COVID-19 on Placental Gene Expression and Pathology

COVID-19SARS-CoV-2 Infection

Little is known regarding the effect of antenatal COVID-19 on pregnancy outcomes. The purpose of this study is to determine of COVID-19 alters histopathology and gene expression of the placenta, as evidenced by analysis at time of delivery. The analysis will aim to identify whether resulting abnormal placental pathology or altered metabolism is associated with severity of symptoms (specifically pneumonia, or need for admission), gestational age at onset, and/or placenta efficiency. Histological and gene expression analysis of the placental post-delivery will determine if COVID-19 alters overall placental structure, vascularization, and/or the transcriptome.

PK and Safety of Remdesivir for Treatment of COVID-19 in Pregnant and Non-Pregnant Women in the...

COVID-19

IMPAACT 2032 was a Phase IV prospective, open label, non-randomized opportunistic study. The objectives of this study were to describe the pharmacokinetic (PK) properties and safety of remdesivir (RDV) administered intravenously as part of clinical care among hospitalized pregnant and non-pregnant women of childbearing potential with coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19). RDV was provided and managed by the participant's treating physician and was not provided as part of this study.

Impact of COVID-19 on Psoriasis Practice

PsoriasisCovid19

COVID-19 had a major impact on dermatology practice globally with special emphasis on chronic diseases e.g. psoriasis. The main objective of this work is to investigate the effect of COVID-19 pandemic on psoriasis management. This work is designed as a cross-sectional survey based on a questionnaire directed to Egyptian dermatologists.

Impact of the COVID-19 Epidemic on the Hospital Journey of Patients With Cancer of the Digestive...

Covid19Cancer

The hospital care of patients with cancerous pathology is part of a multidisciplinary care path that includes many stages. The treatment conditions in this course vary depending on the reasons that led to suspect the existence of a cancerous pathology: accidental discovery, screening, warning signs (sometimes expressed in an acute form) or referral for treatment in charge after the diagnosis has already been made. As soon as the patient presents to the hospital, various expertises are mobilized to establish the diagnosis, carry out the extension assessment and assess the comorbidities and conditions that may have an impact on the choice of treatments. During this initial evaluation, each file is evaluated in a Multidisciplinary Consultation Meeting to define the optimal therapeutic strategy which will often include several stages involving surgery, radiotherapy, medical oncology (chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, etc. hormone therapy), interventional radiology, and / or supportive oncological care (nutrition, pain treatment, correction of metabolic abnormalities, palliative care, etc.). This treatment path is considered to be very complex and the fluidity of its organization determines the processing times. The management of patients in a cancer department may vary depending on the organization specific to each hospital. The health crisis induced by the COVID-19 epidemic, associated with the containment measures put in place from March 19 to May 11, 2020, have limited the use of patients in hospitals, even for emergency activities. It has also led to a reorganization of scheduled activities within establishments, with a concentration of resources around unscheduled care, in particular COVID patients. In many establishments, the other activities were, for many, deprogrammed with postponed appointments. The impact of this epidemic on the hospital journey of patients with cancerous pathology is the subject of questions at the national level. The delays in diagnosis and treatment induced have possibly had an impact on the quality of the care and on the delays with, as a corollary, a possible loss of opportunity for the patient.

Efficacy of Mouthwash in Reducing Salivary Carriage of COVID-19

COVID-19

Researchers know that the virus that causes COVID-19 has been found in the saliva (spit) of individuals who exhibit signs of the disease. Investigators would like to test the ability of three mouthwashes to reduce the levels of this virus in participants' mouths. Investigators will ask participants to use a liquid to swish around in the mouth for 30 seconds and spit it into a collection cup. Investigators will also collect spit from participants before and after participants use the mouthwash. Although participants will have no direct benefits from the study, investigators will gain a wealth of information that would benefit patients who are at risk for COVID-19.

Understanding Reactions to Emotional Material in the Media During COVID-19

Healthy ParticipantsIntrusive Memories

This feasibility study aims to adapt a protocol usually run in the laboratory in the Psychology Department for healthy participants (including the trauma film paradigm (James et al., 2016) and a simple cognitive task intervention) to remote (online) delivery. The motivation for this was restrictions to running in person laboratory experiments during the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants will view film footage with COVID-19 related and potentially traumatic content (e.g. of seriously ill or dying patients in hospitals). Following film viewing, participants will be randomly allocated to either the experimental condition (simple cognitive task intervention, i.e. a memory cue followed by playing the computer game "Tetris" with mental rotation instructions) or the control condition (attention placebo, i.e., a memory cue followed by listening to a podcast for a similar duration). Any intrusive memories induced by the film (analogue trauma) will be monitored in a daily diary. It is predicted that the film (analogue trauma) will generate intrusive memories. If intrusive memories are generated, then it is predicted that participants in the experimental condition will report fewer intrusive memories related to the film (analogue trauma) during the following week than participants in the control condition. The development of this paradigm may inform the future development of a simple technique to prevent intrusive memories e.g. after repeated media consumption related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Feasibility and Analytic Performance of TestNPass (IVDMD) for CoViD-19 Diagnosis on Saliva Sample...

Covid19SARS-CoV-2

COVID19 pandemic and SARS-CoV-2 rapid progression worldwide are already historical landmarks of the 21st century owing to the magnitude of the event and the collective response that populations have adopted to face such threat. This menace has imposed an unprecedented reactivity to promptly deliver answers in various fields and specifically in termes of diagnostic capabilities. The very first tests to be used were based on PCR reactions and on deep nasopharyngeal sampling. But this has shown to be insufficient to prevent contaminations and limit the progression of the disease. This approach requires important infrastructure thus limiting the extent to which it can be delivered. Moreover, nasopharyngeal swab is highly intrusive and therefore is not suitable for repeated testing of asymptomatic patients in surveillance programs. Actual need is based on new tests offering new capabilities both in terms of wide range availability, ease of use and reduced time-to-result duration. Such tests, affordable and that can be performed outside the lab would ultimately relief pressure on healthcare workers and laboratory facilities as well as help test massively wide range of populations thus limiting viral dissemination Such innovating test device has been developped by the start-up "Grapheal" and the present study will ultimately demonstrate the feasibility of COVID-19 diagnostic using this test.
