Erector Spinae Plane Block Catheters and Intrathecal Morphine for Hepatic Resection

Hepatic ResectionAcute Pain3 more

To determine whether the addition of erector spinae plane (ESP) catheters to existing multimodal analgesic regimen with intrathecal morphine provides superior postoperative analgesia in patients undergoing hepatic resection compared with patients not receiving ESP catheters.

Comparison Between Percutaneous Femoral Nerve Neuromodulation Associated With Femoral Nerve Block...

Acute Pain

The goal of this clinical trial is to compare the maximum isometric contraction force differential of the quadriceps in the postoperative period after the use of a peripheral nerve neuromodulation program in patients undergoing knee arthroplasty. The main questions it aims to answer are if the combination of a peripheral neuromodulation program in the perioperative period improves analgesic quality and short-term functional recovery in patients undergoing knee arthroplasty, Participants will be asked to reach a maximum knee extension prior to neurostimulation Patients will have the electrodes inserted under direct ultrasound vision and placed near the femoral nerve. Researchers will compare whether there is a difference in both quadriceps contraction force and analgesia between the stimulated group and the control group.

Intravenous Acetaminophen and Morphine Versus Intravenous Morphine Alone for Acute Pain in the Emergency...

Pain Management

In emergency medicine, acute pain is a common reason for consultation. It is recommended that patients in moderate to severe pain should receive a combination of intravenous acetaminophen and morphine. However, the data are sparse to support this strategy. Thus, the purpose of our research is to test non-inferiority of IV morphine alone versus IV acetaminophen and morphine in a multicenter, randomized, controlled double blind trial in ED patients with moderate to severe acute pain.

Evaluating the Impact of Focused Muscle Contraction Therapy in U.S. Veterans

Chronic PainAcute Pain2 more

This research study is being done to investigate if the GH Method exercise program positively affects body composition, improves physical abilities and can improve the overall sense of wellbeing (e.g. depression, PTSD, etc.) in U.S. Veterans. Subjects will be asked to complete 94 total visits (four (4) study testing visits and 90 exercise visits). Enrolled subjects will be tested for fitness, strength, and health risk factors at UIC 4 times and will complete 90 exercise training visits at the GH FITLab over the next 18 months. Subjects will also be asked to complete questionnaires about depression, post-traumatic stress symptoms and thoughts about harming oneself.

Effect of Aromatherapy Massage on Pain and Anxiety After Mastectomy

Acute PainAnxiety3 more

This study is an interventional type three-group randomized controlled non-drug clinical trial aimed at targeting the acute pain content and anxiety level of aromatherapy arm treatment with a sesame oil and sesame lavender oil mixture performed with Simple Mastectomy (BM) / Modified Radical Mastectomy (MRM). It constitutes a total of 66 patients with the power to represent the universe. However, considering the losses that may occur during the study process, it was decided that it would be appropriate to include 90 patients, 36% more than the sample. Individuals receiving arm massage with sesame oil (Group I), individuals performing arm massage with sesame-lavender oil mixture (Group II), and individuals performing arm massage with paraffin oil (Group III) constitute the research groups. After obtaining the informed written consent of the participants who agreed to participate in the study, the randomization list created from the computer-based random numbers table will be used with the block randomization method to assign an equal number of people to all three groups. In the preoperative period, patients will be given an allergic sensitivity (patch) test of the oils to be used in the study to Groups 1 and 2, massage training will be given to all groups with the show-and-have method in the pre-operative period, a massage application brochure and video will be given, and information will be given on how to fill out the follow-up forms. H1: After Simple Mastectomy (BM)/Modified Radical Mastectomy (MRM), massage with sesame oil reduces the severity of acute arm pain compared to massage with paraffin oil.H2: After simple mastectomy (BM)/Modified Radical Mastectomy (MRM), massage with a sesame-lavender oil mixture reduces the severity of acute arm pain compared to massage with paraffin oil.H3: After Simple Mastectomy (BM)/Modified Radical Mastectomy (MRM), massage with sesame oil reduces anxiety levels compared to massage with paraffin oil.H4: After Simple Mastectomy (BM)/Modified Radical Mastectomy (MRM), massage with a sesame-lavender oil mixture reduces anxiety levels compared to massage with paraffin oil.H5: After Simple Mastectomy (BM)/Modified Radical Mastectomy (MRM), massage with a sesame-lavender oil mixture reduces the severity of acute arm pain compared to massage with sesame oil.H6: After Simple Mastectomy (BM)/Modified Radical Mastectomy (MRM), massage with a sesame-lavender oil mixture reduces anxiety levels compared to massage with sesame oil.

Ketorolac Intravenous Regional Analgesia in Lower Limb Surgeries

Postoperative PainAcute

Tourniquet, a compressing device, otherwise its use in intravenous regional anesthesia, is commonly used in particular orthopedic surgeries. From the previous documented effectiveness and safety of intravenous (IV) administration of ketorolac in the circulatory-isolated limb as a part of intravenous regional anesthesia; we hypothesized that in orthopedic surgeries done with tourniquet, intravenous (IV) administration of ketorolac after tourniquet inflation, will act as intravenous regional analgesia. So, it will prolong the postoperative analgesic duration as a primary outcome.

Randomized Trial of Narcotic vs Non-Narcotic Pain Modulation After Labrum Repair

Postoperative PainAcute3 more

The purpose of this study is to determine if patients age 15 to 30 years old being treated for shoulder labrum repair and SLAP lesions have significant differences in pain levels postoperatively when treated with a combination therapy of ibuprofen, and acetaminophen compared to oxycodone. Participants will be randomly placed into either the control arm and receive scripts for non-narcotic medications (Tylenol and Ibuprofen) and opioids, or the experimental arm of the study. receiving only a prescription for the non-narcotic medications. Every patient will receive a preoperative Exparel nerve block as is the standard of care for this procedure. Both groups will fill out a pain journal for 14 days following surgery and complete a pill count at the first postoperative visit to validate the amount of pain medication documented in the pain journal.

Comparison Erect Spine in Cardiac Surgery

Spine ErectorCardiac Surgery2 more

Open cardiac surgeries are characterized by the increased use of opioids and longer extubation times, being post-sternotomy pain one of the causes of greater patient discomfort, plexus blockages have been used more frequently given the good results of anatomical studies and case series that are just beginning to be published. however, there is not enough data to convince the scientific community of its advantages, continuing to carry out its performance due to lack of evidence. Dexamethasone also shows an excellent result blocking the inflammatory chain and it was evidenced that it prolongs the time of blockages when used perineurally in the plexus blockages. This study wants to show the improvement of pain in patients who undergo this type of surgery and also show the advantages of a longer blockage, which can reduce use of analgesic and opioids, as well as decrease the time of hospitalization This is a double-blinded, randomized, clinical trial designed to determine the efficacy of spine erector whit dexamethasone gives more duration of the blockage and less pain after cardiac surgery.
