Prevalence of anemia in Asia is more than 50%. All woman who book for antenatal care with non-anaemic iron deficiency (NAID) can be offered therapeutic doses of parentral iron, as a directly observed complete therapy, to prevent of maternal anaemia and fetal growth restriction. The investigators will compare this intervention with usual care in a multicentre randomised trial.

Pregnancy is associated with increased requirements for iron and increased blood volume of up to 40%. Because expansion in plasma volume is higher than the increase in the mass of red blood cells, there is a fall in hemoglobin concentration, which leads to physiological anemia, characterized with lower hemoglobin (Hb), hematocrit and red blood cells, but without changes in mean corpuscular volume (MCV). Anemia in pregnancy is defined with Hb values under 110 g/L in the first trimester and under 105 g/L in the second and third trimester. Iron deficiency is thought to be the most common nutrient deficiency among pregnant women. Consequences of anemia include delayed fetal growth, premature delivery, intrauterine fetal death, postpartum depression and delayed psychomotor development of a child. It is known that in women that are not anemic daily iron supplementation of 27 mg/day is sufficient, which can be obtained from adequate nutrition or body supplies. Iron supplementation is pregnancy has been recommended by the WHO (World Health Organisation) since 1959, and this recommendation was confirmed by numerous professional associations. However, in women with anemia, or women subjected to particular dietary regimens with diminished quantity of iron, including vegetarian or vegan diet, required supplementation dosage is higher, and estimated in the literature to be 120 mg/day. The aim of this study was to analyze whether adding vitamin B12 (5 µg /100 days), along with folic acid and iron as supplement in pregnant women who are not anemic and who need only iron supplementation, will result in improvements of hematological and biochemical markers.

The goal of this clinical trial is to test the impact of a local culture-based nutritional education intervention on IST consumption compliance among female adolescents in the Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. The main questions it aims to answer are: a To identify information for the development of a local culture-based nutrition education model and to build a ready-to-implement local culture-based nutrition education model. b. To evaluate the implementation of the Anemia Prevention and Control Program among female adolescents in Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. c. To test the impact of the local culture-based nutrition education model on the improvement of knowledge, attitude, and IST consumption compliance among female adolescents. Participants will received IST and local culture-based nutrition education. Researchers will compare control group received IST as the Ministry of Health's program for the prevention of anemia with a subsidy for providing IST

This complex evaluation of a large-scale program uses a cluster-randomized design where 20 geographic clusters (subdistricts) were randomized to study two sets of interventions. For the evaluation of behavior change interventions only, the 20 clusters were randomized to 10 intensive and 10 non-intensive interventions areas. For a sub-study to evaluate a market-based model for delivering micronutrient powders (MNP) along with behavior change interventions, there was subsequent randomization to comparison area, MNP-only area, Behavior Change Communication (BCC)-only area and MNP+BCC areas.
