In this interventional clinical trial, researchers will administer electroacupuncture versus sham electroacupuncture to sepsis patients with ARDS and collect objective outcome measures. The study will be divided into 2 groups. The EA group will receive electroacupuncture and the SHAM-EA group will receive sham electroacupuncture. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of electroacupuncture on the synthesis of SPMs in sepsis patients with ARDS.

Bilateral Vocal Cord Paralysis

The goal of this clinical investigation is to learn about the use of a novel medical device, the SPIRION Laryngeal Pacemaker, in patients suffering from bilateral vocal fold paralysis (BVFP) and who have had at least one related surgery on one of their vocal folds. The main questions it aims to answer are: Is the use of the device safe? Does the device improve the participants ability to take a breath? Participants will be implanted with the SPIRION Laryngeal Pacemaker and the development of their symptoms will be observed for the following 2 years.

COVID-19 is associated with a high risk of complications from the central nervous system. Syndrome of cognitive disorders- in terms of memory, attention or executive functions among COVID-19 convalescents is often called brain fog (covid fog - CF). CF leads to psychomotor retardation and chronic fatigue syndrome, resulting in poor functioning and low quality of life. CF may affect up to 81% of patients after COVID-19. Prevalence of CF may be even greater among patients with severe forms of COVID-19. In the preliminary assessment authors found that 83% of COVID-19 inpatients had at least mild cognitive impairment. Moreover, SARS-CoV-2 infection is associated with higher incidence of depression and anxiety disorders. CF pathogenesis is not fully understood. There exist no strict diagnostic criteria for it, as well as no therapeutic recommendations. Health care systems of many countries, including Poland, lack therapeutic programs addressed at patients with CF. Tianeptine may be a drug with potentially beneficial effects in CF. Neuroprotective, antidepressive, sleep-improving and anxiolytic properties of tianeptine allow it to choose as a candidate for CF amelioration. There is also data supporting the thesis that patients with CF may benefit from short-term group therapy. It has been proven to improve quality of life, reduce stress, and improve cognitive function in non-MC cognitive disorders. Expected research results: A database will be created from the collected clinical, laboratory and additional data. Statistical models will be created to predict: the duration of disorders, response to therapy, the final result of treatment. Among the markers of CNS damage, those which correlates with the patient's condition will be selected. The study will allow to estimate the prevalence of CF in the population. PET-CT and auditory evoked potentials also will be used to expand knowledge in the field of CF. Based on the existing data, an improvement is expected in all investigated participants as a result of rehabilitation and psychotherapy. Additional improvement is expected in the tianeptine group. Improvement will be defined as: reduction in the severity of anxiety and depression disorders, reduction in the severity of cognitive disorders, improvement in the quality of life. The results will be used to develop a new diagnostic and therapeutic pathway and a comprehensive intervention program in CF.

Asthma

This is a study of amlitelimab for the treatment of participants with moderatetosevere asthma. The study will have a double-blind treatment period until Week 24 for each participant and an open-label treatment period where each participant will receive open-label amlitelimab from Week 24 onwards. The purpose of this study is to evaluate long-term safety, tolerability, and efficacy of amlitelimab for the treatment of adult participants with moderate-to-severe asthma who have previously been enrolled and completed the treatment period of the parent study. The study duration will be up to 156 weeks. The treatment duration will be up to 144 weeks. The number of visits will be 18.

Serratus Posterior Superior Interfascial Plane Block for Thoracoscopic Surgery

Regional techniques can be used for postoperative pain control following VATS. Ultrasound (US) guided serratus posterior superior block (SPSPB) is a new interfacial plane block defined by Tulgar et al in 2023. It is based on injection on the serratus posterior superior muscle at the level of the 2nd or 3rd rib. This block provides analgesia in conditions such as interscapular pain, chronic myofascial pain syndromes, scapulocostal syndrome, and shoulder pain. The SPS muscle is located at the C7-T2 level. It attaches to the lateral edges of the second and fifth ribs. It is innervated by the lower cervical and upper intercostal nerves. With the SPS block, these nerves are blocked and analgesia is provided.

The aim of the study will be to verify whether the addition of an exercise program aimed to improve balance can reduce the risk of falling in subjects with COPD over 80 years of age compared to the standard rehabilitation program. Patients will be randomly assigned in two groups (intervention and control). The pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) program is organized in accordance with current guidelines.
