Early Identification of Myocardial Impairment in PBC
Primary Biliary CholangitisCardiovascular AbnormalitiesPrimary biliary cholangitis (PBC) is a chronic inflammatory liver disease leading to cirrhosis. Researches reported patients with PBC may involve abnormalities on skeleton, thyroid and exocrine glands. However, whether this autoimmune disease would cause cardiac impairment is scarcely investigated. Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance(CMR) is recently developed as a reliable modality to evaluate the cardiac tissue characteristics and functions. This study aims to investigate the cardiac status in PBC patients based on CMR.
Characteristics, Treatment, and Economic Burden of Patients With CVD,CKD or at High Cardiovascular...
Cardiovascular AbnormalitiesChronic Kidney Diseases1 moreThe heavy disease burden is mainly due to diabetic complications. Diabetes is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD) and chronic kidney disease (CKD).China has been the largest absolute disease burden of diabetes in the world recently1. Diabetic patients with established CVD or CKD are bringing growing pressure upon our nation's healthcare expenditure1. However, the characteristic profile of Chinese diabetic patients who has CVD, CKD or at high risk of CVD remains unclear thus is in urgent need for in-depth investigation. In current China, however, the information regarding diabetes or non-diabetes patients who also had other comorbid conditions (e.g. established CV diseases, CKD or at high risk for such problem), is limited; the patient characteristics, treatment patterns and economic burden may not be fully understood. Therefore, based on TianJin regional database, the investigators will describe the demographic, clinical characteristics, treatment, and economic burden of disease of Chinese diabetic/non-diabetic patients with/without established CV disease, CKD, or at high CV risk including hypertension and hyperlipidaemia. And the investigators believe that the resulting findings will inform a comprehensive group of evidence users to achieve better healthcare for diabetes patients with established or at high risk of CVD or CKD.
Drug-induced Repolarization ECG Changes
Long QT SyndromeADHD24 moreStudies have shown that the risk of developing heart arrhythmias, is increased in patients receiving medication for Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and depression. The QT-interval on a electrocardiogram (ECG) is often used to assess the patients risk of developing heart arrhythmias. The QT-interval defines the hearts electrical resting period and a long interval is linked to an increased risk of developing heart arrhythmias. In this project the investigators wish to examine possible side-effects in patients receiving medication for ADHD and depression and their dynamic QT-interval changes, by analysing the ECG changes that occur during "Brisk Standing".
Electrocardiographic Autonomic Function Measures in Mechanically Ventilated Patients
Disorders of the Autonomic Nervous SystemCardiovascular Abnormalities1 moreThis research proposal has two main objectives. The first is to increase understanding of the underlying physiological interactions that occur between the cardiovascular, pulmonary, and ANS during transition between positive pressure mechanical ventilation (MV) and spontaneous breathing. The second is to determine if heart rate variability, (HRV) a reflection of autonomic nervous system (ANS) activity, and autonomic information flow (AIF), a set of nonlinear measures derived from HRV, both measured in the intensive care unit (ICU) can predict patient outcomes including successful weaning and in-hospital recovery time after an episode of cardiopulmonary compromise requiring MV. Hypothesis 1. Transitions between mechanically supported ventilation and spontaneous breathing will disturb cardiovascular synchrony, altering the relationship of HRV, AIF, respiratory rate, and blood pressure; Hypothesis 2. More normal HRV and AIF values, measured during baseline MV and sedation awakening (a period immediately prior to SBT when sedative medications are discontinued) will be associated with easier weaning, and shorter intensive care unit (ICU) and hospital lengths of stay; more abnormal measurements will be associated with longer lengths of stay; Hypothesis 3. AIF is a more sensitive predictor of successful weaning from MV than HRV.
Renal Function in Adults With Congenital Heart Disease.
Cardiovascular AbnormalitiesKidney FailureImpaired kidney function is associated with a poor outcome in patients with heart failure but it is not known of this is the case for patients who have been born with their heart condition (congenital heart disease). This study aims to investigate how frequently patients with congenital heart disease have kidney disease and whither this does have an impact on their outcome. The hypothesis is that kidney dysfunction will be common in these patients and may have an impact on long-term health and life-expectancy.
Characterization of Slow Coronary Flow
Cardiovascular AbnormalitiesVascular DiseasesDescription of the phenomena "Slow Coronary Flow" (SCF), according to the data that has been collected from patients hospitalized with specific criteria. Clinical follow-up of these patients to determine whether they suffered from any cardial or psychological disorders that might be a result of SCF.
Cardiovascular Response in Implant Surgery
Dental AnxietyCardiovascular AbnormalitiesThe aim of this study was to observe the level of anxiety and its relationship with cardiovascular changes in each implant.
