Stress Factors and Vaccine Attitudes Among Dental Students During COVID-19
Surveys and QuestionnairesBackground: The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the education of dental students in Turkey, the reasons that affect the psychological attitudes of students towards this disease, stress factors and the effect of these factors on vaccine acceptance. Methods: The survey was applied online and consisted of questions aimed to find out the demographic characteristics, educational status, anxiety-stress factors, and reasons for students' decision behind COVID-19 vaccine administration. The psychological impact of COVID-19 was assessed by means of the Generalised Anxiety Disorder-7 scale (GAD-7). Standard descriptive statistics, the chi-square test and independent samples t test were used for statistical analysis.
Impact of COVID-19 on Mental Health of OCD Patients and live-in Family Members
Obsessive-Compulsive DisorderThe impact of the current Covid-19 pandemic on mental health of people with preexisting psychiatric problems is enormous. This longitudinal study investigates the prevalence of mental health problems (obsessive compulsive, or depressive symptoms, anxiety, stress...) of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) patients and their live-in family members. We also aim to investigate the impact of the pandemic, isolation measures, exposure to media and changing therapeutic setting in OCD patients and their live-in family members through qualitative research.
Role of HLA Genes and Innate Immunity in the Phenotypic Variability of COVID-19
COVID-19Case-control, prospective retrospective association study of patients infected with SARS-CoV2 and cured by COVID19. Recruited patients were divided into two cohorts (cases: patients with respiratory failure that required hospitalization and ventilatory assistance. Controls: patients who had oligo-asymptomatic forms of COVID19). Patients' blood samples were collected on bibula paper, from which genomic DNA was extracted. Next-generation sequencing of HLA and innate immunity genes was performed on these samples. Genetic risk and protective variants were identified, based on the distribution of allele frequencies in the two cohorts. The aim of the study is to evaluate the role of genes of the HLA system and innate immunity in modulating the host response to SARS-CoV2 infection. The identification of these factors is essential from the perspective of public health (identifying individuals most in need of protection from infection as they are at higher risk of severe forms), basic research (characterization of molecular mechanisms of disease) and therapeutics (through knowledge of basic mechanisms, identify potential therapeutic targets and optimize the protective efficacy of vaccines).
Evaluation of the Acceptance of the Anti-COVID-19 Vaccine Offer Among Pregnant Women
Pregnant WomenCOVID 19 Vaccine1 moreThe SARS-CoV-2 pandemic still represents a global health, social and economic emergency. In Italy, since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 4,709,753 cases and 131,461 deaths have been recorded. The vaccination campaign against COVID-19, launched on 27 December 2020, has made it possible in Italy to achieve complete vaccination coverage (two doses) of 80.6% of the population aged > 12 years. The latest data on the impact of vaccination in preventing new infections, hospitalizations and deaths report a strong reduction in the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection in fully vaccinated people compared to unvaccinated people (78% for diagnosis, 92% for hospitalization, 95% for ICU admissions and 94% for deaths); most of the cases notified in the last 30 days in Italy have been diagnosed in unvaccinated people2. Evidence on the immunogenicity and safety of anti-SARS-CoV-2 vaccination in pregnant women, although not deriving from clinical trials, is growing, even if not yet conclusive. On the efficacy of mRNA vaccines in pregnancy, a retrospective Israeli cohort study reported a significantly lower risk of contracting SARS-CoV-2 infection compared to unvaccinated women. Furthermore, a greater maternal and perinatal morbidity from COVID-19, also associated with the circulation of the Delta variant, has been highlighted by the recent analyzes of the English data, updated to 11 July 2021. The Istituto Superiore di Sanità, in the light of the growing evidence on the safety of vaccination during pregnancy for both the fetus and the mother, the new evidence relating to the greater morbidity associated with the Delta variant, the growing circulation of the same variant and the significant lowering of median age at infection in Italy, recommends extending the vaccine offer, with mRNA vaccines, to all pregnant women in the second and third trimester. Objectives of the study: Evaluate the quality in terms of reception of the anti-COVID-19 vaccine offer, the knowledge and attitudes towards the aforementioned vaccination by pregnant women who join the Vaccination Open Day and who access the FPG Covid Vaccination Center for this vaccination. Primary endpoint: Measuring acceptance of the anti-COVID-19 vaccine offer and knowledge about vaccination, by means of a questionnaire to be administered after vaccination.
A Study to Understand is the COVID-19 Vaccine BNT162b2 is Safe in Indonesia People
COVID-19The purpose of this study is to characterize descriptively the BNT162b2 vaccination safety experience among the Indonesian people. We will look at adverse events (AEs) reported in Indonesia Vaccine Safety Website for people 12 years of age and older. AEs are unwanted reactions associated with the use of the BNT162b2 vaccine. They may or may not be caused by this vaccine. The secondary data collection will be exclusively from the Indonesia Vaccine Safety Website as requested by BPOM. This study does not seek additional participants. We will look at reported AEs for BNT162b2 vaccine since it became available in Indonesia. Individual data will be de-identified first before use. This will help protect personal information. We will study the AEs associated with the BNT162b2 vaccine in several ways. These include the type of AEs and which body parts affected, among others. This will help us understand it the vaccine is safe in Indonesian people.
Nadroparin Pharmacokinetics in Different Stages of COVID-19
ThrombosisNadroparin3 moreObjective: The risk of thrombotic complications in critical COVID-19 patients remains extremely high, and multicenter trials failed to prove the survival benefit of escalated doses of low molecular weight heparins (LMWH) in this group. The aim of this study was to develop a pharmacokinetic model of LMWH (nadroparin calcium) according to different stages of COVID-19 severity. Design: The investigators performed a prospective observational study. Patients: Blood samples were obtained from 43 COVID-19 patients that received nadroparin and were treated with conventional oxygen therapy, mechanical ventilation, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. Setting: The investigators recorded clinical, biochemical, and hemodynamic variables during 72 hours of treatment. The analyzed data comprised 782 serum nadroparin concentrations and 219 anti-factor Xa levels. The investigators conducted population nonlinear mixed-effects modeling (NONMEM) and performed Monte Carlo simulations of the probability of target attainment (PTA) for reaching 0.2-0.5 IU/ml anti-Xa levels in study groups. Interventions: None. Measurements and Main Results: The investigators successfully developed a one-compartment model to describe the population pharmacokinetics of nadroparin in different stages of COVID-19. Conclusions: Different nadroparin dosing is required for patients undergoing mechanical ventilation and ECMO to achieve the same targets as those for non-critically ill patients.
