Identification of New Diagnostic Protein Markers for Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal Cancer

The search for biochemical markers in patient's blood for non-invasive colorectal cancer diagnostic has not yielded satisfactory results to date. The search for blood in the stool by enzymatic techniques has certainly allowed the diminution of colorectal cancer mortality but its low sensitivity is still a disadvantage. The new immunological tests for search blood test in the stool are more sensitive and more specific but still insufficient. The originality of this project is based on the use of new technology developed in fundamental research based on the detection of circulating exosomes from tumor cells in the patient's serum. The detection of protein markers transported by tumor exosomes is original and innovative approach because it's still not considered in the literature. The use of innovative and non-invasive health technologies for the patient is an important factor in the care of patients in their health care journey. The non-invasive nature of the project could reduce the reticence of patients to participate in cancer screening. The results expected from the study can have a direct impact on the management of patients suspected of having colon cancer and thus make it possible to optimize the earliness of their diagnosis.

Near-infrared Fluorescence With Indocyanine Green for Identification of Sentinels and Parathyroids...

Thyroid CancerThyroid Carcinoma5 more

Indocyanine green (ICG) is a water-soluble organic dye that is cleared totally through the hepatobiliary system. It has a half-life of 3-4 mins, which allows repeated applications. Near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence imaging with indocyanine green (ICG) imaging has been recently introduced, and has been suggested as a useful tool for the identification and preservation of the parathyroid glands (PGs) during total thyroidectomy (TT). ICG can also be used for sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy to predict the micrometastases in central lymph nodes (CLN) in thyroid carcinoma, and central lymph node dissection can reduce local recurrence.

Comparison of Voice Results at 5 Years of Treatment of Glottic Squamous Cell Carcinoma T1 by Surgery...

Glottic Carcinoma

Patients with early-stage squamous cell carcinomas of the vocal cord can be treated in an equivalent way in terms of carcinology by surgery or radiotherapy. The study will be to analyse the vocal outcome at 5 years of these two types of management in order to define whether one is superior to the other on this criterion of voice quality after treatment.

A Single Center Study on Comparing the Different Function of EndoAngel in Improving the Quality...

Adenoma

An artificial intelligence-based system, named EndoAngel, has been constructed previously, which has polyp detection and quality monitoring functions. This study aims to evaluate the two different functions of EndoAngle in improving adenoma detection rate.

Mobile High-Resolution Microendoscopy (mHRME) for the Detection of Cervical Dysplasia in El Salvador...

Cervical Cancer

Evaluate the performance of the mHRME in a study of 3,000 women in San Salvador to assess whether mHRME imaging improves specificity of screening by VIA or HPV DNA without reducing sensitivity for cervical precancer and cancer.

FNA Guided Ultrasonography Needle Technique Axial Vs Lateral Approach Study

Thyroid Nodule

Ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) has been proven to be an accurate and efficient tool in thyroid nodule evaluation. Thyroid nodule aspiration is performed by the use of either two techniques; the short axis approach by which only the tip of the needle is observed, or the long axis approach by which the entire needle is observed. Controversial remains of which approach produces better diagnostic adequacy and less non-diagnostic (Bethesda category I) results.

Quality of Life After Rectal Cancer Surgery

Rectal CancerQuality of Life

Following colorectal surgery, many patients face a combination of physical and emotional problems for a long period of time. Symptoms such as pain, fatigue, and disturbed bowel and sexual function, as well as problems in social and role functioning, inevitably affect the patients' well-being. Therefore, evaluation of the self-reported quality of life (QoL) is becoming increasingly important in clinical trials. The investigators aimed to compare long term health related life quality (HRQoL) results of laparoscopic approach with open approach in patients with sphincter preserving resections for rectal cancer at a single-center.

An INternational Frontline Ovarian Cancer Real World Management Study

Ovarian Neoplasms

The current study aims to analyze the existing secondary databases from Korea (Sungkyunkwan University, Samsung Medical Center, Seoul), Taiwan (National Taiwan University, Chang-Gung Medical Foundation Linkou Branch and Mackay Memorial Hospital), and Australia (Australian Ovarian Cancer Study [AOCS]) to leverage the already available data in the real-world setting to review the current standard of care in advanced epithelial ovarian cancer cases. The collected data will help provide the required information for assessing the unmet treatment needs in this patient group. The data will also provide the needed information to support any reimbursement activity needed for future novel therapies in this patient group

Audit of Surgery for Colorectal Cancer

Rectal AdenocarcinomaColon Adenocarcinoma

The aim of this project is to audit the surgical care in patients treated for colorectal adenocarcinoma. This study focused on collecting data from all consecutive cases of colon and rectal adenocarcinoma operated at the National Institute of Oncology in Rabat during a two-years period. Using standardized forms, the investigators collected data relating to each stage of treatment: pre-therapeutic, surgical and post-operative in order to measure the quality of the surgical care delivered. These results were compared to established benchmarks and to similar audit studies carried out in other countries around the world.
