Effect of Low Dose Radiotherapy on Brain Amyloidosis in the Treatment of Alzheimer's Disease
Alzheimer DiseaseAlzheimer's Disease (AD) is the most frequent neurodegenerative disease associated with dementia, with a constantly increasing prevalence associated with an aging population. Amyloid deposition is considered the first molecular event occurring in AD: as already showed in an animal model, a low-dose radiotherapy (RT) course is capable of reducing AD-associated amyloid-β plaques and improve cognitive function. This pilot study wishes to investigate in 10 patients with a diagnosis of prodromal or early probable AD and with evidence of amyloid pathology the effectiveness of a short course low dose RT radiotherapy to reduce amyloid deposits in the human brain using molecular imaging (18F-Florbetapir) to show the effectiveness of the treatment on the specific target.
A Clinical Trial for an Evaluation of Choline Alfoscerate and Donepezil for Cognitive Improvements...
Alzheimer DiseaseThe purpose of this study is to evaluate efficacy and safety of Choline alfoscerate and Donepezil for cognitive improvements of patients with cerebrovascular injury in Alzheimer patients
Effects of Chromium on Insulin Resistance in Alzheimer Disease Patients
Alzheimer DiseaseThe effect of Chromium to improve glucose levels in Alzheimer Disease (AD) is controversial. The hypothesis of the study is to evaluate the effect of supplementing the AD individuals with Chromium combined with exercise and assessing the effect of the supplementation on glucose metabolism.
Prediction of Cognitive Properties of Memantine for Neurodegenerative Diseases
Alzheimer DiseaseBatteryThe early assessment of new drugs for Alzheimer's disease remains difficult because of the lack of predictive end-point. The use of a battery including different parameters could improve this early development of new drugs. Nevertheless, the interest of such a battery should previously be validated with the yet marketed AD drugs.
Computerized Personal Interventions for Alzheimer's Patients
Alzheimer's DiseaseThe purpose of this study is to determine whether the use of computerized systems in 2 common non pharmacological therapies (cognitive training and reminiscence therapy) will improve the cognitive function of patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease (AD), or at least delay its deterioration. In addition, the investigators hypothesize that using the computerized systems will result in improved well-being of the patients and their main caregivers / family members, and in improved patient-caregiver and patient-family relations.
Effect of Cognitive Intervention in Alzheimer's Disease (AD) on Functional Cortical Networks in...
Dementia of the Alzheimer TypeThe study aims to detect the effect of a structured cognitive rehabilitation program, teh stage specific intervention STACog, on cognitive performance and functional activation in fMRI in a group of patients with mild cognitive impairment and dementia due to Alzheimer's disease compared to a waiting group control sample. Baseline performance in cognitive tests and fMRI will further be assessed compared to healthy control subjects.
Observational Follow-up Extension Study of AFF002 and AFF004A in Patients With Alzheimer's Disease...
Alzheimer´s DiseaseThis study examines the long term Safety Follow-up of first patients vaccinated with AD02.
Effect of Memantine Oral Pump on Language in Patients With Probable Alzheimer's Disease
Alzheimer's DiseaseDementiaThis study will evaluate the pharmacological efficacy on language capability and compliance with combination of new Ebixa oral pump and donepezil compared to donepezil only in patients with probable Alzheimer's disease. Primary objective is to evaluate the efficacy of memantine on language capability in moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease patients who are taking stable donepezil treatment.Secondary objectives are to evaluate the efficacy of maintain on cognitive function and disease progression with K-MMSE, NPI, ROSA, and SIB-short form in probable AD.
Zydena on Cognitive Function of Alzheimer's Disease Patients
Alzheimer's DiseaseThe purpose of this study is to determine whether Zydena (Udenafil) has positive effect on cognitive function in patients with Alzheimer's disease. This study is a randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled multicenter study.
Quetiapine for the Treatment of Insomnia in Alzheimer's Disease
Alzheimer's DiseaseInsomniaThe primary hypothesis is that quetiapine will improve sleep in persons with Alzheimer's Disease (AD), with higher doses producing greater total sleep time and sleep efficiency.
