflammation had worsened in previous months and exploration revealed a large ulcerative mass which biopsy showed a squamous cell carcinoma. CT scan and MRI imaging showed tumoral invasion of the coccyx and both gluteus major muscles. Neoadjuvant radiotherapy, chemotherapy as radiosensitizer and surgery with intraoperative radiotherapy was decided in the multidisciplinary tumor committee. Post neoadjuvant therapy MRI showed partial response with a decrease of the mass but persistence of the coccyx infiltration. Surgery consisted in en-bloc resection of the tumor with presacral tissues, coccyx and partial gluteal resection. Intraoperative radiotherapy was administered over the sacrum and in the bed of the coccyx resection. One week later, reconstructive surgery was practiced using a latissimus dorsi free flap, advancement of gluteal flaps and skin graft. Histological examination showed no residual tumor. The patient is currently asymptomatic and he has a satisfactory quality of life. Conclusions: Although squamous cell carcinoma is rare, it must be suspected in patients with recurrent pilonidal disease. Diagnosis is done by histological examination of biopsies. This type of tumors have a high local recurrence rate. The investigators propose a multimodal treatment that includes neoadjuvant radiotherapy and chemotherapy as radiosensitizer and surgery plus intraoperative radiotherapy with the aim to decrease local recurrence rate.

Can VI-RADS/ADC Accurately Stage Bladder Cancer??
MRI Contrast Media Adverse ReactionBladder Cancer5 moreVesical Imaging-Reporting And Data System (VI-RADS) is proposed for predicting muscle invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) using multi-parametric MRI. However, No validation study on VI-RADS has been reported yet. Apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values on diffusion-weighted MRI are reportedly significantly lower in MIBC than those in non-MIBC(NMIBC).

Adenocarcinoma of LungThis study is one of Eastern Cooperative Thoracic Oncology Projects (ECTOP-1008). It aims to evaluate the correlation between radiological diagnosis based on HRCT and pathological invasiveness.Investigators observe the radiological features and the correlation with the postoperative pathological findings.

Risk of Venous Thromboembolism in Patients Receiving First-Line Chemotherapy for Disseminated Germ...
Testicular NeoplasmsRecent data (Srikanthan and Tran et al. JCO 2014, in press) have demonstrated that the presence of large retroperitoneal lymph node metastases on baseline staging scans (measuring >5cm in axial dimension) are associated with significantly increased risk of venous thromboembolism in patients receiving first line chemotherapy for disseminated germ cell tumours. This study, a G3 collaborative effort, aims to confirm these findings in a large multi-national validation cohort.

Human Papilloma Virus Vaccination and Chronic Inflammatory Rheumatic Diseases.
Systemic Lupus ErythematosusIdiopathic Juvenile Arthritis1 morePatients with chronic inflammatory rheumatic disease (CIR) are at increased risk for infections. Vaccination is a powerful tool to prevent infections, even in immunocompromised patients. Low-risk types of Human papilloma virus (HPV) cause anogenital warts, while high risk types are strongly related to pre-malignant cervical abnormalities and cervical cancer. HPV vaccines have been developed to prevent these conditions. Human papillomavirus (HPV) infections are more prevalent in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients or other auto-immune diseases when compared to the healthy population. In France, despite a vaccination available since 2007, rate of vaccination remain low. Although little is known about HPV vaccination in SLE, few studies in patients with autoimmune rheumatic diseases (AIRDs) have shown that HPV vaccines are safe, and capable to induce an immunogenic response in this group of patients. To date, available data suggest that HPV vaccines can be given safely to SLE patients. Given the increased incidence of cervical abnormalities due to HPV in SLE patients, this vaccination should be encouraged. The aim of this study was to assess the vaccination coverage rate in chronically ill girls with SLE or idiopathic juvenile arthritis who require a close pediatric specialized follow-up vaccination and to understand barriers or motivations for it.
