Cytogenetic and Molecular Genetic Studies in Bone Sarcomas
Lung CancerTo establish a serial ascertainement of specimens from patients with bone sarcomas to be used in ongoing cytogenetic and molecular genetic analyses. These data will be integrated and correlated with the established Orthopaedic Service clinical database.

Splinting for Dupuytren's Contracture Release
Dupuytren's DiseaseThis study is comparing two different kinds of splints for patients who have had a surgical contracture release of dupuytren's disease. It compares a static splint and a dynamic splint.

Ethnopharmacological Studies in Oral Medicine
Oral PainOral Ulcers1 moreThese are ethnomedicine studies of plants used by rural and indigenous peoples for pain and oral inflammation relief.

Cone Beam CT Scanning in Lung and Bladder Cancer.
Lung NeoplasmSmall Cell Carcinoma1 moreTo study changes in tumor and normal organ size and/or position which occur during a course of radiation treatments.

Pyrosequencing of the BRAFV600E Mutation
Thyroid NeoplasmsTo investigate the diagnostic efficiency of pyrosequencing for the mutant BRAF allele in ultrasound (US)-guided fine needle aspiration biopsies (FNAB) of thyroid incidentalomas.

Feasibility Evaluation of Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Positron Emission Tomography for Bladder...
Bladder CancerTransitional Cell CarcinomaThe purpose of this study is to to find out if the MRI and PET scans can truly stage patients with bladder cancer. Both scans use newer ways to find out if your disease has grown beyond the bladder. The radioactive tracer used for the PET scan is called C-11 Acetate. We want to see if PET scan will be able to take a picture of the inside of your body that is better than other scans such as the CT scan and MRI. Therefore, the findings of the PET scan will be compared with other imaging studies as well as the surgical findings.

A Prospective, Single Blinded Study for Predicting Colon Polyp Histology With Narrow Band Imaging...
ColonoscopyAdenomatous Polyp1 moreThe investigators hypothesize that NBI will have a high accuracy in predicting polyp histology real time during a colonoscopy by visualization of the surface mucosal and vascular patterns. Aim#1: To determine the sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of NBI and standard white light colonoscopy for predicting polyp histology by evaluating the surface mucosal and vascular patterns during colonoscopy. Aim#2: To determine the inter-observer agreement between investigators for the recognition of various polyp patterns.

Vibration Response Imaging (VRI) in Lung Cancer Patients
Lung CancerPrimary Objective: To estimate the accuracy of the pre-operative VRI QRF (Quantitative Regional Function) results versus the gold standard QRRVP (Quantitative Radionuclide Study of Regional Lung Ventilation and Perfusion) pre-operative scan. Secondary Objective: To assess the correlation of the predicted post-operative lung function with the observed post-operative lung function (FEV1 and DLCO) in patients who underwent surgical resection. (FEV1 = Forced expiratory volume in 1-second. DLCO = Diffusion capacity for carbon monoxide. ppo = predicted postoperative.)

Real-Time Internet Evaluation of Swallowing
Head and Neck CancerStrokeThe purpose of this study is to determine whether real-time internet evaluations of swallowing, or x-ray swallow studies viewed over closed internet circuit, are a reliable method of evaluating swallowing function.

Optical Biopsy of Human Skin in Conjunction With Laser Treatment
Malignant MelanomaMerkel Cell Carcinoma13 moreThis study is to compare the ability of optical biopsy. Research can use light enters the skin, collected, analyzed by the computer, and a picture created for the pathologist to conventional histologic examination compare with the pathologist looking at the piece of tissue through a microscope makes the diagnosis.
