Questionnaire Study to Assess the Outcomes of the Management of Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia Individuals...

Adrenal HyperplasiaCongenital

This is a questionnaire study involving women and young girls affected by Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH) and their parents. The aim is to obtain information regarding the outcomes of conservative or surgical management of CAH at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital (RMCH) in the last 50 years, with specific reference to genital appearance and its impact on patient's social/physical/emotional/sexual outcomes. The study wants also investigate on the individuals and parental perspectives on the proposal to take away the option of early childhood surgery for girls with this condition.

China Adrenal Disease Registry

Cushing SyndromeAldosteronism6 more

Epidemiologic studies have revealed a tremendous increase in the prevalence of adrenal associated disease and related mortality worldwide. In order to meet all the therapeutic challenges in adrenal disease in China, CASE was founded in 2020. The objective of CASE is to launch an adrenal disease management model based on the Internet health information platform which allows the application and evaluation of adrenal disease treatment strategies at multiple centers. The proprietary electronic medical database will help the dynamic big-data analysis in epidemiology of adrenal disease, diagnosis, and treatment.

GROWing Up With Rare GENEtic Syndromes

Prader-Willi SyndromePWS-like Syndrome32 more

Introduction Rare complex syndromes Patients with complex genetic syndromes, by definition, have combined medical problems affecting multiple organ systems, and intellectual disability is often part of the syndrome. During childhood, patients with rare genetic syndromes receive multidisciplinary and specialized medical care; they usually receive medical care from 3-4 medical specialists. Increased life expectancy Although many genetic syndromes used to cause premature death, improvement of medical care has improved life expectancy. More and more patients are now reaching adult age, and the complexity of the syndrome persists into adulthood. However, until recently, multidisciplinary care was not available for adults with rare genetic syndromes. Ideally, active and well-coordinated health management is provided to prevent, detect, and treat comorbidities that are part of the syndrome. However, after transition from pediatric to adult medical care, patients and their parents often report fragmented poor quality care instead of adequate and integrated health management. Therefore, pediatricians express the urgent need for adequate, multidisciplinary adult follow up of their pediatric patients with rare genetic syndromes. Medical guidelines for adults not exist and the literature on health problems in these adults is scarce. Although there is a clear explanation for the absence of adult guidelines (i.e. the fact that in the past patients with rare genetic syndromes often died before reaching adult age), there is an urgent need for an overview of medical issues at adult age, for 'best practice' and, if possible, for medical guidelines. The aim of this study is to get an overview of medical needs of adults with rare genetic syndromes, including: comorbidities medical and their impact on quality of life medication use the need for adaption of medication dose according to each syndrome Methods and Results This is a retrospective file study. Analysis will be performed using SPSS version 23 and R version 3.6.0.

A Study to Determine Eligibility for CAH-301 (A Study of Gene Therapy for Classic Congenital Adrenal...

Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia

This pre-screening study is designed to determine potential eligibility of adults with classic CAH due to 21-hydroxylase deficiency (21-OHD) for participation in the CAH-301 [NCT04783181] gene therapy trial with BBP-631.

Surgical Treatment of Adrenal Diseases- Laparoscopic vs. Robotic-assisted Adrenalectomy

Adrenal TumorAdrenal Disease11 more

The goal of this multicenter, observational, analytic, randomized clinical trial is to analyze the laparoscopic and robot-assisted method in the surgical treatment of patients with adrenal diseases. The main question it aims to answer are: to find the superiority of one the the surgical method mentioned above to compare the quality of life in patients with adrenal mass before surgery and after laparoscopic or robotic-assisted adrenalectomy.

Nevanimibe HCl for the Treatment of Classic CAH

Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia

This is a multicenter, intra-subject dose-titration open-label study of nevanimibe hydrochloride (HCl) for the treatment of classic congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH). Following a Screening Period of approximately 2-14 weeks, eligible subjects will enter a Baseline Period of approximately 2-8 weeks and then a 16-week Treatment Period. It is anticipated that the overall duration of the study per subject will range from 24-42 weeks.

CAH - Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia

This is a Phase 2, open-label, multiple-dose, dose-escalation study to assess the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics (PK), and pharmacodynamics (PD) of NBI-74788 in approximately 12 pediatric female and male subjects (14 to 17 years of age) with a documented medical diagnosis of classic 21-hydroxylase deficiency congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH).

Comparison of Two Forms of Hydrocortisone in Patients With Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia

Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia21-Hydroxylase Deficiency1 more

This study will test a new, extended release form of hydrocortisone called Chronocort in patients with congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH). People with CAH do not make enough of the adrenal hormones cortisol and aldosterone, and their adrenal glands make too much of the sex hormone androgen. Medicines called glucocorticoids (hydrocortisone, dexamethasone and prednisone) are currently used to treat CAH, but finding the best dose of these drugs that effectively lowers androgens without causing undesirable side effects, such as weight gain and slow growth rate in children, is often difficult to achieve. Adolescents and adults with CAH due to 21-hydroxylase deficiency may be eligible for this study. Children 16 years of age and older are eligible with confirmation by bone age that they are no longer growing. Participants undergo the following tests and procedures during two inpatient visits one month apart at the NIH Clinical Center: Medical history and physical examination. Medications: Following 7 days of Cortef (standard drug treatment for CAH), patients begin taking Chronocort on day 3 of hospitalization and continue the tablets once a day for 1 month. Blood tests: A catheter (plastic tube) is inserted in a vein and left in place for frequent blood draws in order to avoid repeated needlesticks. Blood is drawn for chemistries, blood count, pregnancy test in women, and for serial tests (up to 26 samples in a 24-hour period) to measure hormone levels. 24-hour urine test. Height and weight measurements. Between the two hospitalizations, patients are contacted by NIH weekly to check for possible side effects from Chronocort. Two weeks after the first visit, patients also will have blood drawn by their regular doctor or a local clinic. A few days before the second hospitalization, patients undergo a 20-minute telephone questionnaire about energy level and well being. About 30 days after discharge from the second hospitalization, patients are followed up with a telephone call to see how they are doing.

Comparison of Chronocort® With Standard Glucocorticoid Therapy in Patients With Congenital Adrenal...

Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia

This study is a parallel arm, randomised, open-label study, including dose titration and admissions for four overnight stays for 24-hour endocrine profiles. It will compare the efficacy, safety and tolerability of Chronocort® with standard glucocorticoid replacement therapy in the treatment of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) over a treatment period of 6 months. Dose titration decisions in both treatment groups will be made by a central independent physician, blinded to the treatment arm, using information generated from the 24-hour endocrine profiles. Each treatment arm will be subject to the same titration rules throughout the study, ensuring that opportunities for optimisation and control of androgens are the same in both groups.
