Convolutional Neural Network Model to Detect Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Pneumonia in Chest...

COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease 2019)COVID-19 Pneumonia

This study aims to design a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and apply an attention model to help differentiate pneumonia due to Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), pneumonia due to other viruses/bacteria, and normal chest x-ray (CXR) in clinical practice. A bank of digital chest images from a high-complexity health facility in Cali, Colombia, was used.

Staff Physical and Mental Health Assessment in the Aftermath of the First Peak of the Covid-19 Outbreak...

Occupational Stress

Objectives: This study compare the mental health impact and psychosocial perception of healthcare workers and non healthcare workers in hospital after the first peak of COVID-19 outbreak in France. Methods: The validated SATIN questionnaire with specific scoring was used to collect data on health and psychosocial factors. A self-administered online questionnaire was send to all workers of the hospital in June 2020. A multinomial regression model was created to assess differences and risk factors in outcomes between healthcare workers and non healthcare workers. Variables were adjusted for age, sexe, frontline workplaces and experience at hospital.

Defiances to Face COVID-19 Pandemic in Mexico

Health BehaviorRisk-Taking1 more

The aim of this study is to identify the risk factors favoring the contagion of COVID-19 by studying the quarantine behavior and preventive measures in the Mexican population. As a secondary aim, the investigators sought to identify areas that need reinforcement, to help develop strategies for a successful plan to face an upcoming pandemic.

DNA Damage in Critically Ill COVID-19 Patients

Covid19Organ Failure2 more

Critically ill patients with COVID-19 are exposed to high oxidative stress which is potential harm to the DNA. Peripheral lymphocytes' DNA will be investigated using the comet assay on changes in oxidative damage to the purine and pyrimidine bases and single-stranded DNA breaks.

Urine Alkalinisation in COVID-19

Covid19Acute Kidney Injury

Since the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), more than 100,000 patients have died in the United Kingdom. Acute kidney injury is common in critically ill patients with COVID-19. It is associated with a high risk of dying. At present, it is not clear how to prevent or treat kidney failure in these patients. Recent research has shown that the coronavirus can directly infect kidney issue. It uses a particular protein on the cell surface (the ACE2 receptor) for entry into cells. Entry into cells is easier if the blood is more acidic. The aim of this project is to find out whether urinary alkalisation using intravenous bicarbonate is feasible and can reduce the risk of acute kidney injury in critically ill patients with COVID-19.

COVID-19 in Osteoarthritis Patients

Osteoarthritis

While the coronavirus pandemic has spread rapidly around the world, it has generated a considerable degree of fear, concern and anxiety among the population in general and among certain groups in particular, such as older persons. Initial findings from studies in China indicated the presence of moderate to severe psychological impact in a significant proportion of individuals and an increased prevalence of post-traumatic stress symptoms. It should also be noted that other types of symptoms, such as anxiety and depression, appeared to persist over time and to a greater extent. Osteoarthritis can develop in any joint, but most often affects the knees, hands and hips. People with osteoarthritis are often older and sometimes more frail than the general population. The main recommendations for non-drug treatment of osteoarthritis include education, physical activity and structured exercise programmes with or without weight reduction. Due to the confinement associated with COVID-19, many patients have had to stop exercise/physical activity and postpone prosthetic surgery. Apart from the context of delay in surgery, there is little data available on the impact of the pandemic on people with arthritis. Several questions are therefore still pending concerning the impact of the pandemic on these patients. The investigators hypothesise that the following therapeutic modalities have been disrupted during this period: access to care, scheduling of prosthetic surgery, consumption of painkillers or NSAIDs, recourse to physical activities, recourse to physiotherapy sessions, weight changes, level of pain.... Our objective is to evaluate the physical, social, psychological and behavioural consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic in a cohort of osteoarthritis patients.
