This second feasibility study aims to adapt a protocol usually run in the laboratory in the Psychology Department for healthy participants (including the trauma film paradigm (James et al., 2016) and a simple cognitive task intervention) to remote (online) delivery. The motivation for this was restrictions to running in person laboratory experiments during the COVID-19 pandemic. Non-clinical participants will view film footage with COVID-19 related and potentially traumatic content (e.g. of seriously ill or dying patients in hospitals). Following film viewing, participants will be randomly allocated to either the experimental condition (simple cognitive task intervention, i.e. a memory cue followed by playing the computer game "Tetris" with mental rotation instructions) or the control condition (attention placebo, i.e., a memory cue followed by listening to a podcast for a similar duration). Any intrusive memories induced by the film (analogue trauma) will be monitored in a daily diary. It is predicted that the film (analogue trauma) will generate intrusive memories. If intrusive memories are generated, then it is predicted that participants in the experimental condition will report fewer intrusive memories related to the film (analogue trauma) during the following week than participants in the control condition. The development of this paradigm may inform the future development of a simple technique to prevent intrusive memories e.g. after repeated media consumption related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Immunogenicity of COVID-19 Vaccine on Heterologous Schedule

This is a prospective, single blinded randomized homologous/heterologous prime-boost vaccine clinical study, designed to assess the immunogenicity of heterologous prime-boost immunization with AZD1222 and MVC-COV1901 in adults. Participants will be healthy adults at the age of 20-70 years who have had their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, AZD1222. All eligible participants of 2 prime-boost interval strata (28 to 42, 56 to 70 days) will be 1:1 randomly assigned to receive a single dose of either: Homologous group: Intramuscular injection the same vaccine as their prime dose AZD1222 Heterologous group: Medigen COVID-19 vaccine MVC-COV1901. The treatment phase of this study will be conducted in a single-blind fashion such that the subject will not know the identity of the subjects' study treatment assignment. After receiving the treatment, the participants will remain on study for 168 days following the boost vaccination. For the study primary objective, immunogenicity will be assessed during the duration of the study, including serologic neutralizing antibody titer against SARS-CoV-2, serological quantification of binding antibody to SARS-CoV-2 antigen, SARS-CoV-2 antigen specific B cell and T cell frequencies and cytokine levels. And Safety will be assessed during the duration of the study as follows: Solicited adverse events (AEs; local and systemic) will be assessed for 7 days following each vaccination (Day 0 through Day 7 for the boost vaccination). Unsolicited AEs will be recorded for 28 days following the boost vaccination. Serious adverse events (SAEs) will be recorded from signing of the informed consent form through Day 168. Adverse events of special interest (AESIs) will be recorded from the boost vaccination through Day 168. This study is going to be conducted in a single medical center in Taiwan. An appropriate number of participants will be screened to achieve approximately 44 evaluable participants for each group. Participants in each group will be divided into two subgroups according to the intervals, 28-42 days and 56-70 days, between the prime and booster doses.

COVID-19 pandemic has presented the global health care systems with unprecedented and unexpected challenges. The clinical spectrum of COVID-19 disease varies from mild, at times asymptomatic, to severe life-threatening multiple organ dysfunction and shock. The latter group, albeit represent less than 10% of all SARS-CoV-2 infections will require ICU admission, multi-modal organ support including Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) for severe refractory cardiac and/or pulmonary failure. Prolonged mechanical ventilation is a typical indication for tracheostomy. Percutaneous tracheostomy at the bedside has several advantages over surgical tracheostomy. However, with the emerging pandemic, there is a lack of literature regarding the safety of percutaneous bedside tracheostomy for patients with COVID-19 supported by ECMO. Our study aims to describe the safety of bedside percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy of confirmed COVID-19 positive patients supported on ECMO.

Study on COVID-19 Vaccine Effectiveness Among Health Workers in Azerbaijan

Many critical questions remain about the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines in real-world settings. These questions can only be answered in post-introduction vaccine effectiveness studies. This protocol describes a prospective one-year cohort study of hospital-based HWs in Baku city of Azerbaijan to evaluate the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccine in preventing laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection and COVID-19 disease. HWs are the target population in this study because HWs have been prioritized to be the first group to receive the vaccine in Azerbaijan and offer an early opportunity to evaluate the vaccine in a population in which it is critical that an effective vaccine be deployed. HWs will be enrolled after the study protocol is approved by the local ethical review committee. All HWs eligible to be vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccine can be enrolled in the study, including those who intend to get vaccinated, those who don't plan on getting vaccinated, and those who are not sure. The target enrolment is 1500 HWs in six hospitals in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. At enrolment, study participants will complete a baseline enrolment e-survey about demographics, clinical comorbidities, and work- and community-related behaviours related to infection risk. In addition, a baseline serology will be collected from participants at enrolment. No PCR testing for COVID19 virus will be done at the time of enrollment. During the course of the study, participants will be actively followed for suspected symptomatic COVID-19 illness. Participants who meet a suspected case definition will be asked to have respiratory sample for SARS-CoV-2 by RT-PCR to be collected by trained HWs. PCR-positive samples from participants may also undergo genetic sequencing in or outside of Azerbaijan to identify the genetic makeup of the SARS-CoV-2 that caused the infection. Finally, at 6 months and 12 months of the study, serology will be collected from participants to confirm and quantify the immunity after vaccination as a secondary objective. Serology will be tested for antibodies to SARS-CoV-2. Serology samples will be stored and may be sent to laboratories outside of Azerbaijan for advanced serologic testing. Vaccine effectiveness should be analysed as described in the analysis section below. In addition to the final analysis at the end of the one-year period, interim quarterly (every three months) analyses will be undertaken.
