Postoperative Pain After Ambulatory Arthroscopic Shoulder Surgery
Chronic Postoperative PainShoulder disorders are frequent, often associated with pain and occur in 7-34% of the general population and in 21% of the elderly population. Of particular interest is prediction of postoperative pain after outpatient arthroscopic shoulder surgery since the clinical experience is that surgery does not always provides pain relief and the interindividual variation in acute postoperative pain intensity is significant. In addition, a Swedish study has shown that shoulder operations are associated with longer convalescence than other orthopaedic outpatient surgeries.
Establishment and Validation of Early-warning Model of Perioperative Pain for the Elders
Postoperative PainPain Assessment2 moreThis study will collect perioperative pain-related data of elderly patients in multi-centers. Analyzing these collected data to find the high-risk factors of postoperative pain in elderly patients and to establish an early-warning model of perioperative pain in elderly patients, so as to improve the ability of assessing the risks of postoperative pain in elderly patients and providing an early warning.
Use of Analgesics and Pain Scores After Pediatric Adenotonsillectomy
PainPostoperative1 moreThe purpose of the study is to quantify the use of pain medications given to children aged 3 - 12 years as well as their pain level through pain scores after they have undergone a tonsillectomy or adenotonsillectomy surgery at Doernbecher Children's Hospital (DCH). We would like to learn more about the pain medications given and the pain scores of children post-surgery for the first 5 days following discharge from the hospital.

Prediction of Post-Cesarean Section Pain
Postoperative PainThe purpose of this study is to determine if dynamic psychophysical testing along with genetic screening will allow to identify pre-operatively women who will suffer severe acute pain post-operatively and the subset who may experience chronic pain following cesarean section.
