Long Non Coding RNA HOTAIR and Midkine as Biomarkers in Thyroid Cancer
Thyroid CancerThyroid cancer is the most prevalent endocrine malignancy.Papillary thyroid carcinomas and follicular thyroid carcinomas account for 95% of all thyroid cancer cases. They are clinically classified as well-differentiated thyroid carcinomas due to their biological behavior resembling normal follicular cells and good responsiveness to surgery and radioiodine therapy . However, they are usually curable when discovered at early stages, but survival rates may be reduced from 100% in stages I and II to 50% at stage IV So,early detection is the key for successful treatment and reduction of mortality. pathological analysis by fine-needle aspiration biopsies has some limitations including difficulty in sampling small tumors, inconclusive diagnosis in up to 35% of patients and bleeding. Thus, biomarkers for diagnosis are needed.

Small Bowel Endoscopic Evaluation in Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP)
Familial Adenomatous PolyposisBackground and study aim The relative risks of duodenal adenocarcinoma and ampullary carcinoma in Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP) have been estimated 100 to 330 times higher than in general population. However risk factors, including a genotype-phenotype association for duodenal cancer in FAP has not been fully understood. The aim of this study is to determine risk factors associated with the development of advanced duodenal polyposis and ampullary adenomas in colectomized patients with FAP.

The Value Of Circulating Tumor Cells In Patient With NSCLC In Postoperative Recurrence Monitoring...
Non-small-cell Lung CarcinomaThe purpose of this study is to assess the value of circulating tumor cells (CTC)for non-small cell lung cancer in the postoperative recurrence monitoring by comparing the CTCs, CT and tumor markers at different time points. The time of CTC and carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA) detection is baseline, 2~7 days, 3 months, 6 months, 12 months, 24 months, 36 months after the surgery. And the time of CT detection is 6 months, 12 months, 24 months, 36 months after the surgery.

Molecular Analysis in Peritoneal Washing Citology for Locally Advanced Gastric Cancer
Gastric CancerPolymerase Chain ReactionGastric carcinoma is a disease with a high mortality. Peritoneal washing cytology has a recognized prognostic utility. However sensibility of this study is not appropriate. Studies with PCR (polymerase chain retrotranscription) can increase sensibility and accurate staging information. Objective: To analyze the sensibility and specificity of the expression of CK20, CEA and Ber-EP4 with PCR technique in peritoneal washings of advanced gastric carcinoma without clinical evidence of peritoneal carcinomatosis. Methodology: Retrotranscription analysis (RT-PCR) and quantitative PCR (qPCR) of CK20, CEA and Ber-EP4 in peritoneal washing. Test the feasibility of qPCR with this new marker (Ber-EP4). Comparison of the results with data obtained with conventional cytology. Study of peritoneal recurrence.

Validation of Low Anterior Resection Syndrome Score in Korean Version
Neoplasm of RectumSurgery--Complications1 moreIn contemporary era of rectal cancer treatment, development of surgical technique and tool, adaptation of chemoradiation therapy, as well as multidisciplinary approach have led increased survival as well as rate of sphincter preservation. However, poor anorectal function, such as fecal incontinence and/or urgency, has also been increased. Such anorectal dysfunction is named as low anterior resection syndrome, and its rate has been reported in 40 to 90% in rectal cancer patients who received sphincter preserving surgery. Low anterior resection syndrome is known to debilitate quality of life in survivors of rectal cancer. Previously, several studies attempted to evaluate the low anterior resection syndrome via questionnaires and scoring system. Adapting the low anterior resection syndrome score system created in Denmark, this study investigates the validity of the scoring system in Korean language.
