Macular Degeneration

The objective of this survey is to evaluate effectiveness of EYLEA on Quality of Life (QOL). The QOL is evaluated by using Japanese version (v.1.4 - interviewer administered format) of National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire-25 (NEI VFQ-25) and compared at baseline and at the 6 and 12 months after start of EYLEA treatment.

Life Style and Food Habits Questionnaire in the Portuguese Population Aged 55 or More

Age Related Macular Degeneration

The study population will be selected from the "Epidemiological study on the prevalence of Age related Macular Degeneration in Portugal" (Protocol N. CC-01-2009) where retinal photographic grading (current gold standard for AMD assessment) was performed to confirm AMD diagnostic. This study provides a population-based sample in which precise and contemporary information on the frequency of nutritional and lifestyle risk factors will be collected, enabling to evaluate whether the separate and/or joint effects of these factors, if found significant, are likely to have a major public health impact in terms of AMD.

Grid Laser for Diffuse Diabetic Maculopathy

Diabetic Macular Edema

Diabetic related complications are increasing day by day due to increse in the number of diabetic patients all over the world. Diabetic macular edema is one of them and a major cause of vision imparment. Various kind of treatment modalities are preent to treat this coplication. Grid laser is one treatment modality. Laser phtocoagulation is a destrictive procedure.Laser power if kept to aminimum can get the desired results without severe destruction to the retina . In this study, the investigators are going to document the effect of minimal grid laser tn loss o overcome the visioe to diabetic macular edema.

Assay of Pro-angiogenic Cytokines in Exudative Age-Related Macular Degeneration

Age Related Macular Degeneration

Anti-VEGF intravitreal injections are the treatment of choice in age-related macular degeneration (AMD). However 37% of patients are unresponsive or poorly responsive to these therapies. It is still not possible to foresee the patient's response to anti-VEGF injections. A poor response may be related to an activation of alternative pro-angiogenic pathways with over expression of many other pro-angiogenic cytokines. The primary goal of this study is to measure the aqueous humor concentration of pro-angiogenic cytokines in AMD patients.
