Pulmonary Hypertension in Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis
Pulmonary HypertensionThe investigation serves the identification of pulmonary hypertension (PH) among patients with hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP). The exact prevalence of PH in HP is unknown. Data from South America indicate that the prevalence of pre-capillary PH amongst patients with HP is higher than 20%. There are no reliable data from Europe so far. According to the investigators previous analysis, more than 400 HP patients have participated in pulmonary rehabilitation at least once in the past 10 years at Klinikum Bad Gleichenberg (Rehabilitation Center for Agricultural Workers in Austria). This collective of patients is to be invited to participate in the study. A diagnostic algorithm will be applied in the clinical trial, in the case of clinical suspicion the diagnosis of PH will be confirmed by right heart catheterization. Besides the determination of the prevalence of PH in patients with HP the investigators aim to assess the reliability of non-invasive methods (e.g. Echocardiography, ECG...) to predict PH.
Siderophore-profile in Allergic and Non-allergic Subjects
AllergyHealthy1 moreThis study aims to profile the siderophore-content in the human gut from allergic and non-allergic subjects and to assess their contribution in iron homeostasis.
Drug Provocation Test (DPT) to Non Steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAID)
Drug HypersensitivityBackground : Non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are responsible for 25% of reported adverse drug events which include immunological and non-immunological hypersensitivity reactions. NSAIDs have been reported to be the second most common cause of drug-induced hypersensitivity reaction (DHR). They are almost mandatory in a human life and therefore, the drug allergy work-up goes up until a DPT in order to confirm or rule out the diagnosis. Objective: Detect eliciting dose thresholds during NSAIDs DPT in order to suggest optimal step doses and to describe subgroups at higher risk during the DPT Methods:This retrospective study, using the survival analysis, comprised all patients who attended the allergy service of the UH of Montpellier from 1997 till 2017 with a clinical history related to NSAIDs DHR, who underwent NDAIDs DPT that turned positive and who gave their consent to be included in the study . The Patients are selected from the Drug Allergy & Hypersensitivity Database (DAHD).
Survey Based Discrete Choice Experiment Study in Prostate Cancer (DECIDER) Study
Prostate CancerMetastatic Hormone-sensitive Prostate CancerThe purpose of this study is to quantify and publish participants' relative preferences for outcomes of chemotherapy and novel oral hormonal agents when added to androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) for participants with locally-advanced and metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC). This study will also quantify the importance of administration factors related to convenience relative to treatment outcomes.
Influence of Persistent Food Allergy on Nutritional Status of Children With Food Allergy
Food AllergyThe goal of this single center retrospective cohort study with observational longitudinal follow up is to compare food - allergic children (egg, milk and peanut allergy) with children in control group (children without any food allergy). The main question[s] it aims to answer are: If children with food allergy groups will have lower food intake od micronutrients? If growth in children with food allergy is worse as in control group? If they are more malnourished and in the food allergies group is more stunting than in the control group? If children with milk allergy have lower intake of calcium in their diet and lower mineral bone density? Participants will be asked to do 3 day food diary and to have blood analysed (hemograme, complete blood count, serum iron status, serum protein). If there is a comparison group: Researchers will compare milk, egg and peanut allergy group to the control group (peers without food allergy) to see if the food allergy affects growth, macronutrient, micronutrient intake.
Malnutrition In Non-Celiac Wheat Sensitivity Patients
Non-Celiac Wheat SensitivityNon-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS) or 'wheat sensitivity' (NCWS) is included in the spectrum of gluten-related disorders. No data are available on the prevalence of low bone mass density (BMD) in NCWS. Our study aims to evaluate the prevalence of malnutrition in NCWS patients and search for correlations with other clinical characteristics. This prospective observation study will include 90 NCWS patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)-like symptoms, 90 IBS and 90 celiac controls. Patients will be recruited at the Internal Medicine and at the Gastroenterology Units of the University of Palermo. Elimination diet and double-blind placebo controlled (DBPC) wheat challenge proved the NCWS diagnosis. All subjects underwent nutritional parameters measurement, duodenal histology, Human Leucocyte Antigen (HLA) DQ typing and body mass index (BMI) evaluation.
Cross Correlation of Pain Hypersensitivity and Clinical Features and Electromyography in Low Back...
Low Back PainDiagnostic and prognostic value of pain hypersensitivity in low back pain (LBP) is not fully understood.Increased pain sensitivity in the primary area of pain (local pain) is considered a sign of predominantly peripheral pain sensitization, value of pain hypersensitivity in low back pain (LBP)is not fully understood whereas pain sensitivity in distal and remote areas is considered to present a more central phenomenon. It is suggested that pat ents with enhanced pain sensitivity report high level of disability. Despite fact that pain and disability are associated in chronic LBP the exact mechanisms of sensitivity contribution in LBP disability is unknown. It has also been suggested that muscle function changes may be driven by pain. The possible role and contribution of trunk muscles function to pain and disability phenomena remain unknown. This study was aimed to estimate prevalence and possible correlation among pain hypersensitivity and functional and electromyography parameters of trunk muscles in patients reporting early phase of chronic LBP.
Evaluation of Irritancy/Allergic Sensitivity to Natural Personal-care Products by Patch Tests
Cutaneous PatchDermatitis4 moreThe purpose of the study is to determine if any of Mother's Choice' all-natural personal-care products cause either irritation or allergic reaction when applied to both normal or sensitive skin. Each product will be tested on the skin using patch tests.
The Possible Correlations Between the Genes Related to Pain Sensation and the Pain Sensitivity in...
PainSurgeryObjective: This study was conducted to explore the possible correlation between some gene related to pain sensation and individual basal pain perception and postoperative pain intensity in the general population. Methods: Patients receiving elective surgery under general anesthesia were recruited into this study. The investigators measured their preoperative pressure pain threshold (PPT) and pressure pain tolerance (PTO). Pain intensity at rest and movement after the operation was evaluated . And the PCA drug consumption were recorded. Also there were healthy college students volunteer be recruited into this study. The investigators measured their experimental pain sensitivity including pressure pain threshold (PPT) and pressure pain tolerance (PTO), etc. Then genotyping was carried out.
Saliva Modification Related to Fat Perception in Human
Fat SensitivityThe perception of fat represents major scientific and nutritional issues. This research aims to identify salivary markers that could predict and possibly explain this perception in healthy human being. This would help to develop nutritional strategies for a more rational consumption of fat.
