This expanded access protocol will enroll subjects with a clinical diagnosis of COVID-19 confirmed by laboratory testing and who are in critical condition as indicated by life support measurements. Eligible subjects will receive open-label intravenous administration of investigational product (CAP-1002) containing 150 million allogeneic Cardiosphere-Derived Cells (CDCs). CAP-1002 administration will be conducted at the investigative site on Day 1 and weekly up to a maximum of 4 doses, based on clinical course. Subjects will complete protocol assessments at Screening; Day 1; Weeks 1-3; and Follow-up by phone 30 and 90 days after the last infusion. The Prone Position in Covid-19 Affected Patients

Sars-CoV2

COVID-19 in the Swedish ICU-cohort: Risk Factors of Critical Care Admission and Intensive Care Mortality...

COVID-19Critical Illness

The Corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic is currently involving all parts of the world. Several risk factors for critical illness and death from the disease have been proposed. However, the observed associations between different comorbidities and chronic medications have not fully been related to the frequencies of the same comorbidities and chronic medications in age- and sex-matched controls from the general population. This is important since some of the proposed risk factors are very common in the aged who, by age alone, are more prone to a more severe course of the disease. By combining several registries, we will compare, on several comorbidities such as hypertension and diabetes and several medications such as immunosuppressant drugs and Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE)-inhibitors, the first 2000 cases of COVID-19 patients receiving critical care in Sweden to a set 8000 age- and sex-matched controls.

COVID-19 Surveillance of Patients and Healthcare Workers in a Hospital Department

COVID-19

Doctors, nurses and staff members of ear-nose and throat (ENT) departments are at high risk due to aerosol-inducing diagnostic procedures and surgery during the COVID-19 epidemic. Reports from China, Spain, Italy and England report of fatal cases among ENT specialists. With a concurrent lack of personal protection, it is of paramount importance to identify patients and healthcare workers at an early stage to prevent a COVID-19 outbreak in the department. A baseline study of all healthcare workers has been performed. Follow-up will be accomplished by interval testing, antibody measurements and REDcap Covid-19 questionnaires. All patients at risk of carrying SARS-CoV-2, or who are candidates for high-risk airway surgery will be tested. Infection control measures at the department will be implemented progressively according to the real-time surveillance results from both patients and healthcare workers.
