Effect of Dapagliflozin Administration on Metabolic Syndrome, Insulin Sensitivity, and Insulin Secretion...

Metabolic Syndrome X

The Metabolic Syndrome is a high prevalence disease worldwide. About a quarter of the adult population suffers the disease. Dapagliflozin is an inhibitor of the sodium-glucose co-transporter SGLT2 in the kidney and is a novel treatment for diabetes type 2. Some studies indicate that SGLT2 inhibitors have benefits on blood pressure, triglycerides levels and help to raise the levels of high density lipoproteins cholesterol (c-HDL). The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of dapagliflozin on metabolic syndrome, insulin sensitivity and insulin secretion. The investigators hypothesis is that the administration of dapagliflozin modifies the metabolic syndrome, insulin sensitivity and insulin secretion.

Imaging Staging and Response Prediction in Metastatic Hormono-Sensitive Prostate Cancer Patients...

Prostate Cancer Metastatic

The aim of the study is to assess the clinical utility of 11C or 18F-Choline Positron Emission Tomography (PET)/Computed Tomography (CT) scan, Whole Body Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) versus conventional bone scan and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) measurements in response prediction to treatment with Enzalutamide in Hormono-Sensitive Metastatic Prostate Cancer patients. The study will assess how these 2 imaging modalities perform compared to traditional serial PSA measurements and bone scan in assessing metastatic tumour load, progressive disease and response to treatment with Enzalutamide. In addition measurements of serially collected circulating tumour cell (CTC) samples, cell-free tumour DNA and RNA will be performed in order to evaluate their predictive value in terms of response measurement.

Effects of Montelukast in Asthmatic Children With and Without Food Allergy

Bronchial AsthmaFood Allergy1 more

To search the effects of montelukast on the airway inflammation including FEV1%, FEV1%/FVC, the provocholine® (methacoline chloride powder for inhalation) challenge tests, the leukotriene levels in the exhaled breath condensate in asthmatic children with and without food allergy aged 6-18 years old. To define the patient groups with good response to montelukast and to define the parameters which predict the good response.

Peanut Allergy Oral Immunotherapy Desensitization

Peanut Allergy

The purpose of the study is to determine how a type of treatment for peanut allergy known as oral desensitization works in the immune system. Objectives To determine whether premedication with desloratidine and ranitidine results in fewer side effects during desensitization procedure. To assess quality of life in peanut allergic subjects before and after desensitization. To compare serum metabolites in peanut allergic and non peanut allergic subjects.

Efficacy and Safety of Several Doses of Viaskin Peanut in Adults and Children With Peanut Allergy...

Peanut Allergy

The objectives of this dose-finding study for the treatment of peanut allergy are: To determine the efficacy of 3 doses of Viaskin Peanut (50 mcg ,100 mcg and 250 mcg peanut protein per patch) to significantly desensitize peanut-allergic subjects to peanut after 12 months of treatment. To evaluate the safety of a long-term treatment with Viaskin Peanut.
