Validation and Reproducibility of S.P.A.T. With Allergens
Allergy to House DustAllergy PollenTo improve accuracy and take out human error opportunities, Hippo Dx developed S.P.A.T., an automated skin prick test. This study will provide a comparison between manual and automated skin prick test in allergic and non-allergic individuals with a panel of common inhalant allergens. The primary endpoint is to compare the accuracy of S.P.A.T. to detect sensitization to common aeroallergens compared to a manual skin prick test (SPT). It is a prospective monocentric study that will include 120 study participants.
Predictors of Pulmonary Hypertension in Patients With Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis
Pulmonary HypertensionHypersensitivity PneumonitisHypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP) is a complex immune mediated disorders caused by repeated inhalation of and sensitization to wide range of antigens including organic particles and chemical compounds, leading to exaggerated immuneresponse. Hypersenstivity pneumonitis is a common form of diffuse parenchymal lung diseases in Egypt .Pulmonary hypertension has been found as a complication of a number of diseases affecting the lung interstitium, including hypersensitivity pneumonitis, with subsequent affection of the life expectancy Rationale of the study: to find predictors for the development of pulmonary hypertension in patients with hypersensitivity pneumonitis
Follow-up of the PEPITES Study to Evaluate Long-term Efficacy and Safety of Viaskin Peanut in Children...
Peanut AllergyThis is an open-label, follow-up study for subjects who completed the PEPITES study. Subjects will be offered enrollment in this follow-up study to receive Viaskin Peanut 250 μg for 2 additional years if previously on active treatment in the PEPITES study, or for 3 years if previously on placebo in the PEPITES study.
Immunological and Viral Parameters in Patients Receiving Anti-epileptic Drugs
EpilepsyDrug Hypersensitivity SyndromeA recent study has shown that certain drug allergies were actually related to an immune system against certain viruses. The aim of the study is to evaluate, in patients taking antiepileptic drugs, if this treatment induces proliferation of these viruses and secondarily an immune response that would promote the development of a rash. In particular, will be studied whether these drugs can induce virus reactivation "dormant" in the immune system. This study will not affect the usual follow-up proposed by investigators, with the exception of some additional blood samples.
Association Between High Faecal Calprotectin, Increased Intestinal Permeability and Visceral Hypersensitivity...
Irritable Bowel SyndromeVisceral hypersensitivity, low grade inflammation and increased intestinal permeability are three main pathophysiological mechanisms involved in irritable bowel syndrome. The connexion between these abnormalities is not known. We hypothesis there is a link between them in IBS with diarrhoea.
Prevention of Cow's Milk Allergy in Children
Milk HypersensitivityImpact of fermented milk in prevention of cow's milk allergy in new born and infants
Research for Predictive Biologic Parameters of Cutaneous Hypersensitivity After Brachytherapy in...
Breast Cancer25 patients, treated by brachytherapy in a phase II study "Mammosite" (from 2003 to 2005), will be asked to attend a clinical exam in order to evaluate the late cutaneous toxicity due to brachytherapy. During this consultation, a blood sample will be taken for analysis ( rate of CD8 T-Lymphocyte Apoptosis)
Influence of Nutrition on Nasal and Bronchial Affliction in Patients With Allergy on Grass-Pollen...
Bronchial HyperreactivityHypersensitivity2 moreThe study is meant to observe the influence of nutrition on nasal and bronchial discomfort in patients with allergy on grass pollen after specific bronchial provocation. Therefore, the investigators will record the patients' nutrition habits and measure the blood level of long chained polyunsaturated fatty-acids.
The Effect of Tea on Vascular Function and Insulin Sensitivity
Insulin ResistanceThe aim of this research is to explore changes in peripheral/cerebrovascular function and insulin sensitivity after a 7-day combination of physical activity reduction (-50% steps per day) and overfeeding (+50% kcal per day, comprising 65% fat) in healthy male volunteers, and examine whether daily intake of tea can prevent such changes.
Determination of Sensitive Skin and Its Biophysical Response in a Latin-American Population
Skin Irritancy TestsSensitive skin syndrome is a frequent self-diagnosed entity that has not been previously described in a Latin-american population. One hypothesis to its development is an alteration of the barrier function of the skin. The aim of the study is to describe the frequency of sensitive skin in a mexican population detected through the lactic acid test, and to explore its response through biophysical measures (colorimetry, transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and capacitance). The prevalence of this syndrome in studied populations is approximately 50%. Considering racial skin differences, the investigators would expect at least a 20% prevalence. For this purpose, the investigators would need a minimum of 243 healthy volunteers, 18 years or older, with previous informed consent, to whom the lactic acid test will be performed. The investigators will record any unpleasant sensation graded in a Visual Analog Scale (VAS) of 10 points, colorimetry, TEWL and capacitance before the test and at 3, 5, 8 and 10 minutes after the lactic acid test.
