
New Strategies to Assess Anal Cancer Risk In Women
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)Human Papillomavirus (HPV)The purpose of this research is to study different strategies to identify women at highest risk for anal cancer. Primarily, investigators want to study a risk assessment called the Anal Cancer Risk Index; it gives women an overall number score based on risk factors that they may have for anal cancer, such as age, number of sexual partners, or smoking. Investigators seek to understand whether women with higher Anal Cancer Risk Index scores are more likely to have abnormal results on anal pap smears, HPV tests, or anal biopsies. The study team will collect swabs of the cervix and the anus to study different laboratory tests that could identify women at highest risk of cervical and anal cancer. These laboratory tests include an anal pap smear, tests for markers of disease and tests that detect the HPV types most likely to cause cancer. The study team would like to see which of these laboratory tests do the best job at predicting precancerous lesions in the anus and are better indicators of risk for cancer. After collecting these swabs, women will have a procedure called high resolution anoscopy where investigators look closely at the anus and biopsy any suspicious areas. Finally, the study team will look for HPV proteins and changes that HPV can make in cells to see if these tests predict anal lesions.

The burden of surgical wound complications in the lower extremity after preoperative external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) for soft tissue sarcoma is estimated at 43%. A noninvasive method of predicting complications would be extremely beneficial. The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship between preoperative skin oxygenation and wound outcomes in a multi-center prospective analysis. This information could lead to a change in practice regarding surgical timing and adjunctive interventions to improve wound healing outcomes.

Early Stage Lung Cancer Screening With Low-dose Computed Tomographic
Lung CancerThe present study is a randomized controlled trial of LDCT screening for lung cancer versus usual care. 6000 high-risk subjects (age 45-70) were recruited and randomized to the Active arm (Baseline + 2 biennial repeated LDCT screening) or to the Passive arm, followed up in usual care (Baseline + 2 biennial repeated questionnaire inquiries). Follow-up for lung cancer incidence, lung cancer mortality and overall mortality was performed. Blood samples were stored from the Active arm in a Biobank. Management of positive screening test was carried out by a pre-specified protocol.

Review of the Paediatric Pleuropulmonary Blastoma French Series
Pleuropulmonary BlastomaPleuropulmonary blastoma is a rare embryonic malignant tumour that remains the most frequent malignant tumour of the lung in childhood. The International Pleuro pulmonary Blastoma Registry (IPPB) found only 220 cases in 2009 and 350 in 2015. In France, 20 cases were identified in 2009. Three histologies are described: type 1 purely cystic, type 2 combined and type 3 solid. Median age at diagnostic is 12 months, 35 months and 41 months respectively. Evolution is possible from type 1 to type 2 or 3 in 10% of the cases. Since 2009, DICER 1 mutations research is proposed systematically to all families. PPB symptoms are usually non-specific. Diagnostic is evoked when imaging work up shows bubbles or solid lesions, and confirmed by pathological analysis. However the diagnosis can be difficult because of the proximity with congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation. The French society of paediatric oncology recommends surgery at first instance. PPB type 1 remains a problem because some are still misdiagnosed as CCAM, a benign lesion. Chemotherapy depends on the PPB type and the quality of the resection. There is a real interest to analyse the French series. The prognosis of type 2 and 3 is low with a 5 years survival rate of 45-60%, whereas type 1 survival rate is 91%. The French experience reports a 100% survival rate in type 1 and 48% in type 2 and 3. Other prognostic factors are initial size of the tumour, extra pulmonary invasion and quality of surgery. Early local relapses are possible and late ones concern more often type 2 and 3 with more cerebral metastasis. In 2009, the french cases were collected, but no update has been performed since. The aim of this retrospective review of the cases since 2000, is to audit the care of PPB patients in France and update the French rare tumour database. Evoking PPB diagnosis is difficult when imaging shows a neonatal cystic lesion. There are no radiologic criteria in the literature that differentiate congenital pulmonary cystic lesion and PPB type 1. Radiological presentation is however overlapping. Another aim of this study will be to look for a predictive sign of type 1 PPB.

NBI for Identifying Resection Margin Status in Gastric Cancer
Gastric CancerAs the proportion of early gastric cancer has been steadily increased in Korea, so has function-preserving surgery. The function preserving surgery is characterized by the minimized extent of gastrectomy, so this implies that bilateral margins are getting shorter than those of standard gastrectomies. Currently, there is only one way to identify resection margin status in gastric cancer, 'frozen biopsy'. However, it is labor-intensive and time-consuming procedure. In addition, the results rely on the pathologist's expertise, thereby it showed limitation of its accuracy; high false negative rate of signet ring cell carcinoma was reported in a previous study. Recently, many studies on magnifying endoscopy with narrow band imaging(NBI) demonstrated that this emerging technique is useful to identify the gastric tumor margin more clearly in vivo, compared with conventional indigocarmine chromoendoscopy. So it was hypothesized that NBI may allow reliable delineation of tumor and identification of resection margin status in the specimen after gastrectomy for gastric cancer.
