Sorafenib in Treating Patients With Kidney Cancer That Has Spread to the Brain
Kidney CancerMetastatic CancerThis phase II trial is studying how well sorafenib works in treating patients with kidney cancer that has spread to the brain. Sorafenib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the tumor.
Combination Therapy With 5-Fluorouracil, Interferon-an Interleukin-2, & Thalidomide for Metastatic,...
KidneyCancerThe purpose of this study is to evaluate a therapy combining the established FUNIL regimen with Thalidomide. We want to see how well the therapy works, if it can be easily done, and how well the body handles the treatment. We also wish to see if the addition of Thalidomide will increase the effectiveness of the already established treatment regimen.
[18]F-FAZA PET Imaging Study in Patients With Cancer of the Head & Neck, Lung, Renal Cell, Brain,...
Renal Cell CarcinomaNeuroendocrine TumoursPositron Emission Tomography (PET) is a Nuclear Medicine procedure that uses positron emitting radiolabeled tracer molecules to visualize biological activity. The presence of hypoxia (low oxygen) is associated with poor prognosis in a variety of tumour types and treatment strategies targeting hypoxic cells have been developed. The PET tracer [18]F-FAZA can identify hypoxic areas, and changes in uptake during treatment may predict tumour response.
Safety and Efficacy Study of GC1008 to Treat Renal Cell Carcinoma or Malignant Melanoma
CarcinomaRenal Cell1 moreThe purpose of this study is to determine the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of GC1008, a human anti-transforming growth factor-beta (TGFβ) monoclonal antibody in previously treated patients with locally advanced or metastatic renal cell carcinoma or malignant melanoma.
Mycophenolate Mofetil and Cyclosporine in Reducing Graft-Versus-Host Disease in Patients With Hematologic...
Accelerated Phase Chronic Myelogenous LeukemiaAdult Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in Remission134 moreThis phase I/II trial studies whether stopping cyclosporine before mycophenolate mofetil is better at reducing the risk of life-threatening graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) than the previous approach where mycophenolate mofetil was stopped before cyclosporine. The other reason this study is being done because at the present time there are no curative therapies known outside of stem cell transplantation for these types of cancer. Because of age or underlying health status, patients may have a higher likelihood of experiencing harm from a conventional blood stem cell transplant. This study tests whether this new blood stem cell transplant method can be made safer by changing the order and length of time that immune suppressing drugs are given after transplant.
A Pivotal Study Of SU011248 In The Treatment Of Patients With Cytokine-Refractory Metastatic Renal...
CarcinomaRenal CellTo assess the safety and efficacy of SU011248 in patients with metastatic, refractory renal cell carcinoma
Safety/Efficacy Study of Oral Recombinant Human Lactoferrin in Renal Cell Carcinoma
CarcinomaRenal CellThe purpose of this study is to determine if orally-administered recombinant human lactoferrin is effective in the treatment of advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC) in patients who have failed at least one prior systemic therapy for RCC.
Sorafenib, Gemcitabine, and Capecitabine in Treating Patients With Unresectable and/or Metastatic...
Recurrent Renal Cell CarcinomaStage III Renal Cell Cancer AJCC v71 moreThis phase I/II trial is studying the side effects and best dose of sorafenib, gemcitabine, and capecitabine and to see how well they work in treating patients with unresectable and/or metastatic kidney cancer. Sorafenib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the tumor. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as gemcitabine and capecitabine, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving sorafenib together with gemcitabine and capecitabine may kill more tumor cells.
Sequential ATRA Then IL-2 for Modulation of Dendritic Cells and Treatment of Metastatic Renal Cell...
Kidney CancerRATIONALE: Tretinoin may help cells that are involved in the body's immune response to work better. Interleukin-2 may stimulate the white blood cells to kill kidney cancer cells. Giving tretinoin together with interleukin-2 may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying how well giving three different doses of tretinoin together with interleukin-2 works in treating patients with stage IV kidney cancer.
Lenalidomide in Treating Patients With Advanced or Unresectable Kidney Cancer
Kidney CancerRATIONALE: Biological therapy such as lenalidomide use different ways to stimulate the immune system and stop tumor cells from growing. It may also stop the growth of tumor cells by stopping blood flow to the tumor. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well lenalidomide works in treating patients with advanced or unresectable kidney cancer.
