Derivation and Validation of a Scoring System to Distinguish Cryptococcosis and Adenocarcinoma in...

CryptococcosisLung Adenocarcinoma

Pulmonary cryptococcosis often manifests as isolated or multiple nodules, easily mimicking lung cancer clinically and radiologically, which ascribes the poor sensitivity of Cryptococcus culture and rarely positive of Cryptococcal antigen test in the absence of disseminated disease. Therefore, the aim of this study was to develop a predictive scoring system from the perspective of available clinical indicators, to differentiate cryptococcosis from adenocarcinoma in pulmonary nodules, which might be beneficial for the delicacy management of pulmonary nodules.

Translational Analysis In Longitudinal Series of Ovarian Cancer ORganoids

OrganoidsEpithelial Ovarian Cancer

This is a longitudinal observational phase II, single center, single arm study on the reliability of high grade serous ovarian carcinoma organoids obtained from primary debulking surgery (PDS)+adjuvant chemotherapy and neoadjuvant chemotherapy + interval debulking surgery (NACT+IDS) cases as model for the patients' response to treatments. Since organoids represent a model system comparable to patient-derived xenografts, the investigators tested the null hypothesis that the possibility of correctly identifying the drug-sensitivity could improve from 80%, as assessed by xenografts to at least 95%. The first step was planned to include 7 patients; if 5 or more patients do not respond, the trial will be terminated. If the trial goes on to the second stage, a total of 43 patients will be studied. Considering a patient dropout of approximately 10%, the study was planned to enroll at least 48 patients.

Circulating and Imaging Biomarkers to Improve Lung Cancer Management and Early Detection

Lung Cancer

Validation of biomolecular markers in the circulation and radiomic features are the focus of this project. The aim is to assess the role of molecular and cellular biomarkers (exosomes antigens, Circulating tumor cells - CTCs, panel of mutations in circulating free DNA) and radiomic signature, as complementary to assist early detection of lung cancer by LDCT.

Androcur® (Cyproterone Acetate) and Meningioma Development: a Genotype-environment Association Study...

Meningioma

The primary objective of the study is to create a biobank of oral smears permitting to identify the genetic locus/loci associated with an increased risk to develop meningiomas after cyproterone acetate (CPA) (Androcur®) treatment, using a GWAS approach. As the secondary objectives, the study aims: to evaluate the importance of the genetic susceptibility. to record the frequence of homonodependant cancers occuring in female patients with Androcur® associated meningioma and in their first-degree relatives. to describe clinical, radiological, histological characteristics of the patients who have developed meningioma after cyproterone acetate exposure.

Validity and Reliability of the Turkish Version of the Head and Neck Cancer Inventory

Quality of LifeHead and Neck Cancer

The primary treatment option of many patients with head and neck cancer is surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. In the literature, functional problems that occur after surgical interventions applied to head and neck cancer patients are frequently mentioned. Morbidities resulting from the combined application of radiotherapy and chemotherapy are based on more anecdotal information and critical data on long-term functional outcomes in this patient group are scarce. The aim of this study is to make the validity, reliability and cultural adaptation of the Head and Neck Cancer Inventory in Turkish.

Validation of Multiparametric Models and Circulating and Imaging Biomarkers to Improve Lung Cancer...

Lung Cancer

CLEARLY will focus on validation of a multifactorial "bio-radiomic" protocol for early diagnosis of lung cancer that combines circulating biomarkers and radiomic analysis. It will (a) assess the role of molecular and cellular biomarkers (exosomes, protein signatures, circulating tumor cells - CTCs, microRNA) and radiomic signature, as complementary to assist early detection of lung cancer by low dose computed tomography-LDCT, using bioinformatics techniques; (b) assess the prognostic role of CTCs including the role of cells epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) and (c) standardize a method for genomic analysis of CTCs for early detection of treatment resistance.

Assessment Of Long Noncoding RNA CCAT1 In Colorectal Cancer Patients

Colorectal Cancer

Evaluate the diagnostic value of long noncoding RNA (CCAT1) expression by RT-PCR in peripheral blood in colorectal cancer patients versus normal healthy control personal. Evaluate the clinical utility of detecting long noncoding RNA (CCAT1) expression in diagnosis of colorectal cancer patients & its relation to tumor staging. Evaluate the clinical utility of detecting long noncoding RNA (CCAT1) expression in precancerous colorectal diseases. Compare long noncoding RNA (CCAT1) expression with traditional marker; carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and Carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9) in diagnosis of colorectal cancer.

Minimal Residual Disease Evaluation on Cryopreserved Ovarian Fragments in Younger Patients Treated...

Acute Myeloid Leukemia

Cryopreservation of ovarian cortex represents an option for fertility preservation in patients diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and requiring allogeneic stem cell transplantation. This pilot study aims to evaluate the minimal residual disease on ovarian fragments harvested before allogeneic stem cell transplantation at the time of complete remission.
