HORIZONS: Understanding the Impact of Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment on Everyday Life

Breast Cancer FemaleBreast Neoplasm18 more

The purpose of this study is to invite all people diagnosed with cancer who meet the eligibility criteria to complete questionnaires before their treatment begins and at regular intervals over time to assess the impact of cancer and its treatment on people's lives in the short, medium and long term. We will explore a range of factors to determine their role in both recovery of health and well-being and self-management. Although it is known that people who have had cancer are likely to experience a number of physical and psychological problems as a result of the disease and treatment, it is not known what the 'typical' course of recovery of health and well-being looks like, how long it takes and how this can be influenced. We will determine pathways to recovery of health and well-being following cancer diagnosis (initially breast cancer diagnosed <50 years, Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and gynaecological cancers) and identify what factors influence this. This includes assessing the relative importance of the person's illness, personal attributes, perceived burden of treatment, role of the environment they live in, including health / social care and personal networks of support, and their ability and capacity to self-manage. We will identify who is most at risk of problems and what environmental supports and resources people are able to mobilise to support their self-management. We will also explore who has the confidence and ability to manage during and beyond treatment and what factors influence this and whether this leads to earlier problem resolution and restoration of health and well-being. This knowledge will be used to develop and test future supportive interventions to enhance the rapid recovery of health and well-being - our long term aim being to design ways of helping people with cancer in areas we identify as problematic for them.

Evaluation of ProALL miRs in Blood Specimen for Prediction of ALL Relapse Risk

B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Previous findings have shown that a biomarker comprised of the three microRNAs (miRs) miR-451, miR-151-5p and miR-1290 can independently predict precursor B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B- ALL) patients' risk for relapse when measured in cells from a bone marrow (BM) aspiration taken at diagnosis (Avigad et al., 2016: Genes, Chromosomes & Cancer 55:328-339). Curewize Health recognizes that the development of a minimally invasive blood test for frequent long-term monitoring can greatly benefit pediatric precursor B-ALL patients. Therefore, the current study will investigate the monitoring ability of miR-451, miR-151-5p and miR-1290 measured in blood samples. The study will be performed in two stages: Stage 1-Cross-Sectional Study: Blood samples will be collected from relapsed pediatric B-ALL patients and B-ALL patients in remission. Blood will be collected from each patient in three tubes, for serum, plasma and whole blood analysis, in order to interpret the best blood source for measuring miR-451, miR-151-5p and miR-1290. The level of the miRs in blood will be compared between relapsed B-ALL patients to B-ALL patients in remission. If the Stage 1 Cross-Sectional study is successful, the investigators will continue the clinical trials to the Stage 2 Prospective Monitoring study. Stage 2-Prospective Monitoring Study: Blood will be collected from patients at diagnosis and at routine clinical follow-up. Patients can be up to five years from diagnosis. The source of blood found to be most optimal for measuring the miR levels is Stage 1 will be collected. The final design of the Stage 2 study will be decided after completion of the Stage 1 study.

Optimisation of Disease Management in Patients With Epithelial Ovarian Cancer in France

Ovarian Epithelial Cancer

No structured organization for ovarian first line management emerges in France. Management across France seems to depend on regional contexts. Regions display no specific organization or delineate regional network for the ovarian cancer management or report centralized management revolving around referent centers. These different templates present a major problem in identifying differences, costs and benefit. To deal with this issue the Investigators propose a health economic evaluation based on cost-effectiveness analyses, completed with a budget impact analysis. This study will investigate the cost-effective management of patients with initial ovarian cancer using databases representative of different parts of French territories.

Detection of CSF Next Generation Sequencing in the Application of Brain Metastases From Lung Adenocarcinoma...

Recruitment

This study aimed to detect cell free DNA (cfDNA) in the cerebrospinal fluid and plasma, and to determine whether cfDNA can be used for concomitant diagnosis to improve the treatment efficacy and prognosis of patients with brain (meningeal) metastasis by monitoring tumor-related genetic mutations in cfDNA in the plasma and cerebrospinal fluid.

Evaluation of Diagnostic Efficiency of PIVKA-II and Other Tumor Markers in HCC

Hepatocellular Carcinoma

The incidence of Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is increasing worldwide. However, most of HCC cases were at advanced stage when the diagnosis established.Early diagnosis improves the prognosis. The study is intended to evaluate the diagnostic efficiency of Protein Induced by Vitamin K Absence or antagonist-II(PIVKA-II). This study is a international multicenter study joined by several hospitals in China,Singapore,Thailand and Vietnam. Participants including healthy control,HCC,metastatic liver cancer,Hepatitis B virus(HBV) and liver cirrhosis are consecutively recruited into the cohort. All the serum samples are collected before any treatments and will be tested in single center in order to decrease bias. Serum samples were tested for PIVKA-II,alpha-fetoprotein and biochemical indexes including alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),gamma-glutamyl transferase(GGT),alpha-l-fucosidase(AFU),etc.

Effect of the Plasma EBV DNA Change During Chemoradiotherapy in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) has been proven to process a strong association in patient of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Monitoring plasma EBV DNA in NPC patients can provide reliable informations in early detecting tumor recurrence or risk grouping.

Endoscopic Resection Multicenter Registry

Gastrointestinal NeoplasmsGastrointestinal Disease11 more

This is a retrospective and prospective multicenter registry to collect long-term data (1 year) on patients who have or will undergo Endoscopic resection such as EMR, ESD, EFTR, STER, etc. within the gastrointestinal tract for endoscopic treatment of early gastrointestinal neoplasms involving the resection of the superficial layers, mucosa and submucosa, of the tract wall. Subjects will be consented for medical chart review. The purpose of this retrospective and prospective registry is to assess long term data on efficacy, safety and clinical outcome of Endoscopic Resection within the gastrointestinal tract (1 year). The registry will evaluate efficacy, technical feasibility, clinical outcome, safety profile and overall clinical management through medical chart review. The procedures the investigators are evaluating are all clinically indicated and will not be prescribed to someone to participate in this registry study.
