The Relapses in Childhood Acute Lymphoplastic Leukemia Excluding L3

LeukemiaAcute

Background: acute lymphoblastic leukemia is the most common childhood cancer and relapse is the main reason for treatment failure in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The aim of this study: is to assess the relapse of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia in pediatric patients treated in the Child's Central Teaching Hospital/ Baghdad. Methods: A retrospective study that reviewed 521 children with newly diagnosed ALL for children below 15 years during the period from 1st of January 2013 to 1st of March 2020 in the hemato-oncology ward in the Child's Central Teaching Hospital in Baghdad, with a total duration of follow-up for two years post last starting treatment (till 1st of March 2022 ).

Retrospective Case Series of COVID19+ Patients Undergoing Orthopedic Surgery

Coronavirus InfectionOrthopedic Disorder3 more

Over the last months, the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute in Bologna, Italy, has drained orthopedic urgencies from all other hospitals in the urban and suburban area. In this context urgencies are defined as fractures and primary or metastatic bone lesions with indication to non-deferrable surgery. A subset of these patients tested positive for SARS CoV 2, either before or after the surgical procedure. Anesthesiological clinical management of covid19 cases is complicated by the consequences of the viral infection on respiratory and cardio-vascular systems, renal function and coagulation. Similarly, management of asymptomatic patients is challenging because of the lack of data on possible specific complications. This study will report a snapshot of our early experience on perioperative clinical management of patients undergoing orthopedic surgery in the presence of SARS CoV 2 infection, ascertained or not at the time of surgery.

Predictive Value of DNA Mismatch Repair System in Colorectal Cancers

MSI-H Colorectal Cancer

Microsatellite instable (MSI) tumors represent almost the 15% of all sporadic colorectal cancers (CRCs). Literature data show that this unique tumor population appears to be poorly responsive to conventional chemotherapy and conversely reveals excellent results to immunotherapy. Our data, as demonstrated by propensity score-matched and win ratio analysis, show that there are no substantial differences between MSI and MSS tumors in early CRC stages treated with surgery alone. On the contrary, stable tumors (MSS) did much better than MSI tumors in advanced CRC stages undergoing conventional adjuvant treatment. Determination of status of DNA mismatch repair system is crucial in high-risk CRCs to optimize treatment.

Expression Analysis of the COPB 2 and Bcl-2 in Early Stages of Endometrial Carcinoma

Endometrial Carcinoma Cellular Diagnosis

COPB2 is a subunit of the intracellular transport system between cell organelles that participates in the regulation of cell division and differentiation. Bcl-2 is a protein that participates in regulating the process of apoptosis. Through the research, investigators tried to examine and establish the correlation of the expression of these two genes in endometrial cancer at an early stage.

Evaluation of Inflammatory Markers in LARC Patients

Locally Advanced Rectal Cancer

Introduction: In locally advanced rectal cancers (LARC), TNM staging is far from optimal. We aimed to investigate the value of previously described circulating biomarkers as predictors of prognosis. Methods: Retrospective analysis of 245 LARC patients diagnosed between January 2010 and December 2022, who underwent neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy and surgery at two centers. A Cox regression and Kaplan-Meier analysis were performed.

Remote Brain Microhaemorrhages May Predict Haematoma in Glioma Patients Treated With Radiation Therapy...

Glioma

the study aim to evaluate the prevalence of cerebral remote microhaemorrhages (RMH) and remote haematomas (RH) using magnetic resonance susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI) among patients treated for gliomas during follow-up.

Intraoperative Fluorescence of Ganglogliomas and Neuroepithelial Dysembryoplastic Tumors

Surgical ProcedureUnspecified

One of the key issues of tumour brain surgeries is to clearly define the borders of the tumor. The investigators proposed to evaluate the feasibility of intraoperative fluorescein guidance. Patients will be identified from the list of patients operated on under fluorescence to collect clinical datas. Surgical videos will be analyzed to assess the presence of intraoperative fluorescence and its subjectively judged intensity. MRI data will be extracted from the radiological reports to assess quality extraction. No additional data will be produced

Is There a Link Between Anatomical Markers of Surgical Difficulty and Incapacity to Reverse Stoma...

Rectal Surgery

Anterior resection with total mesorectal excision (TME) is the standard procedure for mid and low rectal cancers . A colo-rectal anastomosis under peritoneal reflection is, most of the time, protected by a temporary loop stoma to decrease the risk and severity of anastomotic morbidity. This stoma, which is intended to be temporary, appears to be permanent in 6 to 32% of cases in the literature. The main risk factor being anastomotic leakage. Two major risk factors for anastomotic leakage after colorectal surgery are " male sex " and " Body mass index ", which are responsible of a higher anatomical difficulty (Narrow pelvis and bulky mesorectal fat) Therefore, the objective of this study is to look for a statistical link between permanent stoma and intraoperative difficulty represented by pelvic anatomical constraints.
