Trial of Metformin for Colorectal Cancer Risk Reduction for History of Colorectal Adenomas and Elevated...

Adenomatous PolypColorectal Cancer1 more

The purpose of this study is to find out whether METFORMIN decreases protein markers in colorectal tissue. This is a phase IIA study of the pharmacodynamics, safety and tolerability of Metformin in decreasing colorectal mucosa in patients with a history of colorectal adenomas in the past 3 years and a BMI >= 30, with decimals rounded to the nearest whole integer. Metformin as a potential chemopreventive agent for inhibition of the relevant molecular pathways involved in human colorectal carcinogenesis.

Green Tea Extracts for the Prevention of Colorectal Adenomas and Colorectal Cancer

NeoplasmsColorectal

Experimental studies have shown the chemopreventive properties of green tea extract (GTE) on colorectal cancer. And colorectal adenomas are precursors to colorectal cancers. The aim of this study is to determine the preventive effect of GTE supplements on metachronous colorectal adenomas by giving GTE tablets of which are equivalent of 9 cup-of-green tea per day (0.9 g/day GTE, 0.6 g/day Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG).

Quadrant Versus Superficial Parotidectomy

Pleomorphic Adenoma of the Parotid Gland

The most common benign tumor of the parotid gland is the so called pleomorphic adenoma. Although benign, this tumor may recur after surgical removal due to tumor cells left behind during the surgical operation. Thus, pleomorphic adenomas have been treated with wide resection similar to malignant tumors. This extensive surgery often leads to injury to the motor nerves responsible for facial expression and eye protection. The investigators propose less extensive surgery which should be thorough enough to prevent tumor recurrence while keeping the facial nerve out of risk.

Polyp Prevention Trial

DietPolyps1 more

The primary objective of the Poly Prevention Trial (PPT) is to determine whether a low fat, high fiber, high vegetable and fruit eating plan will decrease the recurrence of adenomatous polyps of the large bowel. Secondary objectives of the PPT include 1) evaluating the effectiveness of the intervention program with respect to participant achievement of dietary goals; 2) examining the relation of dietary change and biochemical markers in blood; and 3) assessing the impact of the intervention on quality of life indicators.

Use of a Distal Colonoscope Attachment to Increase Detection of Sessile Serrated Adenomas

Sessile Serrated Adenoma

This study evaluates whether the use of a disposable colonoscope attachment, Endocuff Vision, can increase the detection of sessile serrated adenomas. Participating patients will be randomized to receive either standard colonoscopy or colonoscopy with the Endocuff Vision.

Colonic AdenomaColon Polyp2 more

To compare the incremental benefit of chromoendoscopy in addition to high definition white light and narrow band imaging in predicting submucosal invasion within laterally spreading lesions in the colon and in determining the presence of residual or recurrent adenoma at the post endoscopic resection scar

A Research of Berberine Hydrochloride to Prevent Colorectal Adenomas in Patients With Previous Colorectal...

Colorectal Adenomas

Experimental studies in animals and observational studies in humans suggest that fusobacterium nucleatum is associates with stages of colorectal neoplasia development, and Berberine Hydrochloride could rescue Fusobacterium nucleatum-induced colorectal tumorigenesis by modulating the tumor microenvironment. Whether regular Berberine Hydrochloride use may decrease the risk of colorectal adenomas, the precursors to most colorectal cancers is worth to further study.
