The focus of this study, seasonal allergic rhinitis (SAR), is one type of allergic rhinitis that is triggered by the pollen from trees, grasses, and weeds. Commonly referred to as "hay fever", it is characterized by sneezing, nasal congestion and pruritus, rhinorrhea, and pruritic, watery, red eyes.

RhinitisAllergic1 moreThe purpose of this study is to assess the effect of an aqueous nasal spray investigational compound compared to placebo on the hypothalamic pituitary adrenocortical (HPA) axis system in adolescents and adults 12 to 65 years of age with perennial allergic rhinitis. This study can last up to 6 weeks and you will come to the clinic up to 7 times. Clinic visits include physical examinations, vital sign assessments, clinical laboratory assessments, ECGs and allergy skin testing. You will need to complete a daily diary card and spend the night in the clinic on 2 occasions to collect urine and blood samples over 24 hour periods.

RhinitisAllergic1 moreThis is a Phase 3, single-dose, investigator-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled, crossover study, conducted at a single site in Austria, outside of the normal grass pollen season. An allergic reaction will be induced by exposing subjects to grass pollen in the Vienna Challenge Chamber (VCC). Subjects will receive a single dose of each of the following treatments according to a randomization sequence: Phenylephrine 12 mg immediate-release capsule, pseudoephedrine 60 mg immediate-release tablet, and placebo capsule. There will be a minimum of a 5-day washout period between each treatment. Subjects will complete symptom evaluations throughout the study. The nasal decongestant effects of phenylephrine will be compared to those of placebo using the subjective symptom evaluations. The safety profile (adverse events and vital signs) of the treatments will also be evaluated.

Perennial Allergic RhinitisObstructive Sleep Apnea1 moreThis is a Phase 4 randomized, placebo-controlled, parallel-group, single-center, double-blind study to evaluate the effects of mometasone furoate nasal spray (MFNS) in subjects with Sleep-disordered Breathing (SDB) associated with perennial allergic rhinitis (PAR) using Peak Nasal Inspiratory Flow (PNIF), Embletta device home-monitored cardiopulmonary evaluations, and rhinitis evaluations and questionnaires. Approximately 30 subjects 18 to 60 years of age with symptomatic PAR (with or without SAR) will be selected and randomized at one study site. The anticipated duration of subject participation in the study is approximately 39 days. Subjects who qualify at the Screening Visit will complete a 10-14 day run-in/screening period. Following the run-in period, subjects who meet the qualifications at the Baseline Visit will be treated with study medication for 4 weeks.

GSK256066 is a potent and highly selective phosphodiesterase-4 (PDE4) inhibitor, currently in development by GSK for the treatment of allergic rhinitis, asthma and COPD. Subjects will be selected on the basis that they display a defined moderate response to the pre-determined dose used. Opportunity to assess the efficacy of compounds versus placebo at maximal and trough plasma concentrations. This study aims to explore the actions of repeat doses of intranasal GSK256066 in patients with Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis in the Vienna Challenge Chamber compared to placebo. 12-lead ECG, vital signs and adverse event enquiries will be made throughout the study. Nasal examination, symptom scores (TNSS), nasal lavage, nasal scrape and allergen challenge assessments will also be performed at various time points throughout the study.
