Screening for Anal Cancer in Women With High-grade Vulvar Dysplasia or Vulvar Cancer.

Vulvar CancerCervical Cancer5 more

Almost half of all women will develop an HPV infection in their lifetime. While most infections are naturally asymptomatic or cleared by the immune system, some persist and can lead to the development of cervical, vulvar, or anal lesions and eventually cancer. Screening regimens for these lesions are currently only in place for the cervix through regular Pap tests. These Pap tests usually involve an examination of the vulva -however, no screening procedures exist for anal cancer for women. Several studies have suggested that women with existing gynecological lesions are more likely to develop anal lesions and anal cancer. Here the investigators propose a multi-center study which seeks to screen for and treat anal cancer in women over the age of 40 with vulvar lesions and a stable immune system. The investigators will achieve this through performing anal Pap smears on eligible women and conducting High Resolution Anoscopy (HRA) and appropriate treatment procedures on those with abnormal anal cells. With enough evidence, there may be an indication to establish regular anal cancer screening measures in this potentially underserved population. Hypothesis: The investigators hypothesize that at least 40% of women with vulvar cancer or VIN2/3 will have abnormal anal cytology. 35% of the population will be hrHPV DNA positive and 11% will additionally have AIN2/3. This prospective study may lay the groundwork for routine anal screening regimens in Ontario and help shift health policy to treat this population.

EGFRdelEx19 and KRAS Exon 2 Mutation Detection in EBUS-TBNA

Lung Adenocarcinoma Metastatic

First-line treatment with afatinib prolongs overall survival in patients with metastatic non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) harboring EGFR exon 19 deletion mutations. Conversely, somatic KRAS mutations are negative predictors for benefit from EGFR-targeting agents. In this study we want to compare a new highly sensitive method for the detection of EGFRdelEx19 and KRAS Exon 2 with targeted-resequencing multiplex-PCR (NGS).

Two Cancers, One Gene. Why Some People in Families Develop Melanoma or Pancreas Cancer, While Still...

Pancreas CancerMelanoma

Individuals who are affected with pancreas cancer and melanoma as well as those without either cancer who have been identified as 1st or 2nd degree relatives of family members with pancreas cancer and melanoma will be asked to participate. The participant will be asked to complete a survey about their health and family history of cancer and to give a blood sample for specific gene testing and storage for future research studies. The overall goal of this study is to understand the factors that increase susceptibility and expression of pancreatic cancer and melanoma in high risk families.

Is wGRS Associated With DD Recurrence?

Dupuytren Contracture

Rationale: Retrospectively reviewing the participants of the GODDAF database, revealed a significant association between the weighted genetic risk score and Dupuytren disease recurrence. However, a significant dose-response relation was not found. This might be caused by underestimating the recurrence rate, due to the retrospective nature of determining recurrence. Therefore, we want to do a follow-up measurement of the GODDAF participants, to see whether they suffered from recurrent disease. Objective: We aim to determine whether the wGRS is associated with recurrent DD. Study design: An observational study, in which the participants of the GODDAF study are followed up. Study population: Patients affected by Dupuytren disease, aged 18-96 years, who were previously included in another study on the genetic basis of Dupuytren disease. Intervention (if applicable): NA Main study parameters/endpoints: The main study parameter is the presence of recurrent Dupuytren disease.

Prospective Cohort on Quality of Sexual Life Among Men Who Have Sex With Men Treated for Anal Cancer...

Anal CancerQuality of Life

Treatment of anal cancer has been always linked to quality of life. Recently, with development on radiotherapy technique, toxicities have been lowered with the maintenance of adequate rates of disease control. This trial intends to follow patients prospectively with questionnaires to evaluate sexual quality of life among patients who are who men who have sex with other men and have been subject to concurrent chemoradiotherapy with IMRT technique.
