Pressurized Intraperitoneal Aerosol Chemotherapy (PIPAC) in Gastric Carcinomatosis. Phase II Randomized...

Gastric AdenocarcinomaCancer Metastatic1 more

Peritoneal metastasis is a common pattern in advanced gastric cancer leading to a terminal condition in a very short time. Whatever recent progress regarding systemic chemotherapy using multi drugs association median survival is limited to 6 months with altered quality of life (QoL) after 4 months for all patients. We postulated that a new innovative health technology for delivering intraperitoneal pressurized aerosol of chemotherapy (Doxorubicin and Cisplatin) during laparoscopy can transform that situation offering to double the survival with QoL preservation. Interestingly, PIPAC procedure is made to be applied repeatedly, every 4 to 6 weeks. This therapeutic strategy allows to improved Intra Peritoneal (IP) drugs impregnation and maintained Intra-Veinous (IV) chemotherapy meanwhile. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate and compare 24-month progression free-survival in patients with peritoneal carcinomatosis of gastric cancer treated either with IV chemotherapy and Pressurized Intraperitoneal Aerosol Chemotherapy (PIPAC) or with IV chemotherapy alone, with preservation of quality of life.

Interest of PET-MRI in the Evaluation of the Response After Neoadjuvant Treatment of Locally Advanced...

Rectal Cancer

With 50 patients included, this trial would be the largest pilot study evaluating the value of MRI PET in locally advanced rectal cancer. On the other hand, it would be the only pilot study performing several MRI PET during neoadjuvant treatment. Presumably, the response assessed at the 2nd MRI PET (before cycle 4 or induction chemotherapy) would be predictive of the overall response at the end of neoadjuvant treatment. Then, it would be possible to predict precociously the tumor response.

Glypican-1 Expression in Epithelioid Mesothelioma, Adenocarcinoma and SCC of the Lung

Lung Cancer AdenocarcinomaLung Cancer Squamous Cell1 more

Lung carcinoma is the second most common cancer and a leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. In Egypt, lung carcinoma ranks the 5th among all cancer cases. Malignant mesothelioma is an aggressive neoplasm that arises from mesothelial cells which form the lining of the pleural. There is a strong resemblance between epithelioid mesothelioma and lung adenocarcinoma, some of peripheral lung adenocarcinoma or SCC present with pleurotropic growth like mesothelioma. Glypican-1 (GPC1) is one the six glypican family members. It is one of cell surface heparan sulfate proteoglycans that acts as a growth factor signaling. The aim of this study is to evaluate the immunohistochemical expression of Glypican-1 in pleural epitheloid mesothelioma, lung adenocarcinoma and lung SCC

Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma Gene Environment Risk Study

Pancreatic Cancer

After informed consent, participants will be asked to complete a medical/family history questionnaire and provide a blood sample. Some participants may also be asked to provide a urine sample. Individuals undergoing procedures that require collection of biological samples for clinical purposes may have these samples saved for research purposes. Participants will also be asked for their permission for study investigators to access medical records and/or recontact them for updates to their medical and family histories. Data and biospecimens will be stored for potential future research projects.

68Ga-RM2 PET/CT in Detecting Regional Nodal and Distant Metastases in Patients With Intermediate...

Stage II Prostate AdenocarcinomaStage III Prostate Adenocarcinoma1 more

This phase II trial studies how well gallium Ga 68-labeled gastrin-releasing peptide receptor (GRPR) antagonist BAY86-7548 (68Ga-RM2) positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) works in detecting regional nodal and distant metastases in patients with intermediate or high-risk prostate cancer. 68Ga-RM2 PET/CT scan may be able to see smaller tumors than the standard of care CT or magnetic resonance imaging scan.

Survival and Description of Care for Patients With Degenerate Vaterian Ampulloma

Ampullary Adenocarcinoma

A Vater's ampulloma is a rare digestive tumour which accounts for under 1% of all digestive tumours. The only curative treatment is complete excision (surgical or endoscopic) of the lesions which is possible in 80% of cases , with or without adjuvant treatment. The reference radical treatment is cephalic duodenopancreatectomy (CDP). The indication for adjuvant treatment is still debated: in view of the aggressive nature of the disease and the high recurrence rate, it would appear appropriate to offer adjuvant treatment, although several studies have failed to find any benefit on survival with post-operative radio-chemotherapy, the most widely studied treatment at present, compared to excision alone. At present there are no phase II studies specifically examining medical treatment of degenerated, inoperable Vater's ampullomas. Some groups propose chemotherapies with 5-FU or gemcitabine, analogous to the treatments used for intestinal, pancreatic or biliary tumours, although neither one has been shown to date to be superior to the other, nor have decision-making criteria been clearly established. In conclusion, a national cohort study is proposed to undertake a prospective analysis of the outcome of all patients treated for ampullary adenocarcinoma (particularly survival without recurrence and prognostic indicators for excised tumours and the duration of disease control for tumours treated with palliative chemotherapy). The treatment methods will be left to the free choice of the investigator and all patients may be included, regardless of stage of their disease. In this study, freezing of tumour fragments is encouraged, as this cohort will be supplemented by a later biological study. In order to recruit sufficient patient numbers, the study will be based on participation of the cooperative groups involved in the management of digestive cancers.
