Efficiency of Levamisole for Maintaining Remission After the First Flare of Steroid Sensitive Nephrotic...

First Manifestation of Steroid Sensitive Nephrotic Syndrome

Idiopathic Nephrotic Syndrome is sensitive to steroid in 90% of children. However, most patients relapse and become steroid-dependant, with a long lasting relapsing course. The aim of this study is to assess the efficiency of a 6-months levamisole course, given early after first remission, on maintaining a relapse-free course at 12 months.

Effect of Momordica Charantia Administration on Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Insulin Sensitivity and...

Diabetes Mellitus Type 2

The hypoglycemic effect of Momordica Charantia has been evaluated in clinical trials in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Important reductions in fasting plasma glucose, glycated hemoglobin (A1C), and fructosamine were observed. It is unknown whether this improvement is due to an improvement in insulin sensitivity and insulin secretion. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of the administration of Momordica Charantia on insulin sensitivity and insulin secretion in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Effect of Eating Within a Limited Time on Sugar Sensitivity and Liver Sugar Stores of People With...

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Modern life is characterized by a 24-hour lifestyle in which food intake is no longer restricted to daytime. As a result, people nowadays tend to eat throughout the day. When food is being consumed the energy is both used and stored for later use. Eating for a prolonged period of time makes it unnecessary for the body to use its energy storage. It is hypothesized that the decreased use of energy stores has detrimental effects on our sugar balance, mainly on insulin sensitivity. Conversely, eating within a limited period during the day could improve insulin sensitivity in people with type 2 diabetes by an increased use of energy reserves, specifically liver sugar stores. Therefore, this study examines the effect of eating within a limited time frame during the day on insulin sensitivity and liver sugar stores of people with type 2 diabetes.

Computer-Delivered Intervention for Individuals With Obesity and Elevated Anxiety Sensitivity

ObesityAnxiety Sensitivity2 more

The proposed study will design and evaluate a computerized-delivered single-session anxiety sensitivity reduction program (i.e., Anxiety Sensitivity Training; AST). The AST will be designed to achieve three primary aims: (1) provide psycho-educational information on AS and its consequences, (2) present psycho-educational information on the relationship between AS and obesity-related health behavior correlates, and (3) offer concrete, evidence-based strategies to facilitate motivation to change their obesity-related lifestyle behaviors.
