At present there are no recommendations regarding the possibility of discontinuing treatment in cases of recurrent acromegaly with good hormonal control. Discontinuation of treatment is therefore most often decided by the practitioner, on the basis of his experience and knowledge of the patient, the long-term course with somatostatin analogues being very little described. Thus, although hormonal control is achieved in a majority of cases under medical treatment, we do not know if it is possible to stop treatment and in this case how the pathology evolves. It would appear that approximately 40% of patients defined as very good responders to somatostatin analogues may gradually space their injections.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the treatment and natural history of pituitary disease. We have a longstanding interest in pituitary disease including acromegaly, central diabetes insipidus, and nonfunctioning pituitary adenoma. We will continue to follow patients and recruit new patients for treatment and follow-up. Blood and pituitary tumor tissue (when available through clinical care) will be saved for future analyses related to pituitary disease.

This is a human, prospective and retrospective, single-center study of patients who have undergone treatment for acromegaly in New York City since 1981. The project will characterize, among other factors, the treatment methods received by patients, who administered the treatments and the success of this therapy in terms of biochemical control.

This is a first in human study to determine the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of ONO-5788 in healthy adult volunteers. This study will be conducted in 4 parts: a single-ascending dose part, a multiple-ascending dose part, an elderly part and a proof of principle part.

The purpose of the protocol is evaluate the safety, the pharmacodynamics and the pharmacokinetic of repeated administration of BIM23B065 in subjects with acromegaly.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate hormone values and other markers of disease activity in a cohort of patients with acromegaly at the time of diagnosis and then prospectively after surgical or other treatment. This study is designed to determine blood levels of growth hormone and related hormones and cardiovascular risk markers as well as signs and symptoms of the disease at diagnosis and how these parameters change over time after surgical or other therapy. The investigators will also obtain hormonal data in a group of 50 healthy subjects who will each be studied just once with an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). These data will provide a comparison group to the acromegaly subjects.

Evaluate the efficacy, safety and tolerability of the octreotide implant in patients with acromegaly that were previously treated with octreotide depot.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of octreotide acetate to decrease GH and IGF-I levels in acromegalic patients, with microadenomas (≤ 10 mm) or macroadenomas (> 10 mm).
