Adaptation of the Uniform Data Set for Telematic Administration
DementiaMild1 moreThe present project is an evolution of the previous RIN 2019 study aimed at validating and standardizing the Uniform Data Set (UDS) for dementia, a battery of tests exploring various cognitive domains (memory, language, praxis, executive functions) and involving partial tablet-based computerization for data collection. In the present study, a UDS-based instrument that can be used in remote examiner-assisted telematic administration will be validated. This will be followed by standardization of the same on a sample of healthy subjects.
Effects of Yeast Beta-glucan on Cognitive Function in Patients With Mild Cognitive Impairment
Mild Cognitive ImpairmentAlzheimer DiseasePatients with mild cognitive impairment aged 50-80 years old were recruited in Shiyan City, Hubei Province, and divided into intervention group and placebo group. They were given yeast β-glucan capsules and starch capsules, respectively, for 6 months, in order to explore whether yeast β-glucan can improve cognitive function of patients with mild cognitive impairment by regulating gut microbiota and its metabolites.
Periodontitis and Periodontal Bacteria in Dementia
Alzheimer DiseaseDementia1 moreThe study is designed to inquire whether the presence of periodontitis and different periodontopathogenic bacterial strains are associated with dementia diagnosis and with the degree of cognitive impairment in participants evaluated at a Memory clinic (Minnesmottagning). Specifically, by analyzing cerebrospinal fluid, the investigators intend to clarify whether the alleged mechanisms for Porphyromonas gingivalis in the aetiology of Alzheimer disease (AD) are supported in a Swedish population and whether they are specific for Porphyromonas gingivalis (as compared to other periodontopathogenic bacteria) and Alzheimer type dementia (as compared to other etiological dementia types), respectively.
A Single-Site Tissue Repository Providing Annotated Biospecimens for Approved Investigator-directed...
Age-Related Macular DegenerationAllergies45 moreTo collect, preserve, and/or distribute annotated biospecimens and associated medical data to institutionally approved, investigator-directed biomedical research to discover and develop new treatments, diagnostics, and preventative methods for specific and complex conditions.
Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) Prevalence in American Samoa
Alzheimer's Disease and Related DementiaThe goal of this study is to learn about ADRD prevalence within the Samoan population. Participants will be administered a series of cognitive assessments to determine cognitive status and a population-based prevalence of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and ADRD. Blood samples will also be collected from the participants for genetic and plasma biomarker analysis.
Korean Brain Aging Study for Early Diagnosis and Prediction of Alzheimer's disease2 (KBASE2)
Alzheimer DiseaseMild Cognitive ImpairmentThe KBASE2 is the second phase of the KBASE project, which consists of roll-over participants from the first phase of the KBASE as well as newly enrolled participants with varying degrees of cognitive functions (e.g. individuals with normal cognition, mild cognitive impairment, or AD dementia). In addition to the aims of the first phase of the KBASE, the KBASE2 will focus on new data collection and integrative analysis of the rich structural, functional, and molecular neuroimaging data in relation to whole genome sequencing and other -omics. Network analysis of disruption in brain connectivity in relation to clinical status and AD biomarker profiles also will be conducted.
Finding Retinal Biomarkers in Alzheimer's Disease
Alzheimer DiseaseCSF Alzheimer's disease (AD) biomarkers are the only one that reflect both Aβ and tau pathologies. There is increasing evidence for the presence of AD abnormalities in the retina of AD patients. Recent studies showed that they can be detected in living patients. Thus, retinal AD-linked abnormalities might be used as alternative diagnostic biomarkers for AD. FIREBALZ study aims at identifying and validating retinal biomarkers for the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease. The study will include 160 patients in whom LP is indicated for assessment of CSF AD biomarkers according to French health authority (HAS) recommendations. Those patients will undergo a detailed neuro-ophtalmologic evaluation including retinal layers thickness evaluation (optical coherence tomography). Univariate and multivariate analyses will be performed to test diagnostic properties of retinal parameters as compared to current diagnostic criteria including CSF biomarkers and logistic regression models will be used.
Alzheimer's Prevention Registry: A Program to Accelerate Enrollment Into Studies
Alzheimer's DiseaseDementiaThe Alzheimer's Prevention Registry (www.endALZnow.org) will collect contact and demographic information on individuals. The objective is to provide information the latest news and advances in Alzheimer's prevention research, and to inform enrollees about research studies in their community. Enrolled individuals will receive regular email communications. As research studies become available, individuals will be notified via email with information as to how proceed should they be interested. Registry enrollees are under no obligation to participate in a research study. Study opportunities may include surveys, healthy lifestyle interventions (e.g., diet, exercise), memory & thinking tests, brain scans, and investigational drug trials. To join the Registry, please visit www.endALZnow.org
Feasibility Study of a Community Pilot Project for the Prevention of Alzheimer's Disease: the KetoHome...
Alzheimer DiseaseGlucose MetabolismThe purpose of this study is to assess whether it is possible to carry out a research project with a nutritional intervention in senior's residence. Life in a small community is very different and above all unique, which could be an asset in a research setting.
Autobiographical Specificity
MemoryAlzheimer Disease1 moreAutobiographical memory is diminished in patients with Alzheimer's Disease and those with behavioral variant of frontotemporal dementia, and research has focused on the hampered ability of patients in retrieving specific memories. However, this study proposes a detailed methodology to provide a qualitative analysis of autobiographical specificity.
