Hostile Bias Modification Training Online Study II
AggressionAnger3 moreThe purpose of this study is to see how people respond on a word completion task relates to how they behave and respond to situations in the real world. This is a two part research study. At time-point one, participants will fill out some brief personality surveys. They will also read several short scenarios and imagine how they would react and/or interpret these situations in real life. They will also complete a vocabulary task where they will sort word fragments based on type as quickly as they are able. Participants will be asked to return in 24-96 hours for part two where they will repeat a similar scenario reading activity as during time one and fill out a brief questionnaire about your recent behaviors.
Functional MRI Study in Healthy Children Engaged in Aggressive Behaviors
Impulsive AggressionThe purpose of this non-interventional study is to optimize the point subtraction aggression paradigms (PSAP) task in typically developing children (TDC).
Apoptosis Markers in Aggressive Periodontitis
Molar-incisor Pattern Grade C Periodontitis ( Localized Aggressive Periodontitis)Generalized Grade C Periodontitis (Generalized Aggressive Periodontitis)The aim of the present trial is to assess the gingival crevicular fluid level of caspase-3 and apoptosis inducing factor (AIF) in Generalized versus Molar-incisor grade C periodontitis. The present study will be carried out on patients selected from those attending on the outpatient clinics of Department of Oral Medicine, Periodontology, Oral Diagnosis and Dental Radiology, Faculty of Dental Medicine, Al-Azhar University, Assiut.
Pediatric Aggression and Violence
Pediatric Aggression and ViolenceViolence and aggression on pediatric psychiatry units has led to staff and patient injuries and even deaths around the country. In an effort to improve safety, the investigators have developed a method (with the Brief Rating of Child and Adolescent Aggression) of identifying children and adolescents at a higher risk for aggression and violence on the units. In order to improve this prediction, the investigators plan to study salivary hormones in low risk children and high risk children. The salivary hormones to be studied include cortisol, testosterone, and dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS). The investigators expect to improve the investigators current ability to predict the severity and type of pediatric aggression and violence on the inpatient units by combining information from the Brief Rating of Child and Adolescent Aggression (BRACHA), the Predatory-Affective Aggression Scale (Vitiello et al., 1990), and salivary hormones.
Metagenomic and Immune-inflammatory Analysis of Individuals With Generalized Aggressive Periodontitis...
Generalized Aggressive PeriodontitisGeneralized aggressive periodontitis (GAgP) is a multifactorial disease related to several aspects that influence its installation and progression. A constant microbial colonization, an altered inflammatory response, and a clear genetic factor are cited as possible factors associated with this pathology. Thus, aggressive periodontitis subjects could transmit for their descendants some genetical alterations, such as inflammatory response pattern associated with periodontal destruction and susceptibility to colonization by some pathogens, increasing the risk of develops this disease. This way, this project is aimed to evaluate the pattern of microbiological colonization and the inflammatory response pattern associated with it, comparing parents with generalized aggressive periodontitis and their children and periodontally healthy parents and their children. Thirty families will be selected and divided into two groups: Test group (n=15 families) families in which the parents (or at least one of them) present generalized aggressive periodontitis and one child (age ranging from 6-12 years old); Control group (n=15 families) families in which the parents (both of them) present periodontal healthy and one child (age ranging from 6-12 years old). The groups will be composed using a gender- and age-matched structure. The children will participate in a hygiene program and will be monitored for 3 months. All individuals (parents and children) will be clinically assessed for plaque and bleeding index, periodontal probing depth, clinical attachment level and gingival recession. During this period, samples of gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) and subgingival biofilm from periodontal pockets/sites from all subject (parents and children) will be collected. The GCF will be analyzed and the detection of interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-4, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-17, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, and interferon (INF)-γ will be done using Luminex/MAGpix technology. In a subgingival biofilm, the DNA will be extracted and the microbiome and its functional characteristics will be evaluated by metagenomics and bioinformatics analysis. The data will be compared by Student's t-test, Mann-Whitney e Wilcoxon tests. The significance level for all analysis will be 5%.
Immunolocalization of 1,25,Dihydroxyvitamin D3 in Aggressive Periodontitis Patients
Aggressive PeriodontitisThe study was to intended to visualize the nuclear localization of vitamin D receptor in oral tissues of aggressive periodontitis patients to better understand the potential for receptor in disease activity or progression.
Smoking Influence on Apoptosis in Periodontitis
Chronic PeriodontitisAggressive PeriodontitisApoptosis is an evolutionary form of physiological cell death. Studies suggest that apoptosis is involved in the pathogenesis of periodontal diseases. Human gingival fibroblasts (HGF) have an important role in the periodontal immune response. It is believed that HGF can be diminished and/or eliminated by means of apoptosis. Smoking is one of the most common risk factor of periodontal disease. Studies indicated that smoking can increase the risk of periodontitis by enhancing the apoptosis of gingival fibroblast. The purpose of this study is to determine and to investigate apoptosis of HGF in gingival biopsies collected from smokers and non smokers who are diagnosed with chronic periodontitis or aggressive periodontitis. Eighty subjects will be invited to participate in this study. Patients will be allocated into four groups (20 patients each). Gingival biopsies will be obtained from the base of papillae during surgical treatment (open flap curettage) and will be examined by Immuno-histochemical analysis. Immune-staining will be done using p53 monoclonal mouse anti-human antibody.
Antisocial Behavior on Healthcare Professionals in an Emergency Unit.
Rudeness/IncivilityAggression or Violence Against Healthcare Workers in an Ophthalmic Emergencies Unit.At the hospital, the attacks against health professionals are becoming commonplace, making working conditions difficult. The ophthalmological emergencies are a perfect testing ground to evaluate the effectiveness of a series of original actions to prevent the occurrence of violence against healthcare workers. The main objective is to measure the impact of an integrated prevention of the occurrence of antisocial behavior or attacks against the healthcare workers. The prevention program combines five interventions (steps): 1) a computer sorting algorithm and specific screens for calling patients in waiting rooms, 2) a clear signage to direct patients between waiting rooms, treatment rooms and administrative et medical offices, 3) Posts information on the activity of emergency services displayed on screens, in the waiting rooms, 4) a mediator/go-between/conciliator, 5) and a dummy surveillance camera. This is an interrupted time series study. All patients admitted to the ophthalmological emergency unit of a university hospital located in Lyon, France, are included in the study, from June 2013 to Sept 2015
Gingival Crevicular Fluid Levels Of Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein-1
Aggressive PeriodontitisThe aim of this study is to estimate GCF MCP-1 levels of healthy and Aggressive periodontitis (AgP) subjects and to compare MCP-1 levels between Localized AgP (LAgP) and Generalized AgP (GAgP) to establish its predictive value/role for distinguishing LAgP and GAgP development.
