Respiratory Weaning Following Cardiac Surgery.

Respiratory Insufficiency

Respiratory weaning failure worsens prognostic of patients following on-pump cardiac surgery. There are increasing evidences that pulmonary, diaphragmatic or cardiologic echographies are useful in order to improve this critical medical status. Based both on a previous study conducted in the critical care unit of Purpan and on literature we hypothesize that a combined thoracic echography score could be of interest. We make the hypothesis that the use of a score based on thoracic combined echography (ETC = cardiac, pulmonary and diaphragmatic) allows to predict the failure of respiratory weaning in cardiac surgery and allows to improve the characterization of the causes of this failure

Patient Function/Fitness and Psychosocial Health in Improving Health-Related Quality of Life in...

SmokingLung Neoplasms

This pilot trial studies patient function/fitness and psychosocial health in improving health-related quality of life and decreasing treatment-related toxicity in patients with stage I-IV non-small cell lung cancer. Studying function/fitness and psychosocial health may help doctors improve conventional therapy in patients with non-small cell lung cancer.

Hypercapnia and Its Association With Long-term Respiratory Morbidities in Premature Infants With...

Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia

This is a prospective, longitudinal observational study to provide data regarding the natural course of hypercapnia in premature infants with bronchopulmonary dysplasia using both available blood pCO2 and measured capnography, as well as relate the degree and trend of hypercapnia to later respiratory outcomes.

Study of Chronic Rhinosinusitis Symptoms in Asthma Patients Undergoing Treatment With Reslizumab...

Chronic Rhinosinusitis (Diagnosis)Asthma1 more

The primary objective of this research is to monitor chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) symptoms in asthma patients who are undergoing treatment with reslizumab. A secondary objective is to explore whether there are sub-populations that appear to benefit or not benefit from reslizumab in terms of their CRS symptoms.

Haemodynamic Abnormalities Recorded With Cardiac Catheterization Along With Body's Surface Micro-accelerometers...

Heart FailurePulmonary Hypertension

The ballistocardiography (BCG) and the seismocardiography (SCG) are old techniques recording the vibrations at the skin level generated by the acceleration and displacement of the blood and cardiac mass at each cardiac contraction. The former records the acceleration near the subject's center of mass, the latter at the local chest wall. So far, the unclear physiological origin of those acceleration signals has led to important ambiguities in their scientific and clinical interpretation. Therefore, several ongoing studies would aim to highlight the physiological genesis of those acceleration-induced signals. Indeed, the main objective of this study is to correlate the BCG and SCG signals recorded at the body surface with several haemodynamic parameters recorded invasively during a cardiac catheterisation, pulmonary pressure, wedge pressure, cardiac output to cite a few.

Comparison of the ID NOW and Accula Point-of-Care Assays for Detection of COVID-19

Covid-19

This study is a comparison of the ID Now COVID-19 (Abbott) assay to the Accula SARS-CoV-2 (Mesa Biotech) assay to assist in the identification of infection with COVID-19. The tests will be compared for sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value.
