Enhanced Platelet Inhibition in Critically Ill Patients With COVID-19
PneumoniaViral3 moreThis is a compassionate use, proof of concept, phase IIb, prospective, interventional, pilot study in which the investigators will evaluate the effects of compassionate-use treatment with IV tirofiban 25 mcg/kg, associated with acetylsalicylic acid IV, clopidogrel PO and fondaparinux 2.5 mg s/c, in patients affected by severe respiratory failure in Covid-19 associated pneumonia who underwent treatment with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP).
Mesenchymal Stromal Cells for the Treatment of SARS-CoV-2 Induced Acute Respiratory Failure (COVID-19...
Sars-CoV2Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome1 more***At this time, we are only enrolling at Houston Methodist Hospital (HMH)/Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) and are not shipping cells outside of BCM/HMH.*** This is a study for patients who have respiratory infection caused by SARS-CoV-2 that have not gotten better. Because there is no standard treatment for this infection, patients are being asked to volunteer for a gene transfer research study using mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). Stem cells are cells that do not yet have a specific function in the body. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are a type of stem cell that can be grown from bone marrow (the spongy tissue inside of bones). Stem cells can develop into other types of more mature (specific) cells, such as blood and muscle cells. The purpose of this study is to see if MSCs versus controls can help to treat respiratory infections caused by SARS-CoV-2.
Acalabrutinib Study With Best Supportive Care Versus Best Supportive Care in Subjects Hospitalized...
COVID-19CALAVI will investigate the safety, efficacy and pharmacokinetics of acalabrutinib together with Best Supportive Care in the treatment of COVID-19.
Dapagliflozin in Respiratory Failure in Patients With COVID-19
COVID-19This is an international, multicenter, parallel-group, randomized, double-blind, placebo controlled, study in hospitalized adult patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, India, Canada, and United Kingdom. The study is evaluating the effect of dapagliflozin 10 milligrams versus placebo, given once daily for 30 days in addition to background local standard of care therapy, on reducing complications and all-cause mortality, or improving clinical recovery.
A Study to Assess the Efficacy and Safety of Gimsilumab in Subjects With Lung Injury or Acute Respiratory...
COVID-19Study KIN-1901-2001 is a multi-center, adaptive, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study to assess the efficacy and safety of gimsilumab in subjects with lung injury or acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) secondary to COVID-19.
A Randomized Placebo-controlled Safety and Dose-finding Study for the Use of the IL-6 Inhibitor...
COVID-19In this study invetigators propose to administer clazakizumab to patients with life-threatening COVID-19 infection manifest by pulmonary failure and a clinical picture consistent with a cytokine storm syndrome. This is a double-blinded randomized multi-center trial designed as a phase II dose-finding three arm trial with seamless adaptive transition to a phase III efficacy trial. For phase II, patients were randomized 1:1:1 ratio to three study arms and received clazakizumab at a dose of 12.5 mg, 25 mg or placebo. Based on interim analysis, the low dose arm was dropped and the phase III portion of the study continued to enroll patients randomized 1:1 to high dose clazakizumab or placebo. Based on interim analysis, the remaining 10 subjects at NYU will be randomly assigned to a 1:1 ratio to two arms that will receive clazakizumab at a dose of 25 mg or placebo. The NYU site will serve as the central data management site for other centers who undertake this protocol. Other sites will enroll patients based on the two arm 1:1 randomization. 60 patients at outside sites are expected to enroll.
Camostat Mesylate in COVID-19 Outpatients
COVID-19The rationale of the present clinical trial is that an orally available drug given to outpatients that could reduce the viral burden in the upper respiratory tract could forestall complications of SARS-CoV-2 infection and reduce transmission from one infected individual to another.
Potential Efficacy of Convalescent Plasma to Treat Severe COVID-19 and Patients at High Risk of...
Convalescent Plasma for COVID 19Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has started to affect Saudi Arabia and is expected to cause a lot of morbidities and many patients, especially the elderly, will require intensive care unit (ICU) support to survive as its lethality increases with the increasing age. Development of a vaccine by pharmaceutical companies like Roche and antibody concentrates from convalescent patients' plasma by Takeda will take 10-12 months to complete, and we speculate that it will be overwhelmingly expensive and limited in supply. We are presenting this urgent proposal to use the convalescent plasma to save the lives of severely affected COVID-19 patients. Most of the logistic support is already available in MOH Saudi Arabia, and it will be a cheap and quick technique based on the time-tested principles of passive immunization which is supported by the most recent data from China. We are proposing to test the therapeutic potential of convalescent plasma (from patients who have fully recovered from COVID-19) in treating patients with serious COVID-19 disease or those who are at risk of developing a serious disease based on their comorbidities profile. Convalescent plasma could provide our first-line defense for people with Covid-19, especially those who are older and at a much higher risk for complications. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, with no available vaccine or proven antiviral drug, antibodies from recovering patients could provide a "stopgap" measure to help in controlling the pandemic effects on health and economy. We plan to recruit at least 40 consenting donors and patients. Non-consenting patients will serve as controls.
The Phase 2 Study to Evaluate the Safety and Efficacy of Clevudine in Patients With Moderate COVID-19...
COVID-19The purpose of this clinical trial is to assess the safety and efficacy of Clevudine 120 mg versus placebo once daily administration with standard of care therapy for 14 days (maximum up to 21 days) in patients with moderate COVID-19.
A Clinical Trial of Mycobacterium w in Critically Ill COVID 19 Patients
COVID-19The trial is randomized, blinded, two arms, active comparator controlled, clinical trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of Mycobacterium w in combination with standard care as per hospital practice versus standard care alone in critically ill adult patients suffering from COVID-19 infection.
