Prevalence of Colon Cancer in Pyogenic Liver Abscess
Cryptogenic Pyogenic Liver AbscessAlthough a proportion of pyogenic liver abscess may originated from colonic mucosal lesions, the prevalence of colonic neoplasm in the patients with pyogenic liver abscess are still not evaluated yet. Thus, our group will find the prevalence of colonic neoplasm in the group of cryptogenic pyogenic liver abscess by colonoscopic examination.
Microbiology of Para- og Retropharyngeal Abscess
Retropharyngeal AbscessThe aims of the study are: Explore the bacteriology of para- and retropharyngeal abscess. Validate the bacterial findings by exploring antibody development against F. necrophorum, F. nucleatum and S. pyogenes. Compare bacteriologic findings in concomitant peritonsillar and parapharyngeal abscesses. Characterize patients with para- and retropharyngeal abscess. Compare the concentration of amylase in para- and retropharyngeal abscesses and neck abscesses without relation to the pharynx or salivary glands. Perform gene-sequencing of F. Necrophorum strains, and compare these with strains recovered from patients with acute tonsillitis, peritonsillar abscess, and Lemierre´s syndrome.

Toenail Fungal InfectionCellulitis3 moreThe purpose of this study is to evaluate the level of relief perceived by patients using medicated footbath/footwash with or without an oral medication for the treatment of podiatry issues.
Puncture Breast Abscess
Breast AbscessSeveral breast diseases can complicate breastfeeding : 4% of women develop a mastitis and 1% develop an abscess. The study deals with cases of breast abscess that have been treated according to a defined protocol (Parisian Perinatal Health Network), by a multidisciplinary team (center of Medical Imaging Duroc) trained in breastfeeding and ultrasound-guided punctures. The aim of the study is to define the risk factors for the onset of a breast abscess, to evaluate the indications and methods of management of abscess by ultrasound puncture, and to provide arguments motivating the continuation of breastfeeding.
Risk Factors and Outcomes of Pyogenic Liver Abscess in Adult Liver Recipients: A Match Case Control...
Liver Transplant AbscessObjective: the aim of this study is to identify risk factors associated with the development of pyogenic liver abscesses (PLA) in adult liver recipients (ALR) and to describe the experience of the Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires (HIBA) in the diagnosis and therapeutic management of these patients. Background: adult liver recipients differ from the general population with PLA as they exhibit: reconstructed biliary anatomy, recurrent hospitalizations, regular performance status and are subjected to immunosuppression. However, the scientific evidence regarding PLA developed in transplanted organs is still scarce and the management of this disease continues to be based on experience in non-transplanted patients. Methods: between 1996 and 2016, 879 adult patients underwent liver transplantation (LT) at our institution. Patients who developed PLA after LT (cases) and controls are matched according to the time from transplant to abscess in a 1 to 5 relation. The investigators performed a logistic regression model to establish PLA risk factors considering clusters for matched cases and controls. Independent risk factors will be identified using multivariate regression analysis.
