Acceptance of Telemedicine During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Covid-19

Currently, due to the effects of COVID-19 pandemic, there is an imperative need to change the healthcare model. In this regard, telemedicine has proved very useful in health crises, in which there is a possibility of infection between people, offering remote access to medical care. Telemedicine has been used in many chronic diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes mellitus, and appears to be well accepted by patients. However, few studies have been conducted in surgical services and in other diseases. Therefore, the aim of this study is to assess the level of acceptance of the patients, in this pandemic situation, to a telemedicine follow-up in different departments. This is an observational, cross-sectional, multicenter and international study with prospective and retrospective data collection. To evaluate patients' acceptance, we used the validated questionnaire Telehealth usability questionnaire (TUQ). In addition, all patients will provide an overall satisfaction score for telemedicine on a scale from 1 to 5 (1=lowest; 5=highest satisfaction).

Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System Inhibitors, Hypertension, and COVID-19

COVID-19

Background. Angiotensing converting enzyme type 2 (ACE2), a key enzyme of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), is the receptor of SARS-CoV-2 for cell entry into lungs. Because ACE2 may be modulated by RAAS inhibitors, such as angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEi) and angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs), there is concern that patients treated with ACEi and ARBs may be at higher risk for COVID-19 infection and severity. Aim. To analyze the associations between COVID-19 and hypertension, and treatments with ACEi and ARBs. Methods. In this retrospective observational study, consecutive patients hospitalized for suspected COVID-19 pneumonia will be divided into 2 groups, whether or not COVID-19 is confirmed. The two groups will be compared for baseline characteristics, mainly prior treatment with ACEi and ARBs, and clinical outcome at 1-month follow-up. The main hypothesis is that ACEi and ARBs, which interact differently with ACE2, may have different relationships with COVID-19 infection or severity.

Quality of Life and Physical Performance After Novel Coronavirus Infection (COVID-19);

Covid-19 (New Coronavirus) Infection

This study aims to observe the long-term health-related quality of life (HRQOL) and physical performance in individuals hospitalized due to a COVID-19 infection. Therefore, data is extracted from a study-site standard aftercare program which has been adjusted for this patient population. This comprehensive aftercare program includes education sessions and physical exercise. A second aim is to observe adherence and feasibility to the program and if indicated compare the clinical data and outcomes from patients following the program with patients denying to participate in guided exercise and education sessions. It is expected that patients hospitalized due to COVID-19 infection show a reduction in physical performance and HRQOL directly after discharge. The severity of illness is hypothesized to be associated with a reduction as well in HRQOL and physical performance after one-year post-discharge.

Corona Virus InfectionPsychiatric Disorder1 more

The aim of this study is to measure current affective symptoms and psychological distress in individuals with severe mental illness during the COVID-19 pandemic using an online questionnaire survey. In addition, this study aims at identifying individual beliefs, sleep quality, attitudes concerning the virus, the adherence to the measures, believing processes, and coping strategies/resilience patterns referring to COVID-19 in different study centers.

Cohort of Patients Infected With SARS-CoV2 (COVID-19) or Suspected of Being

COVID-19

On 17th March 2020, 198 193 confirmed cases (7 730 in France) of COVID-19 infections and 7 854 deaths (175 in France) have been reported from 8th December 2019 in 157 countries. The rapid increase in cases on french territory has led to the transition of France to level 3 of the epidemic on 14th March 2020. The natural history of the disease is still poorly understood, especially prognostic factors, which are crucial for the best medical care of patients in times of epidemics, when hospital capacities are under pressure. A better knowledge of natural history, of prognostic factors, the development and validation of new diagnostic tests, the evaluation of medical care, will lead to a better medical care of patients infected with COVID-19.

Cytokine and Eicosanoid Mediators in Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

COVID-19

This study is a prospective, single center, observational, cohort study of patients to (1) describe the kinetics and temporal relationship of changes in eicosanoid and cytokine mediators in patients with severe COVID-19 admitted to the hospital; and (2) correlate the dynamic changes in eicosanoid mediators with available patient clinical status, including measures of severity of illness, routine laboratory tests, and outcomes.

Rehabilitation Needs and Functional Recovery in Covid-19 Acute and Post-acute Care

COVID-19

The purpose of the study is to apply a prospective observational design to describe the emerging functional impairments of subjects affected by COVID-19 in the acute phase and monitor their course and impact on activities and participation up to 12 months of onset. The ultimate goal is to provide a reliable framework to plan rehabilitation delivery to COVID-19 survivors in each phase and foresee health needs in the medium and long term. The secondary objective of the study is to find predictors of functional recovery, among pre-existing and emerging individual and contextual factors, with a special focus on the latency of rehabilitation start after hospital admission.

Sensitivity Evaluation of Serological Tests for Covid-19

Covid19

The primary objective of this study is to test the diagnostic sensitivity of antibody tests for the diagnosis of SARS-CoV2 infection, available to clinical laboratories, within a national network of hospitals carrying out research activities. Test the diagnostic specificity of antibody tests for the diagnosis of SARS-CoV2 infection. Complete a systematic evaluation of the different approaches. Perform Health technology Assessment (HITA) of the methodologies under study, in order to verify their reliability to the immunoglobulin levels produced by each individual exposed patient.

Evolution of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Patients in Extremadura

Coronavirus Disease 2019

At the end of January 2020, the international community was informed of the presence of a new viral disease that started in Wuhan (China) and spread rapidly throughout the world. The identified virus belonged to the coronavirus family (SARS-CoV-2) and the disease was named COVID-19. Today there are more than 2 million people diagnosed in Spain and more than 40 thousand in Extremadura. The partial knowledge about the development, evolution of the affected citizenship and their prognosis both early and late makes it necessary to analyze in depth their global and particular characteristics. We will carry out a multicenter, observational, descriptive, cross-sectional and longitudinal study of patients diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 virus infection in the Community of Extremadura to determine the effectiveness of drug treatments and the clinical and evolutionary characteristics of these patients and the different factors that may influence its evolution.
