Comparison With Open and Totally Laparoscopic Gastrectomy for Gastric Cancer

Gastric Cancer

In gastric cancer, laparoscopic gastrectomy is commonly performed in Asian countries. In other regions where tumor incidence is relatively low and patient characteristics are different, developments in this issue have been limited. In this study, the investigators aimed to compare the early results for patients who underwent open or laparoscopic gastrectomy for gastric cancer in a center in Turkey.

A Multicenter Study Evaluating the Effectiveness of Endo.Angel in Improving the Quality of Colonoscopy...

Adenoma

Colonoscopy is a key technique in the detection and diagnosis of lower gastrointestinal diseases. High quality endoscopy results in better disease outcomes. However, the operant level of different endoscopists is significantly different. This study aims to construct a real-time quality monitoring system based on computer vision, named Endo.Angel, which is used to monitor the velocity of insertion of the endoscope, record the time of insertion and withdrawal of the endoscope, and remind endoscopists of the blind areas caused by intestinal segment slipping.

Novel Screening Modality for Early Gastric Cancer

Gastric Cancer

Potential patients will be recruited at participating sites based on routine care with clinical indications for upper endoscopy. Following informed consent, patients will undergo their scheduled endoscopy with standard forceps biopsies along with the transepithelial brush samples. All samples, biopsy and brush samples, will be sent for pathology analysis, per standard clinical practice.

A Reminder App to Reduce Radiation Dermatitis Rates in Patients With Head-and-Neck Cancer

Radiation DermatitisRadiation-induced Oral Mucositis

The goal of this randomized trial is to investigate whether the addition of a reminder app to standard care leads to a reduction of dermatitis and oral mucositis during radio(chemo)therapy for locally advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the head-and-neck (SCCHN). The primary endpoint is the rate of patients experiencing grade ≥2 radiation dermatitis at 60 Gy of radiotherapy. 80 patients are required per arm within the full analysis set. Taking into account that 5% of patients will not qualify for full analysis set, 168 patients should be randomized. If the addition of a reminder app to standard care will result in a significant reduction of radiation toxicity, it could become a helpful tool for these patients.

An Expanded Access Treatment Protocol of Enfortumab Vedotin in Subjects With Locally Advanced or...

Locally Advanced or Metastatic Urothelial Carcinoma (UC)

The primary purpose of this expanded access program is to evaluate safety and tolerability of enfortumab vedotin (EV) in participants in the United States with locally advanced or metastatic urothelial carcinoma (UC) who have exhausted standard of care therapies and are not eligible to participate in an ongoing EV clinical study. This program will also evaluate the efficacy of EV.

Measuring Fatty Acid Oxidation in Gliomas Using 18F-FPIA PET/MRI

Glioma

Glioma is the most common primary malignant brain tumour in adults and has an extremely poor prognosis. The aim of this study is to quantify the degree of early step fatty acid oxidation in gliomas as imaged by 18F-FPIA PET/MRI in 10 evaluable patients. The Investigators hypothesise that FPIA uptake will be higher in high-grade gliomas compared to lower grade gliomas, in keeping with a higher propensity of high grade tumours to generate ATP and NADPH via fatty acid oxidation under bioenergetic stress.

Applying PET/MR in Rectal Cancer.

Rectal Cancer

The use of the novel recently introduced PET/MR scanner is believed to be promising in RC management, providing great anatomical details and detailed metabolic characterization. Preliminary data indicate it may become a strong imaging modality for staging of RC and has the potential to be used as a predictive tool guiding individualized therapy in patients receiving nT, but confirmation on prospective studies is mandatory. The use of radiomics as analysis approach may assist in achieving a better understanding of the obtained image data, and thus a more accurate disease assessment. Objectives To preliminary assess the potential diagnostic value of single PET/MR scan in RC staging and compare it to that of MRI alone, PET/CT alone, and combined MRI and PET/CT. To preliminary assess the potential value of PET/MR in predicting pMR to nT. To use radiomics analysis of PET/MR data to develop a quantification clinical tools that allow a more accurate and comprehensive assessment of RC patients.

Implementing HPV DNA Self-Collection to Increase Rates of Cervical Cancer Screening in Transgender...

TransgenderismCervical Cancer1 more

Transgender men are individuals born genetically female that have a gender identity that is incongruent with their biological sex. For those who have begun or completed transition, they may present as males but still have a uterus and cervix. Thus far, no distinction has been made between routine cervical cancer screening guidelines in non-transgender women and those for transgender men, despite wide variations in sexual practices, including lifelong vaginal abstinence. The purpose of this study is to offer transgender men seen at clinic visits self-collected HPV testing to evaluate for improved cervical cancer screening rates, as well as a survey to further investigate sexual practices, rates of appropriate screening prior to being offered self-collection, and barriers to obtaining appropriate care.

Impact of Suction in the EUS-guided Fine Needle Biopsy of Solid Pancreatic Lesions

BiopsyFine-Needle2 more

Tissue acquisition by Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) has become a modality of diagnosis and clinical orientation for several diseases. Although tissue acquisition traditionally involves the cytological diagnosis (using fine-needle aspiration/FNA), the importance of obtaining a core for histological examination (by fine-needle biopsy/FNB) has recently been recognized. Currently, there is no clear establishment of the usefulness of syringe suction for the diagnostic accuracy of solid pancreatic lesions when FNB is used. Because of that, the investigators aimed to compare sensitivity, sample adequacy, and diagnostic yield of solid pancreatic lesions EUS-guided sampling using with and without syringe suction. The study will be conducted on a consecutive sample of patients proposed to perform EUS for solid pancreatic lesions characterization, in which the clinical and imaging findings justify the need for an FNB. For each case, FNB will be performed using two punctures: one with 20mL syringe suction, and another without suction. The order in which they will be performed will be known only by the performing physician and the nursing team at the time that FNB is proposed. This information will be concealed from the pathologist responsible for sample analysis. Clinical care during and after the procedure will follow the existing guidelines. Participants will undergo a single clinical evaluation (at the time of endoscopy and recovery) without the need for follow-up visits.
