CATIE-Alzheimer's Disease Trial
Alzheimer's DiseaseThe CATIE Alzheimer's Disease Trial is part of the Clinical Antipsychotic Trials of Intervention Effectiveness (CATIE) Project. The study is for people with Alzheimer's disease who are having trouble with their thinking or behavior. In particular, this study is trying to find out the best treatment for people who have hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that aren't there), delusions (false beliefs), or agitation. The design of the trial helps to increase the chance that participants in the study receive a medication that helps them. The study uses three medications known as atypical antipsychotics (olanzapine, quetiapine, risperidone), which are the newest medications that are currently available for treating these problems. Participants may also receive an antidepressant (citalopram). The trial lasts for 36 weeks. Participants are given a thorough evaluation at no cost to ensure that this study is appropriate. In addition, the caregiver, family member, or friend who comes with the participant will be offered an educational program about Alzheimer's disease.
Estrogen Hormone Protocol
Alzheimer DiseaseEstrogen is a hormone that is dominant in the female reproductive system. In women, most estrogen is produced by the ovaries. Men produce estrogen by converting testosterone into estrogen. Because this hormone also has many beneficial effects on brain cells, it currently is being studied as a treatment for Alzheimer's disease. The enzyme that forms the neurotransmitter acetylcholine is promoted in the presence of estrogen. Several very small clinical studies have demonstrated improvement in cognitive function and mood measures in women with Alzheimer's disease who take estrogen.
The Effect of High Fat Diet on the Pharmacokinetics of AD16 Tablets in Healthy Chinese Adult Subjects...
Alzheimer DiseaseThe study was a single-center, randomized, open-access, two-crossover, single-dose study design with 16 subjects to evaluate the pharmacokinetics of a high-fat diet on a single dose of oral AD16 tablets in healthy Chinese adults and the safety of a single dose of oral AD16 tablets in healthy Chinese adults. Compared with fasting administration, a high-fat diet reduced the rate of AD16 tablet absorption in healthy adult subjects and had no effect on overall exposure to AD16. The elimination and distribution characteristics of AD16 in vivo were similar under the conditions of feeding and fasting administration. A single dose of AD16 tablets after fasting and high fat diet showed good safety.
Non-invasive Stimulation Through Nesa and Therapeutic Exercise on Sleep Disturbances on Alzheimer's...
Alzheimer DiseaseThe purpose of this study is to know the effectiveness of an adapted therapeutic exercise program and its comparison with non-invasive neuromodulation through the NESA device, and both treatments with a control group, to improve sleep disturbances and cognitive function in patients with dementia, and improves the quality of life of their caregivers.
