Changes in Gene Expression and Prognosis of Blood Immune Cells After Cardiopulmonary Bypass Surgery...

Acute Kidney Injury

The goal of this observational study is to learn about the changes in gene expression in blood immune cells in after cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass. The main question it aims to answer is: What specific gene expression changes predict kidney damage after cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass. Participants received conventional treatment.

Histopathological Analysis of Renal Biopsies With Dynamic Full-field Optical Coherence Tomography,...

Acute Kidney InjuryChronic Kidney Diseases2 more

Kidney biopsy play a key role for the investigation of either acute kidney injury or chronic kidney disease. Despite possible complications due to the invasive nature of the biopsy, such procedure is still essential in a number of clinical situations to improve the diagnosis specificity of kidney disease, better inform about its prognosis and guide the management of a future treatment. Pursuing the idea to improve both performance and rapidity associated with the histopathological analysis of kidney biopsy, with a possible recourse to artificial intelligence-based renal pathology, the present study intends to assess the impact of direct histopathological examination of kidney biopsy with dynamic full-field optical coherence tomography in routine practices for the diagnosis of either acute kidney injury or chronic kidney disease.

KIDney Injury in Times of COVID-19 (KIDCOV)

SARS-CoV InfectionCovid193 more

There is an unmet need to evaluate the impact of sub-clinical/mild COVID19 disease in the outpatient setting on prevalent and incident renal injury, as this data is currently unavailable. To capture the diversity of race/ethnic risk and COVID19 related municipal shelter-in-place guidance, the investigators will enroll COVID19-negative and COVID19-positive samples balanced by race/ethnicity from 3 different states, California, Michigan, and Illinois. Study endpoints will be assayed from urine samples mailed to the study team at 2, 6, and 12 months after their date of PCR test, with no requirement for these individuals to leave their homes to participate.

Predictive Nomogram for Postoperative Acute Kidney Injury in Older Patients Undergoing Noncardiac...

Postoperative Acute Kidney Injury

Postoperative acute kidney injury is associated increased risk of morbidity and mortality. Older patients are at high risk of developing postoperative acute kidney injury. However, the incidence and associations of postoperative acute kidney injury in older patients are not well understood. This study aims to develop and validate a predictive nomogram for postoperative acute kidney injury in older patients undergoing noncardiac surgery.

Impact of the Characteristics of Acute Renal Failure in Intensive Care on the Long-term Renal Prognosis:...

Acute Kidney InjuryTransient Acute Renal Failure1 more

The purpose of this study is to assess the impact of Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) characteristics on long-term renal prognosis in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients.

Molecular Prediction of Development, Progression or Complications of Kidney, Immune or Transplantation-related...

Acute Kidney InjuryChronic Kidney Diseases4 more

Managing patients with renal failure requires an understanding of the molecular mechanisms that lead to its occurrence (i.e. upstream of the disease), its worsening and its persistence (i.e. downstream), while also specifying the risk of worsening renal failure (risk stratification, intolerance to the treatment or complications (infectious, metabolic, cardiovascular, cancer…). Nephrogene 2.0 aims to study these different components of kidney, immune and solid organ transplantation (SOT)-related diseases.

Point-of-Care Echocardiography to Assess Impact of Dynamic Cardiac Function, Renal and Cardiac Biomarkers...

CirrhosisLiver4 more

Point-of-care echocardiography (POC-Echo) is used to determine left ventricular systolic and diastolic dysfunction (LVDD), inferior vena cava (IVC) dynamics and volume status in cirrhosis and Acute-on-chronic liver failure ACLF accurately. We will assess IVC dynamics, LV systolic function [LV ejection fraction (EF) & cardiac output (CO)], and diastolic dysfunction (E/e', e' and E/A ratio) and urinary biomarkers (cystatin C and NGAL) in patients with cirrhosis and Refractory Ascites.

The Performance of Renal Doppler Ultrasound in Predicting Outcome of Dialysis Weaning

Acute Kidney InjuryAcute Kidney Failure Stage 3

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a frequent problem in the intensive care unit (ICU) affecting more than 50 % of patients. AKI is associated with several adverse outcomes, including increased mortality and increased length of ICU- and hospital stay, in particular in patients requiring Renal Replacement Therapy (RRT). Choosing the optimal time for attempting liberation from RRT is still unclear. With this study, we will describe the ability of renal ultrasound in predicting the outcome of dialysis weaning.
