Oxidative Stress Links Aging, Activity, and Mobility Limitation
AgingThe purpose of this study is to understand why and how oxidative stress negatively impacts mobility in the elderly, and to determine whether antioxidant supplements can increase vascular health and mobility.
New Technology for Individualised, Intensive Training of Gait After Stroke Study I
StrokeAmbulation Difficulty1 moreThe overall purpose of this project is to establish the added value of training with the Hybrid Assistive Limb (HAL) exoskeleton system as part of regular rehabilitation intervention programs after stroke. The aim of this study is to explore if HAL training when combined with conventional training in the subacute stage after stroke may accelerate the recovery of independence in walking when compared to conventional training only and if recovery is related to stroke lateralization?
Intermittent Negative Pressure; Impact on Peripheral Artery Disease and Intermittent Claudication...
Peripheral Vascular DiseaseIntermittent Claudication4 moreThe objective is to ensure the pro-active collection of information on quality, safety and performance of FlowOx™ after it is placed on the market. The study will be carried out in a patient population with peripheral artery disease (claudicatio intermittens) to confirm its usefulness and in particular gather information for further improvements of the device related to this patient population. The data collected from the use of the CE-marked FlowOX™ device are change of walking distance, quality of life, and the patient's compliance.
Functional Recovery of Hospitalised Patients With COVID-19: The COREG Extension Study
Covid19Corona Virus Infection2 moreOlder adults and those with chronic underlying health conditions are the most susceptible to COVID-19 and its complications. Although there has been a rapid response to studying the effects of COVID-19 in the acute stages, little is known about recovery over the longer-term. Older adults who survive the diseases are at risk of developing persistent mobility limitations due to extensive bed rest during hospitalization. For older patients and those with underlying frailty recovering from COVID-19, this could rapidly lead to significant physical deconditioning and rapid declines in mobility. Understanding the trajectory of functional recovery of older hospitalised patients with COVID-19 in the short- and long-term is critical to improving patient outcomes and informing health and rehabilitative interventions for survivors.
Effect of Lyra Gait Training on the Mobility of Geriatric Rehabilitation Inpatients
Mobility LimitationMuscle WeaknessThis study evaluates the effect of the addition of gait training to physical therapy on the gait of geriatric rehabilitation inpatients. Half of the patients will receive gait training with a gait training machine and conventional physical therapy in combination, the other half of the patients will receive conventional physical therapy alone.
A Study to Assess the Anti-fatigability Effect of CK-2127107 in Elderly Male and Female Subjects...
Mobility LimitationThe purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of CK-2127107 versus placebo on skeletal muscle fatigue assessed as change from baseline versus 14 days of treatment in sum of peak torque during isokinetic knee extensions. This study will also assess the effects of CK-2127107 on physical performance via a short physical performance battery (SPPB), stair-climb test and 6 minute walk test.
Can Wearable Technology Products Change Our Patient Management in Laparoscopic Colorectal Cancer...
Ambulation DifficultyPhysical ExaminationThe clinical progress of the patients whose mobilization the investigators follow up with wearable technology products will be observed in the early postoperative period until discharge. In this way, the investigators primarily aim to examine whether the bowel movements of our more mobilized patients return earlier.
ENDOMETRIOSIS - MRI
EndometriosisMobility Limitation4 moreEndometriosis is a frequent pathology with an estimated prevalence of 10% of women of childbearing age. There is no exact correspondence between the symptoms described by the patients and the severity of the lesions, which makes clinical diagnosis difficult. It therefore seems important to improve the complementary examinations available to make the diagnosis more precise and to better study the effectiveness of the treatments implemented. The clinical examination and per-surgical findings of patients with deep pelvic endometriosis show a clear decrease in the mobility of the pelvic organs in relation to each other, but few studies have looked at this mobility, which could however have an implication in explaining the pathophysiology of the disease and the symptomatology of the patients, as well as in the detection of lesions preoperatively. The persistence of hypo-mobility could also help to understand treatment failures.
A Randomized Controlled Trial of ride-on Car Training and Locomotor Experience in Toddlers With...
Mobility LimitationThe three purposes of this study are: 1) to compare the effectiveness of the ROC-Stand training on mobility, psychosocial function and social looking with conventional therapy in toddlers with mild and moderate motor disabilities, 2) to compare the effectiveness of ROC-Stand training on body function level and environmental factors with conventional therapy in toddlers with mild and moderate motor disabilities, according to International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) levels, and 3) to determine the effects of ROC-Stand training on the relationship among social looking, caregiver-child interactions and mastery motivation in toddlers with mild and moderate motor disabilities. Based on the power analysis from the preliminary results of the pilot study, the investigator will recruit 92 toddlers with motor delays and further assign them to either mild or moderate motor delays group. The participants in each group will be randomly assigned to either the ROC-Stand training program or conventional therapy(Control) program, resulting the following four training groups: the ROC-Stand(Mild) group (n=23), the ROC-Stand(Mod) group (n=23), Control(Mild) group (n=23), and Control(Mod) group (n=23). The whole study duration will be 24 weeks, including a 12-week intervention and a 12-week follow-up. All programs will include 120 minutes/per session, 2 sessions/per week. Participants will continue their regular therapy during the whole study. Standardized assessments are provided for a total three times, including the time before and after the intervention and in the end of the follow-up phase. The head-mounted cameras worn by the participants and caregivers will record the social looking and interaction behaviors for one 2-hour session/per week during intervention. Participants will also wear three accelerometers throughout the 2-hour training. Assessments include mobility, socialization, behavioral coding, body function, family perception and participation. The findings of this study will provide us some optimal, alternative ways to enhance locomotor experience depending on each child's and family's needs.
Usability and Acceptance of Exergames Among Elderly People and Physiotherapists - a Mixed Method...
Mobility LimitationThis study is a usability design with qualitative and quantitative aspects. In one part, with patients, physical strain and designs facets will be investigated and in another part with physiotherapists, the therapeutic relevance and design features will be explored. For this reasons 13-15 elderly people have to play an exergame, during their game playing process, different measurements will be done. Additional 13-15 physiotherapists will also playing the exergame, they will be asked about their opinions about the game.
