Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Functional Performance Outcome After ACL Repair With Internal Brace...

Anterior Cruciate Ligament Tear

The purpose of the study is a clinical evaluation with special regard to magnetic resonance imaging and functional performance at least one year after injury / surgery in all three groups (subjects who underwent InternalBrace surgery, subjects who underwent surgery with a semitendinosus graft and subjects who were treated conservatively).

Society for Pediatric Anesthesia Improvement Network- Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction...

Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injuries

The primary objective is to create a multicenter registry which captures information relating to the perioperative anesthesia course and management of children undergoing anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction and to examine practice patterns and incidence of complications. Data from any single institution involved in this registry will be used for local safety and quality improvement efforts. In addition data from each institution can be compared to the information from the entire group of institutions participating in the project, thus providing a measure for comparison with national practice. The aggregate multi-institutional data set will be used to develop quality benchmarks for national safety and quality improvement efforts and best practice recommendation. We believe that this registry can also demonstrate how web based data collection can be used to evaluate clinical anesthesia outcomes for surgeries with a low incidence of critical events but with significant variability in medical management.

Feasibility of Electro Auricular Acupuncture for Analgesia After ACL Surgery: The Feasibility of...

ACLACL Injury3 more

Acupuncture research in regards to PONV has been fairly well established, however, studies about perioperative pain control and acupuncture are a little more murky. In 2008, a meta analysis looked at randomized controlled studies and found that while acupuncture was shown to decrease pain, there were limitations including credible placebo or sham intervention, and thus, blinding. The main purpose of this feasibility trial is to determine whether or not adequate blinding is possible in the intraoperative setting with the patient sedated.

Influence of Proprioceptive Reweighting Ability on Lower-limb Biomechanics During Functional Tasks...

Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injuries

Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries are frequent in handball especially among young players. Recent investigations highlighted the implication of the central nervous system as a potential risk factor for ACL rupture. The ability to dynamically reweight proprioceptive signals according to postural conditions is crucial for balance control. The aim of this study is therefore to investigate the influence of proprioceptive reweighting on biomechanical determinants of ACL loads during functional tasks and unplanned side cutting manoeuvers.

Subjective Outcomes After ACL Reconstruction With BQT Autograft

ACL InjuryKnee Injuries

The purpose of the study is to compare short-term patient reported outcome measures (PROM) of Bone-Quadriceps-Tendon (BQT) autograft with Semitendinosus-Gracilis (STG) and Bone-Patellar-Tendon-Bone (BPTB) autografts following Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction (ACLR). The PROM used are Knee Injury and Osteoarthrithis Outcome Score (KOOS) and Tegner. Difference in change in KOOS, KOOS subscales and Tegner from preoperative baseline to one-year follow-up and absolute KOOS, KOOS subscales and Tegner at one-year follow-up were evaluated. All of which were BQT compared to STG and BPTB, respectively. The primary outcome is change in KOOS from preoperative baselinge to one-year follow-up. Other outcomes are secondary. The hypothesis was that patients receiving the BQT autograft show similar results in KOOS, KOOS subscales and Tegner as patients receiving STG or BPTB autografts.

Definition of Biomechanical Indices Measurable During Sport Movements for the Prevention of Primary...

Sport InjuryAnterior Cruciate Ligament Injury1 more

The aim of the study is to define a set of quantitative parameters related to articular biomechanics, which will be evaluated during some specific motor tasks. The goal is the prevention of primary and secondary anterior cruciate ligament injury in athletes. Specifically, the validation of a new comparative methodology of biomechanics analysis will be performed, based on inertial sensors and musculoskeletal models. This way, brief but exhaustive description of functional characteristics of athletes could be created and easily used in ambulatory environment.
