Clinical Study Spartan COVID-19 V2 System (Canada Alternate)

Covid19

This multicentre prospective study will enroll a sufficient number of patients to afford approximately 30 positives and > 30 negatives (as determined by the SOC - Comparator method) in the United States and/or Canada. One to three sites in the Canada will participate over an approximate 6-week enrolment period. The actual enrolment period will be dependent upon prevalence of Covid-19, and site set up. Once positives sample size is achieved, expected SARC-CoV-2 negative subjects will be permitted. Once subjects are consented and recruited for the study, up to three (3) study-specific nasopharyngeal samples for each patient will be collected by trained operators at the clinical site: a single SOC swab, and two (2) Spartan swabs where the second swab is optional and used when the first Spartan swab test does not produce a positive or negative result ("inconclusive"). The first swab sample will be tested at the clinical site according to standard of care protocols currently in place for the sites' nasopharyngeal swab-based SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR testing. The second nasopharyngeal sample will be tested at the site using the Spartan COVID-19 v2 System. A third, optional nasopharyngeal sample, if collected, will be tested using the Spartan COVID-19 v2 System only when the test conducted with the second nasopharyngeal swab does not produce a positive or negative result.

RGD PET/CT Imaging in COVID-19 Patients

Covid19Endothelial Dysfunction1 more

Aim: We aim to evaluate αvβ3 integrin expression in proven COVID-19 infected patients with indicative findings on routine contrast-enhanced CT using [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-(RGD)2. If activated vascular endothelium in the lung parenchyma proceeds ARDS, as frequently observed during COVID-19 infection, imaging αvβ3 integrin expression using PET/CT could have potential as a clinical tool to characterize patients at early stages during disease and guide development of novel treatments targeting the vascular endothelium. Study design: This is a prospective, observational non-randomized pilot study. Maximum 10 patients will undergo a [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-(RGD)2 PET/CT scan and CT-subtraction scan in the same procedure. 10-minutes/bed position static [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-(RGD)2 PET/CT scans of the thorax will be acquired starting at 60 minutes post injection. Study population: Maximum 10 patients from the Infectious Diseases ward with proven COVID-19 infection and indicative pulmonary abnormalities on contrast-enhanced CT (CORADS 4-5) undergo PET/CT scans after injection of 70 μg (200 MBq) [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-(RGD)2 and CT-subtraction. Intervention: All patients will undergo a [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-(RGD)2 PET/CT scan, and in the same procedure, a CT-subtraction scan. Primary study objective: The primary objective of this study is to demonstrate and quantitate activation of the endothelium in the lung vasculature using [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-(RGD)2 PET/CT. Secondary study objectives: To assess the spatial correlation between [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-(RGD)2 uptake and abnormal findings on routine contrast-enhanced CT scan of the chest To assess the spatial correlation between [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-(RGD)2 and CTS of the lung parenchyma To assess the correlation between [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-(RGD)2 and laboratory results To explore the correlation between [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-(RGD)2 uptake and clinical course of disease

Study of Socio-demographic Factors, Behaviors and Practices Associated With Infection With SARS-CoV-2...

Covid19

The objective of the study is to identify socio-demographic factors, behaviors and practices associated with infection with SARS-CoV-2 to help determine where and how patients mostly get infected with SARS-CoV-2. It is a case-control study including : cases identified by the nationwide system of positive SARS-CoV-2 tests (COVID-19 diagnosis information system, SIDEP) (currently limited to qRT-PCR) and invited to participate by the National Health Insurance (CNAM) which hosts the data from the nationwide test system; controls included via Ipsos, a polling institute with access to personal data from a panel from which they will include controls matched on age (divided into 10-year categories), gender and geographic area (departement); cases will be offered to invite a person they live with to participate in the study offering another case-control analysis inside a household. These participants will be required to report the result of the test as recommended by contact tracing guidelines to determine whether they are cases or controls. Data will be collected via a self-administered online questionnaire. Some of the participants will be called for a complementary telephone questionnaire to measure reliability of online retrieved data and explore more specific aspects of SARS-CoV-2 transmission.

The Impact of Covid-19 Pandemic on Colorectal Cancer Prevention Due to Delays in Diagnosis: a Global...

Colorectal Cancer

Screening programs have been associated with a substantial reduction in colorectal cancer (CRC) mortality through endoscopic resection of preneoplastic lesions and detection of early-stage invasive cancers. In March 2020, the World Health Organization declared as a pandemic the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by SARS-CoV-2. Since then, the SARS-CoV-2 have never stopped spreading, causing an unprecedented situation with highly restrictive considerations to be adopted by the majority of countries worldwide. Health-care facilities have been making an enormous effort to assist patients affected by COVID-19, while adopting measures to maintain a safe environment for patients and healthcare professionals. As a result, the usual workflow in endoscopy departments changed dramatically, leading to an increase in cancelled procedures, probably increasing the future burden of Colorectal Cancer due to delays in diagnosis.

Post-traumatic Stress, Signs of Depression and Burnout Syndrome Among Nursing Home Staff in Occitanie...

Covid19Post Traumatic Stress Disorder3 more

Nursing home staff face multiple stresses during the Covid-19 pandemic including personal risk of infection, risk of transmission of the virus to residents and relatives, and risk of witnessing end-of-life scenarios under difficult contexts (absence of families). The hypothesis of this study is that the Covid-19 period is associated with an incidence of more than 30% of post-traumatic stress in nursing home staff.

Lung Ultrasound Findings in Patients With COVID-19 in a UK ED

Covid19Coronavirus2 more

The investigators aim to carry out a retrospective observational study, analysing lung ultrasound images from patients who have presented to A&E for routine diagnostic purposes (ruling out cardiogenic pulmonary oedema, Pulmonary embolism and pericardial effusions) and systematically assessing for abnormalities typical for COVID-19 infection (Pleural irregularities, B lines, consolidations, pleural effusions). Doing this, the investigators will also develop a suggestion for a standardised technique for lung ultrasound which can be transferred to other clinical settings (Intensive Care, Acute medical Unit) and could form the basis for an international standard. Thirdly, the investigators aim to correlate our findings to clinical severity judged by oxygenation status on arrival in ED. To the investigators' knowledge, this is the first study of this kind.

Long Term Outcome in ICU Treated COVID-19: Risk Factors for 1-year Mortality

Covid19

Mortality within one year after intensive care unit (ICU) admission with Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) will be assessed. Risk and risk factors for one year mortality in ICU patients will be compared to patients admitted to hospital with COVID-19 and general population controls. The ICU population comprises all Swedish ICU patients with COVID-19 with at lease one year of follow up. The hospital admitted cohort comprises four hospital admitted patients with COVID-19 per ICU patient, matched on age, legal gender and region. The general population controls are matched to the ICU patients in a one to four fashion on age, legal gender and region. ICU patients are identified in the Swedish intensive care registry. The hospital admitted patients are identified in the national patient registry and the population controls are identified in the population registry. Data on socioeconomics and income are provided by the Statistics Sweden. Data on comorbidity, medications and death are provided from the National board of health and welfare.
